The title of the list is wrong: It should NOT be "greatest guitar solos" but "most famous guitar players with cult status". It´d be the same if you would say "a calculator is better than a Pentium Dual Core Processor". Meanwhile, all these players are surpassed a million times by a billion players. I will NEVER understand why people STILL adore those oldtimers... Sorry, my opinion...
Hahahahahahahahahaha! Ahahahhahahahahhahahahahhahahahh! AHahhahahahhahahahhahahahhahahahhaahha! AHahahhahahahahhahahahhahhahahahahhah! What else to say?
MaN WTF u all Should Shut up , if u have mind u will see there is millions of Guitarrist in the world and each one have mUch solos and compositions..... And there is 7000 000 000 Of people SO u cant Put all that solos and Make feel good All that people with jus 10 solos
So pleas shut up this list was made by thi guy , if u dont like it make ur own list
first off, black sabbath should NOT be on there AT ALL, second off, you should have comfortably numb on there, seeing how that not only has the best guitar solo EVER, it's also the best SONG EVER, but it's pink floyd, so ofcourse it's the best.
I don't need sound to tell you that another 13 year old has decided for us [again] the "Stairway to Heaven" is his No. 1 pick. Not a bad song by any means but...
is this a joke hotel california no, 7 thats def a top 5, and i was shocked to the core when no, 1 came up to find it was not eric clapton crossroads, to say it dident make the top 3 is remarkable but to say its not even on here makes me doubt you seriously, look i get people have different taste but tallent should always shine through, and creams crossroads is the greatest guitar solo ever!!!
Yeah I complete agree with mrcannabis94! The Comfortably Numb solo should at least be in the top 5 if not top 3. Rolling Stone (which I put no faith in) had it at number 5 of all time.

If it's guitar music that people really like and not just image and 'cool' then check out Li Jei...she is an artist of the most sublime. If it's musicianship that impresses you and not image...it always seems to me that the difference between real musicianship and image is the difference between grown ups and kids.
All great chices and defintely a subjective topc versus objective. For those of us that love great guitar check out Stevie Ray Vaughn Live from Austin Texas (Riviera Paradise) The guitar talks to you and the changes in tone and inflection are amazing. Makes me want to weep its so good.
You may disagree with the list of solos in this video. That's how these matters of opinion go. But please, please, get over yourselves. It's personal preference, which means no one is wrong. Go do something useful with your lives instead of criticizing someone for liking different things than you like.
yeah the list is sort of clichee.... one can always guess the next song.... oh yeah, the Free Bird version is better live. a few other (also more or less clichee) imho better solos:
That wasn't the Concer for George Harrison. That was the Rock and Roll induction ceremony in 2005. Prince was inducted that year. But yeah, great guitar performance non the less
All the rest of guitarists are doing that, and they "admit" it.Even if they don't admit it, I think they know it.Hendrix was really on a completely different level, not only as a guitarist, but as a musician.
what about Prince,Clapton,Kirk Hammett? those selections were lame. slash on sweet child is way better, eddie vh has way better examples, there's alot of modern talent too, not just classic rock. (page rocks, jimi, dave gilmore,) trent reznor, Purple Rain should definitely be in there
Yo pp you must be kidding, or you dont know shit about guitar, Where s Santana You dumbass, and Clapton and Prince? the SOUL of guitar is not those million notes per second. One note is enough, the RIGHT one...got it??
You gota be a wacked out rocker to think these are the top ten. Hendrix is 1,2 and 3 then Clapton and Santana 4th and 5th. Then Joe Walsh. Eddy who? Just kidding but so were you.... weren't you?
sounds like a dumb question but is this list based on your favourite top 10 solos or what you think other people would think are the most memorable etc? Does that make sense? Think so...
I'd almost forgotten how innovative the solo is on 'Watchtower'. It's genius conceptually (it's in five distinct sections), playing(Virtuosity and Soul)and in studio techniques(they invented new sounds for Hendrix. In addition given what his contemporaries were playing, i.e Clapton, Beck, the Beatles, et al. It was at least a generation ahead of its time.
Oh yeah, I suggest you look up Hendrix's 'Machine Gun'...the 9 minute version here on YouTube.
