You have to hand it to them, DirectX made writing games for Windows way easier. You didn't have to write drawing routines for like every video card ever oooooo and nevermind if you wanted sound in your game in DOS.

Doom95 is running kinda flawless even on my Windows XP, but I suggest using a source port, such as Chocolate Doom (actually not altering the gameplay, graphics and sound at all).
