The best evidence that hell is not eternal torture and torment is that Jesus is no longer in hell He has risen :) if the price to pay for sin was eternal suffering and torture than we have no hope because or Savior is not in hell suffering but is in Heaven with the Father John 20:10.

If Christ had been strangled there would have been no salvation. And only those who have applied His blood with get eternal forgiveness. Only ones that will not be touched by hell are those that are in Christ & accepted His Sacrifice. God the Father turned His back on His Son - and will do so for anyone without Christ.

God told Joshua to kill every man, woman, child, and animal in the city. Why would God command Joshua to kill children? I don't know and I will never know until I can talk the Lord in heaven. God is loving, but he also commands that we have fear and reverence for him.

Jesus preached about hell and the bible mentions it many times, however hell is not what many Christians believe it to be today. Hell does not go on forever and ever with torment, rather hell is an eternal death. The Bible says the wages of sin is death and the gift of God is eternal life Romans 6:23 . It also says the dead know not anything Ecclesiastes 9:5. When Lazarus died Jesus likened his death to a sleep and called him forth from the grave not down from heaven or up from hell John 11.

Lazarus went to Abrahams Bosom, (where all old testament believers went before Jesus Christ died and made atonement for sin forever) and the rich man went to hell. @lightinthedarkness7 The best way, at least in my opinion, is to share the Gospel first and then teach Law. Christ also preached forgiveness, love, and mercy. Shadowguy24 is correct. If you use Hell as a way to convert people to the Christian faith you are making it a religion of fear. You are not allowing those who do not know Christ the virtues of His boundless and eternal love, and forgiveness.

@derDenker1992 It depends how you define fear. If you go back to the original Hebrew in the book of Psalms where that book was found you will see that fear in that sense means reverence or awe and not terror. You are correct the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.
