  • DAMN. I said DAMN.

  • Jeff Buckley... Words just can't describe this man.

  • He didn't sing - he *played* his voice like an instrument. There's just nobody like him.

  • @CrownedWithLaurels Oh my gosh, I feel the EXACT same way. Here's why Jeff is my favorite vocalist: There has never been a singer who could draw me into a song so much that only after going back and listening again did I realize that his voice is the ONLY instrument.

  • Wish you were alive, Jeff. Be my husband.

  • It's interesting how much fidelity he has to the Nina Simone version - the little vocal ticks and trills seem to sync up...

  • Is this the Live at Sin-e version? Or nay?

  • @92RedRevolver

    yes it is

  • @92RedRevolver yup! Sin-e.

  • if i was in New York at this time, i'll have sold my mom to see that concert...

  • I just know I would make a damn fool out of myself and be on one knee if I was at the show, when this song ended.

  • @lilwerm848 If I could only pick 3 that would be there first when I died: "Busia" (my great Grandma), Leo Buscaglia, and Jeff Buckley. If only just to say, "thank you".

  • holy crap.... glad i had on my motorcycle boots when i found this.I love the passion in this,...so out there raw. jeff's a rubics cube of music. I would never miss a single show like this & my damn camera would be at home....

  • He was a genius. Happy Day of Birth, Jeff!

  • It was released on the Live at the Sin-e sessions.

  • A man, his voice, some clapping and stomping, and it sounds fucking awesome...

  • i'm serious, anyone else tried to do what he does they would sound sick or retarded. he is truly amazing. what a tragic loss.

  • My FAVORITE song off Live in Sin-E` Legacy Edition. Love it...

  • I swear Jeff's voice is like dripping sex on a stick!

  • Jeff Buckley's music will stay great forever as long as teenybopper f*ckwits don't use it as an Audition song! Gah, I'm sick of hearing people ruin his music, no one can EVER better/equal Jeff.

  • fuck....

  • wow

  • i am obsessed with this song, he has such a beautiful voice and is sooo talented!

  • @freebird219716 OH YEA!! i obsessed too *-*

  • why is there only live versions of this song!?

  • it was just a live cover he did sometimes

  • @Cruisefuckinkalem There's actually another version of this on here.

  • @lyfonmars a version that is not live...??...

  • @Cruisefuckinkalem No, it is live. Just a different version. I think it's a bootleg? Here's the title: JB - B3 Y0UR HU5BAND (Rare live) since I can't link it.

  • bravo pas mal du tout!!!!!!!!!!

  • fabuleux son et montage.

  • ahhhhhhh i didnt know he had made a version of this song, love it!

  • listen to live in sine, that all kinds of good stuff on there!

  • GOOOOOOD.

  • my favourite singer of all time <3

  • A M O U R

  • i love this song :D

  • The very best singer in all time

  • this is a really good song! anybody know if it was buckley who wrote the story or?

  • Its not Jeffs song. Andy Stroud is the original performer as far as I know.

  • It's a work song/spiritual. Lomax recorded the first documented version. I think the first real cover was Nina Simone. The original was called 'Rosie'.

  • nina simone is:O)

  • this is a Nina Simone song. This is him singing it from him album Live at Sin-e.

  • amazing song!!

  • i just started to learn about this song. it's different and souns very good

  • best singer :P

  • his has one hell of a voice :D

  • i love this song :)

  • what was going on with this man?Was he for real?

  • what do you mean by that?:L

  • I can't believe that there was an artist once named Jeff Buckley who gave performances like this one and never hit the top. What does it take to be a recognised talent?More than this?

  • :S?

  • what does ":s?" mean?

  • it means confused (used for msn :D)

  • thank you welshpersona and sorry for sounding confusing but English is not my native language

  • dont worry :D

  • this is brilliant. nice work.

  • buckley was into nusri fateh ali khan (or a similar name) - i think his range was put to full use cos of being influenced by that mystical kind of music

  • oh jeff.........love ya - though i know you're very much dead - damn you death!!!

  • Simply beautifull..sexy & raw enough to make ya hot

  • This is one of the most amazing things I've ever heard

Everything about this man is pure sex, among many other things but daayuum.

  • that note he hits at 1:35 is proof of gods hand in this mans music.

  • do you mean that "pa-pa-pa-pa"?

  • its more of a wa-wa-wa-wa...

    (=

but yes...google the song and his name.

Some vocal instructors analyzed it and its a higher note then pretty much any opera singer hits, im not articulating it properly

but needless to say he had a range that would rival anyone

  • well its a falsetto. and i know, its a fucking hard note to get a hold onto. you have to drink alot of coffee (if youre not that good at singing) to hit that note. at least for me.

    btw, great song!

  • I don't think it's that hard hitting alot of notes Jeff does; the hard thing is making them sound as full as he does. I'm never sure when he uses falsetto, because he was able to hit very high notes in head voice, and because his falsetto sounds very similar to his normal voice.

  • as far as i can tell he used head voice only in very short notes, but when he held it for long he used falsetto.

  • 1:36

  • I forgot: Great choice of video footage and of course thank you!! :)

  • His voice sounds so pure in this --> wow! 8-O

  • Brilliant!

I don't know if this very performance was recorded in 1995, but I found out that on the internet :

Originally performed by Nina Simone. Jeff performed it live at Sin-é, New York, late in the night on December 31 1995. Being male, he had to make some changes to the lyrics, so his version is also known as Be Your Husband. He did also cut some verses.

  • This was recorded at Sin-é in July of 1993.

  • How can you be sure, Jeff might have performed it a couple of times, we don't know.

  • Well it is on the Live at Sin-é cd.. duuh..

    btw, great fucking song!

  • Yes I know about that! I got Live at Siné!!!! but I meant that I didn't know if it was this very recording or one another, cz Jeff played it more than once.

    And yes, great performance anyway.

  • lol dag!

and yes it is a great fucking song. :) i luuuuv jeff. his music will be alive forever.

  • fu*king good & beautiful

  • beautifull . jeff buckley oh jeff :'(

  • Oh Jeff buckley.......

  • I really like this song, how raw it is. Too bad there is no real footage from his performance at Sin-e.

  • I know, and the songs/performances from the album "Live at Sin-e" are my favorite.
