  • @D3Markets have you tried to traceroute to D3 server?

  • video is bullshit, latency affects the game but only @300-400ms

  • This is crazy, your in Australia and you get no lag. Im in europe and my latency makes it very difficult to play the game o.0 really hope this is solved when they release the game with a server over here.

  • You should have seen how frustrating latency is in Diablo 1 when you play via UDP connection. That is hell. Monsters dying twice, occasional double/triple duped unpickable drops, teleporting monsters that can kill you because you didn't see them approach etc etc

  • @xcarlowx If you're getting 250-500 ping from Brazil to the US, than there is something drastically wrong with your internet, hence why your not getting instant combat. Learn the difference between lag and latency before posting useless comments please.

  • @ebachour1 There's nothing wrong with my internet. I'm sorry I'm not happy saying this, but it's the sad truth. Latency affects gameplay on Diablo 3 just as any other game, maybe not as much as in Diablo 2, but still, this video is misleading.

  • @xcarlowx How is it misleading? Do you not believe your own eyes?

I'm also in the BEta and in Australia, and guess what, I get instant combat with 200-300 latency. You have crappy Brazillian internet that has packet loss. Nothing anyone can do about packet-loss.

  • @ebachour1 I already said bellow 300ms the gameplay is acceptable, but above it suffers. So, Diablo 3 IS affected by latency, and the title is misleading.

  • I have beta access for about 3 months now. My beta key has nothing to do with the late 100k beta-keys giveaway.

  • Blizzard said you lie! They said they gave 100k beta-keys to NA players only because they have low latency. So you must lie!

  • I'm sorry to say, but this video is garbage. I play from Brazil and depending on time of the day my ping varies between 250-500 (I got 1000+ when playing a multiplayer game once), and I can say: latency becomes a HUGE problem if its above 300. Below 300 its okay but still you notice problems. I can create a video proving this if necessary.

  • Lol, 230ms is not high latency. I just got in the beta and constantly get over 600ms latency, and let me tell you, that affects the game in a fucking huge way. Tons of rubber banding, tons of choppiness. And it ain't my connection either, I have sub-25ms to google and yahoo and other sites. The beta server must suck the big one, and I hope this is fixed for release.

  • A 10-year anticipation for D3 and they showcase a skill that resembles a red, almost unavoidable line that cheaply moves every which way the character turns. It almost looks like a mash-up of Dragon Ball Z getting in a fight with a cat, and losing terribly. Expect less and you won't get so disappointed over over-hyped games, is the conclusion I've come to. Reconsider, Blizzard, the animation choices for these skills; 45% of them they suck! That's being forgiving.

  • @Dawndintified Are you just jeolus because he can fire his lazor and you cant?

  • diablo 2 didnt have lag issues for australians, i could still pwn noobs and tele as fast as those niggaz from the west

  • I find most us servers are like this in most games except Heroes of newerth. They seem to have great servers. Although i can only use US west.

  • thanks for this video man now people understand :D if you tried explaining with out a video ppl wouldent know what ur talking about thanks for the 2 comparisons d2 lags alot for me i am even more excited about d3 now woo

  • Why does the character wiggle his arms like that? Is he having a seizure?

  • basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically basically

  • @ghetto0783 latency you idiot.

  • I have no interest in the auction house, and I don't want a BlizzAct server calculating drops in single player that drive up item costs so the execs can get a bigger cut from auctions. It's all a racket. The online leash publishers put on their customers is getting shorter and shorter. On top of all of this inconvenience and DRM the game is full price! This is why I have no sympathy for companies when they get pirated anymore.

  • The client/server interaction isn't new. iracing employs the same methods.

  • Thank god we can now play single player games without lag. Thank you Blizzard you are the best company ever... without you lag free single player may have never been invented.

  • Doesn't HoN employ a similar concept?

  • Guys stop shitting yourself, its only beta server where access got like 1% of people.Imagine what will happen if milions of people will flood the servers

  • @lobomanhunt If the server does not have to validate every single attack before determining the damage and its effect, than actual killing monsters won't be impacted unless the server itself goes down completely.

  • @lobomanhunt You're thinking of server lag, latency is caused entirely by physical distance.

  • @DacTheHork If you're referring to that weird pitch sound in the video it's my headset. I tried to get it fixed but it persisted :(

  • @D3Markets He is not referring to the headset, it is something you are constantly doing with your voice. It is perhaps commonly known as vocal fry or glottalization.

  • @beatisagg Sounds fine to me.

  • @D3Markets He came off as a real dick, but he's not wrong. That "bottoming out" is a real thing which is considered harmful to your vocal cords -- apparently. Guy's still a dick for saying that.

  • @ericunderscores Oh ok, I wasn't aware. I'll try and work on it, especially if its harmful! Thanks for the heads up :)

  • @D3Markets

Perhaps they're referring to the Vocal Fry effects we're hearing in your voice.

It's not too harmful, and having moved to Australia I've noticed it's quite prevalent here. Still, recently more and more people have been adopting vocal fry as their common manner of speech, and seeing it as harmful may be archaic.

  • @D3Markets I looked into it for a couple hours today because I couldn't remember exactly what it was called. It's called vocal fry and it turns out there's some misinformation floating around. It's not necessarily "really harmful", but if you read up on it you might find that you want to avoid it for various personal reasons.

  • AUSSIES UNITE!!!

    WOOOOO!!!!

  • @beauzuluuluz GDAY MATE! GDAY MATE! GDAY MATE!

  • this is what originally put me off playing d2 multiplayer, instead just played it solo.

    yay!

  • How will this new system work during pvp?

  • @thomas095

in theory you could see a person not do anything then suddenly take a lot of damage when their client's data is received.

  • Wow nice find. I'm form Canada so the latency is not much of an issue (50-150), but I always hated dying because of spell lag/ping spikes. It's nice to hear they have some kind of fix for this.

  • Not really revolutionary. This is just optimistic client server communication. The client assumes that all of it's calculations are valid. Blizzard has had this back in Diablo 1 which we played multiplayer on 14.4kb modems.

  • How does this work with MP though.

  • Wouldn't this method cause issues with multiplayer? Especially in PvP (though I know it's not a PvP focused game).

  • @Ganke2 The game is online only. There is no offline mode. The guy in the video is running the beta client (online).

  • @mobst4r1 i already know that. You seem to have missed the point. This method for client/server communication really doesn't seem suited to multiplayer. I hope it's only used when you're playing alone.

  • @Ganke2

it'll be fine for coop. forget pvp though.

  • This good change is because of the new patch (patch 10) ?

  • How would this actually work in multiplayer though? Say you have 233 MS and a friend has 60 MS. You kill a mob. They kill the same mob less than 110 MS later. Their client thinks they got it while your client thinks you got it. The server will get their update first and even send the confirmation back to their client before your message arrives. Does the higher MS player just drop now because the calcs are wrong? What happens on their client if you don't? Time warp?

  • 3:53 lol :D

  • Why is the graphics so blurry? :( you can barely see the grown, what is going on, please tell me this is not high graphics, this looks really really bad :(

Why is everything a blurry mess like this, because of consoles or what ?

  • @RMJ1984 Thats just because of the video. Ingame everything is fine. Trust me I had the same concerns but its fine once you are playing. Consoles have nothing to do with this. Console release was announced after the main game was 90% done.. Blizzard games are made for low - medium tier PCs thats why you dont see Witcher 2 tier graphics. The game looks good if you are actually in it. I think they said that they want to improve the graphics in the future with some DX11 options.

  • @larzarus1234 Okay thanks ,that good to hear. Very wierd why it looks so bad on youtube. It wouldn be fun playing a blurry mess like this lol.

  • @RMJ1984 ground*

  • as the fellow south african all i can say is focken DOOS! YEAH

  • @BrandonBlaze904 fok yeah!

  • Impressive, Blizzard.

  • Not true. I still get lag.

  • @Seyanhyriu lag and latency is not the same thing

  • @Loegalf in at least nine out of ten cases it is, only other reason i can think of is server instability

  • If some guy with 30ms attacks the same monster that I do at the same instant and I have like 300ms, how does the game take any of that into account? Who makes the killing blow? If the game is "instant" for me, I'll kill the monster first, but for him it was instant too, and he was faster according to the server, so on my screen, I would kill the monster, and then a short delay later my partner would attack the air where the monster was (but to him it would look like he made the kill?)

  • @CptSupermrkt if your parter makes the kil exacly the same time as you do and you have higher ms the loot table is from hes end.

  • @had0ck nope, everyone has their own loot, you don't have to last hit or anything like that anymore, just be in the area and group.

  • @tdreamgmail yeah but only the killers magic find is counted in.. Imagen if it dident.. you have one person with only gold/magic find items in the party at all times ^^

  • @had0ck good point :)

  • As an Aussie this makes me happy. But how will it function with pvp?

  • Too bad, I hoped I could abuse the use of my godly connection and somehow make up for the old laptop.

  • i thought they where gonna have servers closer to us this time round, but no need now i guess. wonder what that technology is worth to other companies

  • As a fellow aussie all I can say is WOOOOOHOOOO

  • @ebachour1 You mean, You little ripparrr!

  • @ebachour1 I think you mean OOOOHOOOOOOM.

  • "Basically, (says a million things about Battle.net's new client-server infrastructure design)."

  • Finally you can download porn and play diablo AT THE SAME TIME!

  • @had0ck Where is the difference?
