the soldiers got dismayed because they have found only one girl sniper had almost killed them all. They felt pity but then killed her for the sake or their mission and revenge for their dead allies.
You do realize that the "commie bitch" is supposed to be the same whore that the squad was talking to during the whole "Too Beauceaup" scene, right?
The whole point was to drive home the sentiment that they had no real idea who the enemy was; that ANYONE could be Vietcong... the barbers/bartenders/hookers in Saigon, any of them could be ready to pump 7.62 in your grape in 24 hours time.
Look, the wars in Vietnam were a damn tragedy all around the merry-go-round. Mainly for the Vietnamese, and for what? Millions dead because two western countries believed their vital interests were at stake? A damn bloody tragic waste.
Third, by the time the nukes were used, America had already landed in the main islands. And they were quite effective in making a few millions of suicide soldiers and a emperor to stop fighting.
Still willingly killing civilians, with the exact goal to eradicate mainly civilians is considered a war crime. The use of both Nukes in Japan are War Crimes, no matter how people want to twist and turn it.
Did it fasten up the war? maybe. Was it still a war crime? Hell yes it was.
Why do you think the US isn't willing to join the international court on war crimes? Because you would be liable for the execution of Hiroshima and Nagasaki for one.
First, the Battle of Britain was a defensive, aerial battle, and that's it, don't be so conceited, the only reason France always falls and the Britain does not is because you guys are on a island and getting supplies from across the ocean constantly. Second, as you said, the Soviets did most of the killing in the European Theater.
@ImperiumBritannica "Started because of France", you mean because they owned Vietnam when the war started? Just to let you know, just because some brits and aussies were part of the pacific war it hardly means they did anything relevant, the credit goes to America.
This is one of the top 10 most disturbing things ive ever seen in a movie. Anyone who doesn't feel something watching this has been desensitized by cheesy comics and video games and has no clue
and by the last posts no one like war just somthing that looks good in movies, ppl die all the time so when u all set in your home and eat your cheezy poofs someone like u dies, u all better use the internet to learn the real world becouse it really telling u all somthing.
man none of us well ever now that these dudes did becouse it was there dutiy when they shig up for famliy the usa and what they need to do, , we might have to do this again one day so think about that solders keep u safe, i love them all!
Sorry to say it, but I've never liked this film, at least not the action part of it.... Because, if you've been in the army and no a little about stratigies, then this film is just full of stupid descitions, and it pisses me of a little, do not like incompetente leaders...
Yea... Im setting to join the Marine Corp. I know a few people who served in vietnam, thats pretty much how shit went. It wasnt as diciplined as it was in WW2 thats for sure.
their leader has gotten fragged and now cowboy is in charge, a role he was not prepared to take up, especially after being shaken up by the loss of 3 of his men alredy
he made a mistake in navigating, so he sends 1 of his men to scout out the area
thats where the shit hits the fan
its not till Joker is killed that they get things together
when the situation around you is falling apart and you have low morale, high casualties, and fatigued by battle, mistakes are made
@controlusplease 'This is a really nice comment, but Joker does not die, he seems to be the main character, the protagonist of the story if you will..
you know things cannot be carefully thought in real time battles, unless you are some idiot behind a desk, not the idiot with the rifle shooting and getting shot
Also vietnam is far from what any european has ever fought, there were no clear positions, no big fields, no nothing, just a jungle and yellow dude popping up and shooting at you, everywhere.
Actually inland chinese are yellow. But as you might I guess I wasn't trying to be ethnically accurate, I was trying to generalize like most people do. Thanks for the concern.
yea and probably north africa has a lot of resemblance to vietnam, and burma can be compared to vietnam, but they the british were aided by the americans and the chinese, and also the japanese targeted mostly cities
man, you shouldnt care do dish european fighting, weve beem fighting for 1000s of years, america has 200 years of experience... so please learn your history :)
Hue was the bloodiest of fights. Every City block was payed for with the blood of the marines(I think, not sure if it was marines or the army) and their south veitnamese allies. And this is a good example.
I think the music is a really good reflection of back then..it could used later on about today. Now blaming anyone but always in these situations somebody wants something and they get someone else to pay for it.
i can't believe this hasn;t been commented on! this is my favourite war movies with the music of one of my favourite bands. you're right, it is a great effect.

It's a movie about a war where tactics were pretty useless.

No, I haven't :)
But I do know about tactics from my time in the army, and this is all wrong...
