Short of the hundreds of millions needed for a full animation, this is a great approach. Properly done, motion comics can be pretty damn good. Just look at the WATCHMEN adaptation.

Not crazy about the voices, but I'll still get the disc. It's freakin' expensive to go through book stores and comic book shops looking for the next issue. i might as well pay my 25 bucks for the whole thing!

Buffy/Willow voice actors kinda ruined the motion comic for me. Did either of them even research their parts? Damn. The video games had better voice actors than this. They took too much of a risk with them considering how lame season 8 became during/after "Retreat" :/

Comic Book Season 8 was...disappointing...

Don't get me wrong, it had important moments and callbacks (whole buffy/angel deeper meaning the first hinted, slayer organisations, etc)

However the main bad thing about Season8 is that...whedon just lost it. He took VERY good ideas that I am sure would have worked on tv show(buffy "general" to the slayers and so on) and then he put a lot of incoherent crap upon it.

Thanks to that he had to do a reset for S9 and all potential of that plot was lost

I really love Buffy, but to be honest, season 8 was kind of crap. If this motion comic thingy is just clip art from the comics and bad voice overs - and the trailer certainly gives that impression - I think I'll stay well clear of it.

Man I wish that some of the original cast were to do the voice overs for their respective characters. It just sounded...weird! But hey, might still give this a shot though I think it's just not gonna live up to my expectations. I grew up with Buffy and the comic series just seems different.

Well I look at it this way. If season 8 had alot of problems it was probably due to rethinking buffy into comic form. Now, if Whedon has the concept down than season 9 should flow much better than 8 did.

Season 8 is a steaming pile of shit. Stupid, convoluted storyline that doesn't follow the natural flow of the actual series, shoddy characterisation and a heavy reliance on gimmicks among other things... This is Whedon's cash cow, and very few people seem to realise that.
