Lol, no, seriously: The mountains were bought by the rich and they did this. Many people make $, and heat their homes by this. The politics leaves what few people who live nearby on the losing end. Go to the PBS website to learn more about Appalachian Mountains' history.

My opinion: They should get the coal, clean up the mess, and pay the people there to help with that.

she isnt the one cashing the checks phil, its the ceo's of coal companies like massey energy. this video brings the issue of mountain top removal to our attention, to people who dont live in WV like me. i live in ohio, but watching this video from someone who lives through this destruction instills me with a feeling for action. this video has the potential to wake us up, educate us, and give us the realization that we are destroying these precious mountains.

@philbusa I already have done everything you suggested here, and it works! So I do have the right to "bitch" about it. Why can't WV become a pioneer in the research and development of alternate energy sources? Why do West Virginians feels as though their only solution to feeding and clothing their babies is coal? How sad.

I know. I can't even look out my window anymore, for fear that the mountain near me will soon be gone, all for coal. It's unfair.
