Greatest Guitar Solos Ever

The title of the list is wrong: It should NOT be "greatest guitar solos" but "most famous guitar players with cult status". It´d be the same if you would say "a calculator is better than a Pentium Dual Core Processor". Meanwhile, all these players are surpassed a million times by a billion players. I will NEVER understand why people STILL adore those oldtimers... Sorry, my opinion...

Yeah I complete agree with mrcannabis94! The Comfortably Numb solo should at least be in the top 5 if not top 3. Rolling Stone (which I put no faith in) had it at number 5 of all time.

If it's musicianship that impresses you and not image...it always seems to me that the difference between real musicianship and image is the difference between grown ups and kids.

All great chices and defintely a subjective topc versus objective. For those of us that love great guitar check out Stevie Ray Vaughn Live from Austin Texas (Riviera Paradise) The guitar talks to you and the changes in tone and inflection are amazing. Makes me want to weep its so good.

I'd almost forgotten how innovative the solo is on 'Watchtower'. It's genius conceptually (it's in five distinct sections), playing(Virtuosity and Soul)and in studio techniques(they invented new sounds for Hendrix. In addition given what his contemporaries were playing, i.e Clapton, Beck, the Beatles, et al. It was at least a generation ahead of its time.

Oh yeah, I suggest you look up Hendrix's 'Machine Gun'...the 9 minute version here on YouTube.
