That thing is a tank forsure. You don't have to worry about it failing to cycle. I prefer my dads Swedish Mauser over, his German Mauser. It sounds like the Polish AK47, might top the Russian ones. Nice gun man, when you have time, give us an upate.

AK 74 =/= "Tantal"

"Tantal" code is (since 1980) is name of Polish army program of automatic weapons with small calibre . It's polish design, not full copy of russian rifles.

It's not full copy of AK-74.

"Tantal" have a special fire selector on rights side which AK-74 have not. This is the difference.

Full and correct name is :

5,45 mm karabinek wz. 88 "Tantal".

You should shoot a real "tantal" with a chrome lined bore and barrel.You should also get a "tantal" pistol grip (orange bakelite like the bottom handguard). The safety is set up for a 3 round burst,single,and full auto. Century built rifles are decent. I have one and a parts kit build a real polish tantal. The "gadget " on the dust cover is made to keep the dust cover on while firing a rifle grenade. 5.45 round will out hit a 5.56 on full auto 3 to 1. I am an ak collector and they r great.

okay i decided to field strip my polish tantal ak74, before taking it to the range.....and man the bore was extremely dirty, it took about 20 passes with a brass brush, and than 25 or so cleaning patches and its getting better "color of the patches", but my question when you first got yours, was your barrel dirty?

That "gadget" on the button to remove the dust cover is for when Polish troops use their rifles as grenade launchers. Normally, the force would blow the top cover off. So the Poles added that button to keep everything sturdy.

Bro, you can get 5.45 ALOT cheaper than $11 for 20 rounds. A 1080 round tin costs about $150 before shipping. Also, you should check out XS big dot sights, best sights you can get for an AK.

I have a bulgarian AK-74, and a WASR-2. The difference in fit and finish, is like night and day. The bulgarian has almsot no sharp edges, the WASR is sharp as hell. Both run fine though.

mine was keyholing with higher powered ammo,i called they make 3 diff twist rates, i called and mine is a 1/7 twist rate when the correct 1/8 is what they use in all other ak's but honestly i dunno if i should return it or keep it, it works perfect with surplus ammo,probably better for lower powered ammo actually

the front sight was evena bit canted, but it seems to have the bullet keyhole when i use wolf ammo at 100 yards , surplus ammo seemed to work but i did a barell bullet check with a 5.56 and a 5.45 seems like it swallows the 5.45 and the 5.56 sticks out dosent touch the brass so i think there may be truth to the 5.56 barell being put on them.

plus i have a 1/7 twist six grooves.

Good choice. I have that same stock, get you some kind of pad to put in the grove of the stock to help with comfort, after about two magazines worth of ammo it tends to bruise your shoulder. I'd love to see a vid of some rifle shooting(shotgun, wasr, polish/), hell drive down to North Carolina and i'll bring out my AK's and we can burn through a couple hundred rounds of .45 and 7.62

Its called bakelite on the stock.

The button on the back of the receiver cover is for a recoil of a grenade launcher.
