This is Prokofiev's own piano transcription of Montagues and Capulets . He published a whole set of piano solo pieces based on his ballet. Since Prokofiev himself arranged it for piano and had it published as such means it IS fine to play it at the piano! The following can be found on Wikipedia:

''Prokofiev reduced selected music from the ballet in 1937 as Romeo and Juliet: Ten Pieces for Piano, Op. 75, which he premiered himself later that year.''
