ha - the west doesnt know what the world thinks of us? are you serious? how many times have we heard this since 9/11 - accompanied by huge, voluminous explanations? the disingenuous part of this analysis is that the security and financial structure that now exists is only as old as World War 2: 60 years. that is a historical blink, and does not justify the characterization that "the west will never give up this power." and by the way - to whom? there are no "asians." be specific.
Strongly agree! The west doesn't know how the rest of the world think of them. When they say "Human Right! Human Right!" The rest of world laugh at them, what do they know about the "human right", who give them the right to be a judge. The rest of world can not take care of themselves, have to depand on you, the west?
I could not agree you more on that '... but applause'. Steve Paikin is a very smart guy. But what I dislike about him is that too many times he even without trying to maintain a fair dialogue. Like yesterday, he joined three of the guest speakers against one. I will never call a 4-to-1 dialogue a truly opened discussion. But, Kishore Mahbubani managed it very well, especially his closure "something is missing here, the west just don't get it"... haha....
Very very honest and wise man! Honestly, I feel I am really not qualified to comment anything on his speech or interview but applause. Another thing I can do is to read his book.
Britain and France must give up their veto power for an EU veto while India and Brazil get one veto each, so the council is expanded to 6 veto powers. That would be the best.
Hi Fengshegsli, you are not along. Right after I watched the China's challenge in TVO, I decide to buy his book tomorrow(I can not wait for a few days spent on shipping).BTW, I really do not like TVO's Agenda, especially the host.

totally agree! every time in the program, once the topic is related to China, Steve Paikin always get more anti-China guests than non-anti-China(even they may not pro-China, but just talk objectively). Last time, the program had a 5-1 discussion on Tibet issue, for sure 5 anti-China guests including the associate professor from the university of alberta.
btw, I bought the book today, last one in the store. Very nice!
I'm from the west (Canada), Caucasian and I agree with Mahbubani

Kishore Mahbubani makes a very good point.
Yes U.S and Western Europe abuse their power to control the world.

Asia is unstopable. From Syria to all the way to Japan, Asia is unstopalbe.

China and Japan? Yes. Syria? Yeah, right. Anyway, the differences between Western countries are negligible compared to those between India and China.

Let India join the permanent UN Security Council and ditch United Kingdom. I'm more pissed off from UK's terrible role.

why should there be any veto powers? is that democratic? no
why should there be any permanent members? is that democratic? no,
but UN is not a democratic body, but should be

Great guy, great speech! But I am so suprised that no commentary. Why? if it is the voice from 80% of the world population?
After watched the TVO "the agenda", I immediately ordered this book, to read and to keep, as I believe your book will stand the test of the time.

you got to realized many, many of the 80% of the world population do not speak english, nor watch youtube. They have their own networks.
