Highlight the "Options" selection at the main menu, then hold A + B on controller two, then hold any button (but not the D-pad) on controller one. Keep all buttons held until additional options that allow level selection, new difficulty levels (Mania and Very Easy), and increasing number of lives up to nine appear.
there's a lil' manipulation to do at title screen, you can easy know how to do it by searching on the internet. I dont remember how to do lol ... see ya !

Up + Jump if i remember correctly (its reflex-like when i play, so i just cant say surely which button it is ...)
