This song really reminds me of a old video on youtube thats been gone for sometime I think it was called Soviet TV or Communist TV?Anyhow Great song and damn i miss that old vid
@viciousclan she copies a lot from other artists. look up "yoko kanno plagiarism" on google or youtube. as a fan, I felt kinda betrayed when I found that out. some of her stuff is still original though.
yes now days all anime is just about Fan Service .... I dont want to see god damn fan service or lovey dovey shallow story.
I want to see more deep complicated emotion and the irony inside it trough the art of 2d, thats the reason i watch anime .. not for some fan service bullshit ... we already have god damn enough of otaku ..
i love this piece. does any one know which episode it is where this piece is playing and motoko is explaining to kayabuki the existence of a central hub for the refugees
you know, the complex emotions that were gathered through watching these series are triggered by this beautiful song, and you see the world through this prism. this makes song special enough.
@Cuphold3r right. the funny thing is the movies were full of action but the show is all talk and puzzles. bebops story was actually compelling and amazing. ghost in the shell is just overcomplicated and boring
@Cuphold3r I think the reason you can't watch it might have something to do with the fact that you didn't break that statement into two different sentences.
how can someone as universally magnificent as yoko even exist in real life. such epic and robust sound scapes. Its like shes from another world entirely...i'm a big music fan and can assure you...nothing else like her music is out there. maybe someone should do an anime about her
Yoko truly understands the ebb and flow of this world, with all it's rhythm and beauty. You couldn't know what a friend was without knowing of what an enemy is, or is it that to truly "know" your enemy, to understand them and see how they hide their hurt behind an self created illusion of hatred, then, do they not become less than "evil". To know your inner universe while understanding the realities of the outer...we are all just ghost, living within a shell....
To go further, many theories have stated that the real trick to like if realizing that the enemy is the illusion itself...but once you realize that, it isn't an illusion anymore, nor an enemy.
Wow, this is gorgeous. I've had a song by this artist on my iPod for ages--had no idea who it even was or where it came from. I'm glad I decided to finally look her up.
Err, doesn't sound like a rip-off to me. Both songs have the same beat and musical instruments, but the actual melody is different. I supposed if you weren't really paying attention, they would sound alike.
If anything, they're both "ripoffs" of a generic melodramatic noir theme. And YK's piece feels a lot less generic at that. She might have borrowed the overall structure, but that hardly constitutes ripoff imo.
One of my favoirites... The only other Anime soundtrack by Yoko Kanno - Cowbow Bebop can match the greatness of the soundtrack of Ghost in the Shell SAC :)
@connor69077 i won't disagree totally with that but i would really recommend escaflowne and evangelion if you want to see some truly truly epic anime! anyways yoko did the soundtrack for escaflowne too and she is a genius in my book!
@natalieann4 It's nice to see you aren't one of the (apparently) large number of people who have to tell me how wrong I am for my choice of shows while you voice your dissent. Oh, and I like Wolf's Rain as well, It's right up there on my list. Just not my favorite soundtrack of hers. I prefer that somber sound of hers that( I think) she perfected in the two shows I mentioned previously.
@connor69077 akira, macross plus and a whole lot of older titles of the 80's and 90's, the millenium has the weakest shit so far. in fact i think it went from adult and intelligent to pop and stupid.
I somehow fall in love with everything that has a Yoko Kanno song incorporated into it.
This includes Bebop, Wolf's Rain, Trigun, anddd Ghost in the Shell :)
