There is a reason why Rome expanded, and its not just because of wealth, assassination, invasion, or thirst for more land, but also because of their dream for peace they seek. But after PAX ROMANA, a group of more corruptive and more evil emperors had took that dream away and replaced it with greed and cruelty, the real reason why Rome fell. If only that peace lasted longer by a more wise group of emperors.

Barbarian was simply a term used for non-citizens of Rome, it had nothing to do with the way they lived ect. There were many super powers through the ages, and all we either loved or hated, depending on which side of the fense you stood. One could argue that Rome's fall was internal rather then external, sure outside forces fought and took back parts of Europe, but this was part that the empie was too big to manage, and the constant internal fight for power, or for getting lazy.

Antony and Cleopatra merged forces to protect Egypt. Egypt never really fought against the other nations, they just kept with their own business during that time.

Octavian really wanted the throne so he kept on Rome's "good side" but, he killed Ceasarion, Ceasar's son. Took Cleopatra's other children, and murdered Antony's other innocent children.

Rome was a very chaotic place then, you should'nt give one-sided conclusions or judgements on people..
