I like the design of the SLR. But I do prefer the German made SLR. I don't trust Qantas, because their Rolls Royce engines are made in England, so I have a reason not to trust British engineering. Sure the British invent things, but if you want the product to work, you better off asking the Japanese and Germans to refine the product. Being an Australian, we would have better off being settled by the French and Germans, the cars be nicer, and the food would taste better.

The difference? The heads on the 2002 Mustang had different porting from the factory plus a better intake resulting in a broader torque curve thus making it quicker on the pavement.

The SLRs supercharger generates a massive amount of torque from down low. Just look at 00:47 .
The SLR starts a full car lentgh behind the 599, but its supercharger allows for immediate torque, so it closes the gap instantly.
The Ferrari has to rev pretty high to get into its torque band, but because the SLR is supercharged, it has maximum torque from pretty much anywhere.

Of course everybody know's 6 horses more is a lot in racing terms, but would you rather be racing a SLR or a Bugatti veyron, if your a 599, like this exact poor SLR was doing against the Bugatti on another video clip, type in bugatti vs Mclaren Slr it shoulg come up, it was like watching a cheetah and a greyhound race.....Conclusion anyone..!!

@amul566 6 hp more in racing terms doesn't mean anything...I am an experienced racer and I once had a 1998 Mustang Cobra 4v with 305 bhp, 3:73 gears, cold air intake and flowmaster exhaust and I loss 3 out of 3 1/4 mile races to a 2002 Mustang GT 2v with 265 bhp, cold air intake, stock gears and flowmasters.. The difference? The heads on the 2002 Mustang had different porting from the factory plus a better intake resulting in a broader torque curve thus making it quicker on the pavement.

@amul566 Yeah I def like the SLR better than the BV...The BV cost an average of $300k a year in maintenance...That's just utterly ridiculous...It would be a nice car to own for about 6 months and that's it lol...I'm sure Brabus or some other elite tuning company can get the SLR to pump out 1000hp, still be daily drivable and reliable for the right price ha :)

the SLR McLaren is comparable to the Ferrari 599 both are GT cars both have big boots and both weight just live an average supercar :P
if you want to compare the enzo then compare it to the mclaren SLR 722 im sure both are close in terms of performance.
if you want to compare the FXX or 599XX then compare it to the 722 GT

@Adam44516 It is the combination of the high grunt in a large displacement V8 engine and the characteristic whistle from the supercharger...does not surprise me the merc won but the 599 v12 IS most powerful naturally aspirated engine ever built...I'd take the sound of a ferrari engine over any other, any day of the week.
