@mudda410 It was the Parthenon Milkbar, and the tune is called The Newcastle Song...the full album version is on here, I tried to post the link for you but YouTube won't let me.
There was an act on Red Faces on Hey Hey in 1981 who did this song. (I still have it somewhere on audiocassette) Until this day, I had no idea that someone else had actually written it. Amazing.
@IanGorton God, that's amazing. I thought I'd be the only person in the world with that recording. Bernie Kay and the PJs indeed it was. I was actually in the live audience that day back in 1981, think I got my brother to tape the show for me at home. Classic Red Faces that day - as well as Bernie, there was the Glenn Lautrec Little Big Band doing "In the Mood" with kazoos, Tex Gumleaf singing "My Blue Heeler/Kelpie cross" and The All-Male Choir singing the politically incorrect Pasquales Song!
I can't believe I was rummaging among my old cassettes only yesterday on the hunt for a tape I made off the radio of Teenage Cremation many many moons ago - and here it is on YouTube! Many thanks. Now I can share this treasure with my friends. Bob Hudson is a bloody legend! Joe
Fantastic! I foolishly donated this album to an op shop with a lot of other vinyl years ago never dreaming how much it would be worth one day. Oh, how I cried ... and I cried ... and I cried ... and I cried. Could you possibly include Clarissa the Clearasil Girl and Bob's haunting cover of Phil Ochs's No More Songs? Many thanks.
I used to have this album loved it and a song he sang about the pathodon milkbar have you heard of it
