Ryu has many good normals(easily combos) and more than average health he's a noob's best friend :/
But Ken? Oh my god, fuck him he's like ryu but with more frame advantage. I hate Ken-pro wannabees the most who make it somehow to over 1500pp and then think they're the shit. I love beating those assholes to the ground :3
@chrluzz You said it! Almost 90% of the ranked matches I've played I have battled against Ryu or Ken, and it's been rough... Heck, the european servers are full of those morons, spamming hadokens and Ken's insanely fast and powerful shoryukens. There's, like, 34 characters in SSF4AE, so why the heck use only two of those!!
What a fail video. Ryu requires a lot more skill to use than a large majority of the cast. Everyone knows what he's capable of and everyone has seen everything he can do. He has no gimmicks or mix ups making him a character that relys on good reads and good execution. And being able to make good reads requires way more skill than simple rushdown characters like bison who can just lk scissor kick and ex psycho crusher without looking for an opening. Last time I battled a Ryu user, I used Gen... And Gen is uhhhhhh.... Pretty much hard to connect given his limited normal attacks... But yeah... I managed to beat that Ryu in an epic moment...
I think Ryu does a good job of introducing new players to the game. He's a well-balanced character and easy-to-learn-the-basics with. This is supposed to be a friendly-sparring match after-all, not Mortal Kombat where everyone is merciless.
lol, its funny that there are 5 dislikes. Must be 5 salty Ryu players. I might have to say that Ryu takes more skill than Ken though ;P. So thats a good thing about him.
@roll451 - Say that second sentence to BLG.Filipino Champ then - he beat Daigo Umehara at the 2010 SoCal Regionals in SSFIV (Dhalsim is stretchy, btw) - and you can guess that Daigo used Ryu.

@roll451 - I just took a look at the Akuma Reveal trailer. He is BADASS in that game. Gou Hadouken spam ftw! (One of his Hyper Combos - involves shooting a LOT of Gou Hadoukens. Another one is a new Zanku Hadouken which is based off of Ryu's Shinkuu Hadouken in the VS series. And, yes, the Shun Goku Satsu returns!)
u r right .. the reason i think because ryu is the main character for this game so the beginners can play and win some matches when they choose him to love the game and think that they play good then continue playing the game :) .. anyone can do only hadoken and shoryouken they have chance to win !!
