  • im a buddhist and sometimes go

    to hawaii for this.

I go to the japanese buddhist group

    which is Shinyo-En

  • fucking wanna be fucks , fcck hawaiii

  • the chant is from the Kumulipo, the Hawaiian creation chant. its link to Kalakaua is that the version Aunty Nalani Olds chanted belongs to the Kalakaua lineage.

  • The lady chanting is my grandma!!!!!!

  • So, are you learning how to chant that way too?

  • So beautiful. What a wonderful way to show respect and rememberence to your ancestors. Thank you for sharing.

  • bruddah, the chanting is hawaiian.

  • This is from a Japanese Buddhist group called

    Shinyo-en.

    So its NOT traditional Buddhism.

  • what are u talking about "not traditional?" the teachings are based on the mahaparinirvana sutra and originated from the shingon school of esoteric buddhism in japan. just because things are done differently doesn't mean the meaning isn't traditional.

  • oh.... thats weird buddhists have kinda the same fimiliar thing.. we call it day to float candles.. =)

  • This is Shinnyo-en!!! My Temple hosts this. .__.

  • im buddhist my self but what kind of chant is this!? what language is it.. most buddhist chant in the language pali or baree how ever u wish to spell it.. thai's cambodian and most of southern asia chant that but what language is this.. i know its called quan low kra tong in thai. meaning day to sail flags. where we set small boats or just on lily pads into the water with fires, kinda the same but the chants u say r weird

  • well this depends on what types of buddhism you are talking about there is really just two sets of buddhism mahayana and theravada, as seeing you're thai most of the buddhists in that area adopted the theravada sect where as most of east asia and cambodia and vietnam have adopted more mahayana buddhism.

  • Erm.. the chant is in Hawaiian. .__. That's not a Buddhist Chant lols. It's a Hawaiian chant.

  • i'm sure if i heard your chants they would sound weird. just because they are not familiar to you does not mean they are weird. just different.

  • pretty cool as usual. thanks for sharing.
