  • I like the aunt. She's sassy.

  • "..perhaps you think the Creator sent you here to dispose of us as you see fit..If I thought you were sent by the Creator, I might be induced to think you had a right to dispose of me...do not misunderstand me fully with reference to my affection for the land..I never sais the land was mine and do with it as I choose. The one who has the right to dispose of it is the one who created it..I claim a rright to live on this land, and accord you, the priviledge to live on yours..Chief Joseph.

  • Assimilate or die, Christian/western/consumerism demands that our differences are rubbed out. Pretty clunky short really trying to deal with a massive issue inevitably ends up as anti this or that, the story is over before it has begun. The issue remains, the big fish eats the little fish. Like the Navajo do to the Hopi?

  • So what happened to the grandfather? Did they poison him or get him drunk or something?

  • @GypsiiJane The short only makes any sense if you already make those assumptions. It doesn't show that at all.

If the modern man had come to a 1950's rez with his secular humanism, hedonism, television, Internet, etc, it still would have destroyed the native way of life. In fact it has.......

  • another piece of anti-Christian propaganda.....a multi billion dollar per year industry. All anyone needs to do to be successful in art or media is to be anti-Christian. Nobody seems to notice that thread. It is growing to be the most persecuted religion in the world. Nobody is forced to be a Christian...it is a choice..

  • To clarify some things for those arguing, first good short film great job to the crew. Very few educated people argue the existence of

Jesus. What is argued is his divinity. Christianity's foundation is not base off some teachings of Jesus, which are very practical and wise, neither are you ask to just "believe." rather Christianity was founded upon the resurrection of Jesus. All other prophets and religions, their leader died and that was the end. Without the resurrection Christianity would be

  • They were called "savages" because they hadn't developed agriculture, metallurgy, chemistry, philosophy, mathematics, etc.. But we can pretend that every civilization is equal if you want. Just don't be surprised when reality proves otherwise.

Think of it as Western Civilization assimilating weaker ones. Say what you want... I'm sure there are plenty of Navajo that are happy their children don't have to die from casual infections...

  • @rdevaughn22 Wrong on all counts, Navajo had developed all those things, they just did it in harmony with nature, which is more civilised! Plenty of assimilated navajo sleeping rough and drunk on the streets of the usa not knowing who they are or being accepted by the culture that demanded their assimilation

  • This films is a great example of the our free will and why we in many cases choose the faith we do. In Many cases we are brought up in a particular fate, yet as we grow up we may find another fate either appealing or perhaps fulfilling... And it may just be something that our adult patents or family tell is is wrong or forbidden... All in all I loved this film and it showed that perhaps we've all been in this situation

  • gnawaserge.....its funny hiw you christians do not want to argue anymore or debate when your losing the conversation.

  • dude you just want to argue man and i never wanted to take part in your debate. if you enjoy this join debate club. like i said before do something with your life. i dont have time for you. stop writing to me. if you remember you wrote to me out of the blue. if you wanna be right, well my friend you are in for a lot of trouble in life. also , youtube is not the best place to have intellectual and philosophical, religious debates. stop wasting your energy and follow your dream

  • hahahaha no my friend you missed the mark. obviously big time. what do you mean "nice try" was i ever trying to convert you? all i did was share my testimony. and if i was in the defensive which i wasn't, who says i can't stand up for what i believe in? who are you to decree such things? a achange of heart is a mature thing to do, when you realise your wrong. its not irrational, my friend, . i have one question for you.

  • When people r stripped of their "knowings", when what gives them "human value" is diminished, there is a type of spirit death that occurs. Confusion, worthlessness and powerlessness is born where it did not exist. In my view the teachings of the teacher "Jesus" have been so distorted and misinterpreted that it leaves no room for "honor", "respect" and "love" towards others traditions and culture. We are all ONE under the same Creator; a tribe of many colors.

  • I started reading some of the bible, watching and readin history on christianity n catholisism, listenin 2 my dads lectures(majored in history at S.D.S.U), n once in awhile observing sum churches n how they preach.

  • This was sad both ways. But i got the upmost respect 4 men, women n elders like the Aunt in this movie. Im thankful for my parents 4 raising me 2 have my own mind since i was a child, they never forced religion on me, i did believe in my tribal beliefs but also god but was questioning. When i was 15, i was wonderin y there was so much "rules" in this religion...

  • i wonder how christian native americans whose life was helped by Jesus, feel about this, but i bet they arent bothered by it.

  • Love and fear (responding with love, reacting out of fear). Can apply to many situations in life. Feeling compassion for all. This little girl has questions; curious about something outside of her family's tradition. Interesting film story, thought provoking. Thankyou.

  • the little girl is a better actor then the adults...

  • ...wow...

  • People who doubt are always the ones looking for answers and the people who don't believe just accept it as "truth". I personally believe that everyone needs to look for a grey area, I believe in a higher being but I have no proof of any of it and neither does anyone else but I ask questions and don't accept everything religion, etc. says. Plus, every religious person, Buddha, Jesus, etc., didn't accept the way it was but instead went through a journey and formed their own beliefs and so do we.

  • needs a plot.

  • That rocks!

  • Good looking. Nice shots.

  • @rgktexas7 Revolutionary? Stoicism embodied similar ideas in 300 BC. Just to clarify the course of conversation, I said that you seem to apply less *critical thinking* to your basic beliefs than you likely do when buying a used car. You responded that you think about them a lot, avoiding the term "critical thinking". I pointed out the utter ridiculousness of your believing in the supernatural without evidence. Irrational views deserve no special protection just because they're religious beliefs.

  • How many miles to the gallon does that wagon get? Looks nice.

  • Please stop arguing about religion, none of you know anything your talking about on either side. Please stop, you're all very stupid and should have no position in arguing about the subject. Go argue about Justin Bieber or something.

    Yours,

    The Intellectual Community

  • @1KickTheBaby1 I hardly see that it is your privilege to dictate what can be discussed. If you have specific criticisms of points raised, please present them. There is certainly no requirement for you to read any particular post. This video is, or at least appears to be, a propaganda film launched by one baseless body of faith, against another baseless body of faith. The merits (or lack, thereof) of religion is a very relevant topic.

  • the problem that the so called "Christian Missionaries" in N. America brought is that many of them were self guided with a fanatism to change peoples lives/style/cultural to fit theirs.

A true missionary is one that has his own faith but is very charitable with others. Much like Mother Theresa of Calcutta. She never push her ways onto the people she helped. She was there to be as much of a nurse that she could be to the ones that were at bottom of their last breath. One reaps what one sows.

  • wow this thing is slow but it is a nice film thoe the little kid looks s cute in there it made me cry

  • @rgktexas7 I've no problem with a philosophy of being nice to others. Christianity certainly doesn't hold a monopoly on that ethical code. Though christians do have a talent for perverting it into intolerance. You conveniently leave out all the unsupportable metaphysical baggage. The nonsensical idea that some dead guy is acting as a sort of sin-sink for the rest of us. And your imaginary friend whom you pray to, who sometimes grants you wishes, and will send you to a nice resort when you die.

  • Hello

  • I hate that Christianity has been forced on so called "savages" for centuries. I don't think Christianity was ever supposed to be forced on anyone. Jesus said, in essence, to his apostles, I send you out like sheep among wolves to preach. If a town or group of people will not listen to the good news you have to share, then shake the dust of that place from your feet and move on to the next.

  • @dewfall56 If Jesus is such a loving individual then why does he insist on sending people to hell? If religion is meant to create moral guidelines and comfort why do so many people die from religious motivations? Why can't we just learn to love each other and enjoy the time we know we have now instead of confiding in some illogical doctrine as means for comfort?

  • I don't get it. Why did the old man die and what does that have to do with the missionaries?

  • @IDecima Smallpox blankets or not having his medicine.

  • They're saying the christians were forcing religion, but by making this film they are kinda forcing their own religion

  • films like this only spread hate and contempt in a very subtle way against christianity. it's likefuel to those who hate the church and to those who put their faith in man and were hurt by them when they went to church. but i dont fear such things for this surely proves to me that the time will come when people who don't know the mystery of the gospel revealing GOd's love, will persecute and kill Christians for their faith as it says in the bible, tyo all those hurt, just know that Jesus Loves

  • @gnawaserge I wouldn't say that, its just expressing a view.

  • @gnawaserge "films like this only spread hate and contempt in a very subtle way against christianity."

And as we all know, christians never spead hate and contempt about anything. Sorry, but while I think the film is absolutely dreadful, my comment to you is "what goes around comes around". Christianity is second only to Islam for spreading hate and intolerance. Christianity used to take 1st place. But then Islam took a really nasty turn.

  • @sbergman27 Mr. bergman, God bless you. I used to \blaspheme against God, I mean I hated GOD. but from personal experience i can testify that Jesus is Merciful And that God has forgiven me for this. He has opened my eyes to see the Love that all the christians that I once hated with a passion that consumed my entire being talked about, and he gave it to me too because i was in dire need. I love GOD because he first loved me.I am really sorry you have to live with hatred towards christianity

  • @gnawaserge Nice try, but you completely missed the mark. It's the general irrationality of religious folks which concerns me. Your hating "god", and your praying to him, are equally irrational. They only difference is that your imaginary enemy has become your imaginary friend. Rest assured that my concerns are not restricted to christianity, although it & Islam, are at the top of the current list of destructive religions.

BTW, despite the 'loving christian' veneer, you sound rather defensive.

  • @sbergman27. If your life is so better off without this imaginary friend of mine, called Jesus, If it is all bogus, why do you fight it? why do you even spend a part of your existence, arguing against something that is "false"? .isn't that a bit irrational? Live your life, make up your mind whether you believe and will follow or not and move on. but please don't waste it arguing on youtube or trying to bash people for their beliefs. It's a waste of Life, and Gosd sdidn't create us for that.

  • @gnawaserge What you are missing is that irrationality leads to human suffering. Just look to the Middle East. But the damage is certainly not limited to that. What people do in the name of irrationality affects others. If you ask US citizens who voted no in some state question regarding, say, Gay Marriage (to pick an issue at random), you'd likely get mostly irrational answers involving "god" & christianity. Advocating irrational thinking is bad for both Democracy and the world.

  • @gnawaserge BTW, Stem Cell Research would have been an even better example to use in my last post. The situation would have been the same. But wrt SCR, many people have died, and many more have been forced to continue to suffer with diseases like Parkinsons, due to the actions and attitudes of voters acting on irrational religious motivations.

  • @gnawaserge "Everything concerning god" is a very broad domain. Creator of the Universe, wish granter, imaginary friend who listen's to your prayers, the one who's going to give you immortality in heaven. People use god to mean a plethora of things, without distinguishing. Please do a YT search for "Father George Coyne Interview" and tell me what you think of the interview. Coyne is very thoughtful, honest, and eloquent, and presents some points we could probably constructively discuss.

  • Comment removed

  • Please understand not all christians do stuff like that, There are evil people from every religion. Recognize specific people as evil, not broad groups.

I'm white, but go to a school 2 miles from a reservation, some of native americans pick on us saying we took their land. I did not, Our ancestors did. I'm sorry it had to happen that way, but the only way to move on to peace is to not blame groups, blame only those who did the unjust action. no one is innocent.

Very good, deep short by the way.

  • I liked the colours and the lightening a lot. the story was crap...

  • Hallo

  • What a wonderful short; a very touching and and down to Earth telling.

  • @rgktexas7 Now you are just hand-waving. The fact remains that the according to your texts your god advocated stonings, amputations, etc., often for trivial "crimes", for a very long time. And then turned around and changed his mind. One can imagine the sign on his door saying "The beatings will continue until morale improves". It's odd the way people apply far less critical thinking to their basic beliefs than they do to buying a used car. Against stupidity, the gods themselves contend in vain.

  • @rgktexas7 So you've cherry-picked a bit of the OT to act as a loop-hole allowing you to reject a whole set of texts that you don't like. Apply a little critical thinking. Why would a god require the stoning to death of all disobedient children one year (Deuteronomy 21:18-21), and then advocate love and tenderness the next? It's nonsensical. But since you want to get rid of OT so badly, you are willing to jump through hoops of illogic to do it. Even if the end result is logically inconsistent.

  • @rgktexas7 so true! that's why animal sacrifices aren't relevant anymore like they used to be because Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice when he died for everyone on the cross.

  • This is about the silliest thing i have seen on some time on Youtube, waste of space

  • this was a pretty bad film. i get what its trying to say but the only good part is the visuals.

  • @rgktexas7 But of course you cherry-pick. The texts are full of inconsistencies. And where they occur, you pick the version you like best. Right? I've run into plenty of people who claim they do as you do and stick to (translators' interpretations of) the writings. But as soon as I mention the source which is arguably closest to primary, the Old Testament, they back off and start stumbling over themselves explaining why that book doesn't count.

  • naspa detot :))

  • @rgktexas7 It's interesting that you try to distance Christianity from religion. If you want to cherry-pick some subset & pretend that it's not a religion, that's your business. Just don't expect people to buy it. Christianity "looks like a duck and quacks like a duck", so to speak. You seem to think that somehow evidence for the existence of a historical model for Jesus verifies the rest of the crap. That's a logical fallacy. Even so, the only evidence comes from the fictional works themselves.

  • I didn't kno they had HD cameras back then

  • silly hipsters

  • Traditional Navajo Mythology, Christianity, Greek and Roman Mythology, Islam, etc. are all on equal footing as systems of total crap built upon foundations of ignorance. That said, this film is mostly pointless & misses the obvious. Grampa didn't need the superstitious nonsense of Nav. Myth. any more than he needed the superstitious nonsense of prayer. Grandpa needed a doctor! (They had them back in 1950.) The family sat around for a day & let him die, and then blamed it on a rival religion.

  • crap ... welldressed crap, but crap just the same

  • Classic short film. Two Thumbs up. Being An African American, I have seen what this religion has done to my people. White Jesus (European Christianity) is a religion that has been force on people by the sword, and destroyed nations, is far more deadly to my people than crack, aids, black on black crime, teenage pregnacy, and ganster rap. I can't go too deep into it, but history has proven this to be true.

  • see what happens-___-'' ppl should just stop "forcing" others to practice their religion and let them believe what they want.

  • @ShinjiTheKid True. I think it just shows the insecurity of the followers of religions when they force it upon others. It's hard for them to accept that they could be wrong.

  • I don't know how to feel about this yet.

  • you can never stop people not to believe whatever they believe....Don't forget

هیچ وقت نمیتونی جلوی ایمان کسی رو بگیری......اینو فراموش نکن

  • Medicine put on the Earth by God should never be discarded. It is here for us to use while we are in the physical world. I guess this is another bash evil Whitey film though. I wonder if anyone realizes that the Solutrian Europeans were wiped out by the invading Mongols coming across the Bering straits ? Mummified European corpses have been found all over the place. I wonder why the Zionist media tries to keep a lid on it ?

  • @MonkeyMagic88 LOL the "Zionist media"? Christian nut job. Let me guess, you spend most of your time on a forum called stormfront? LOL

  • @MonkeyMagic88 "Medicine put on the Earth by God should never be discarded. It is here for us to use while we are in the physical world."

Fine. Go have a nice, relaxing cup of hemlock. It's all natural.

  • classics go down

  • I don't see it as being that the guy died from a disease I see it more that it was the relinquishing of his ways of life. Maybe he traded (figuratively speaking) his medicine pouch for the acceptance of a new way...a christian way....being of Native blood myself, I can see how this could be trying to project the effect of changing the ways and beliefs of the Indians.

  • there is a part that i might not of understanded all that much but the little girl was great. she set the mood of the hole movie. there aunt could have been a better actress but i mean its a short film. i really enjoyed it.

  • So the grandfather dies of a disease the missionaries brought in?

  • This is truly a piece of art. So much passion, I love it.

  • oh cool.
