Hi alfredo i saw you at the umbria jazz and you were incredible! And when the day after i heard corea and bollani i didn t like them as much as your music.. You really touched our hearts. Bravissimo!
Alfredo, thank you for an incredible night of music at Yoshi's San Francisco. You are a musical treasure. A true gift from the beautiful island of Cuba!
I take it you mean this piece doesn't resemble Chopin's Tristesse? Well if you missed it, I suggest you listen again....especially from 0:20 to 0:27 or 0:46 to 0:53 or 1:27 to 1:35 need I go on? The rest is very pretty and I'm sure it is a sincere piece despite being derivative! Variations on a theme perhaps!
It does resemble.. but what I meant is that every single musician or composer is greatly influenced by Chopin... even jobim in how insensitive sounds almost exactly like a Chopin prelude.. but that is normal and does not take the merit of the composer..
tsss es un genio.. la oí una vez.. después me la pase con la melodía en la cabeza y no me acordaba que era esta.. pero sobretodo la armonía es bellísima
Let me clarify, welcome to America, Alfredo... I can really sense the feeling in this work with the sense of all you left behind in Cuba. Much of my family went to Cuba from Azores, the original Portuguese Cubans who went there. Some made it to America around the straight to get to Hawaii. So you look like Azores people and Spanish very much. Id love to put the strings to this with orchestral sampler and arrange it. It's forward movement is like waves speeding up and slowing down. Bravo.
I can forsee a very commerically viable album with Alfredo with a mix of vocalists including Boccelli and some works with full orchestra arranged and conducted by Quincy. I'd love to do some orchestral mockups for Alfredo's work on orchestral sampler. Bravo !
Just beautiful...
You can play it ALL!

I agree, this is undeniably a variation around chopin's tristesse! no harm meant, the talent is here and the piece is still nice!

Very nice and Alfredo is very special but there is something reminiscent of Chopin's Tristesse here, (So Deep Is The Night)
