The Romans killed quite a few Jews but nothing like the exaggereated numbers that people like Josephus claimed and exiled only the leadership. The Romans did not have railroads in order to carry out mass expulsion of people to far away places so they could not have exiled very large numbers.

@IWannabeJew So apparently the Romans expelled most Jews from Judea in AD 70 when they destroyed the Temple, accept they didn't otherwise there would have been no Bar Khoba revolt in AD 135! Jews were not expelled on mass then either they stayed in Palestine for centuries and the Mishna was written in Palestine in AD 220. If the Jews had been "expelled" then the Bar Koba revolt would never have happened and the Mishnah could not have been written. Seems you not me needs re-educating!

@IWannabeJew What happened in AD 70 is the same thing that happened during the Babylonian exile. The Romans killed quite a few Jews but nothing like the exaggereated numbers that people like Josephus claimed and exiled only the leadership. The bulk of the population stayed where they were or re-grouped not far away in the Gallilee or coastal plain. The Romans did not have railroads in order to carry out mass expulsion of people to far away places so they could not have exiled very large numbers.

@IWannabeJew No historian could possibly believe Josephus could have been accurate. What did he do count up all the dead bodies? I repeat if there were 7 million Jews in the Roman Empire the majority living outside Judea where did they all come from? They came from people who CONVERTED TO JUDAISM.
For example the author of the Gospel of Luke in the New Testament was a Greek convert to Judaism. Greek was clearly his native language but Judaism was his religion that he learnt from the Septuagint.

I think you should put down the work of Flavius Josephus who after all he was a TRAITOR as he collaborated with the Romans and read Shlomo Sand's brilliant book "The Invention of the Jewish people". @petersz98 Flavius Josephus was a Prisoner-of-War. I always take this into account when I read him, but I have found that he also attempts to communicate with his Jewish brethren in ways not easily detected by those who are not Jewish.
If you are any indication of Mr. Sands' book, I would say that Shlomo Sands is the traitor.

Jesus and his followers did not want to create a new religion. Jesus only preached to Jews and Samaritans NEVER to Gentiles he could not speak Greek only Aramaic and possibly Hebrew. Greek speaking people were converted to Judaism in huge numbers by Hellenistic Jews and later to Christianity.

That is the reason unless you have failed to notice there are Jews who have blonde hair and blue eyes, black Jews and lots of different races. Geneticists will tell you that the basic core of the population of Palestine has remained demographically substantially unchanged for thousands of years until 1948 that is! I'm not sure, but I don't think the Romans deported the Edomites, which is probably why "Edomite" became a code-name for Romans even though Romans are supposed to be descendants of the Kittim.
