Harvey is fortunate to have you playing his creation. You are fantastic. Would like to see what you could do with a You Rock Guitar. I have one and like it better than my Ztar.
@dandypajamas im a guitarist and pianist, and ive never fully understood what real tone actually matters to people. we live in the 21st century. technology evolves everything from music to films to general tv to businesses etc. as long as the passion is still behind the music it doesnt matter whether its a natural tone or an artificial one.
@jimmyguitarman i feel the same...if you gave beetoven a synth, or jimi a new multi effect pedal system, they would go crazy, and make even better music
At last someone that makes music on these things and not sounding like a really bad video game of the 80s.We need more of these videos to showcase what you can do with these guitars.Get a player to try and play realistic sax or violin for example and not some noob hacking away with horific syntesized sounds. These things already cost an arm and a leg at least show what they can really do.
omg, that is amazing, its the ultimate keyboard/guitar hybrid that can switch tones pitches and rythms, its like a guitar that can download new sound styles. MUST HAVE.
Are my eyes and ears decieving me, or is he showing that it's possible to fret more than one note at the same time on the same "string"? For instance, he frets a common voicing for a major 7th chord while soling on top of it, even though the left-hand voicing uses strings: 6,4,3 and 2 and the other two strings are also usually muted. Does anyone else have experience with a Ztar? I'm seriously considering buying one (the Baby-Z). Just curious.
@InsertName125 ... All Z-tar models are totally polyphonic (when set to the" poly" mode) , which means yes ,one is able to play " notes on top of notes " on any given "string" ...... Imagine the possibilities ! .... MB
Hey, thanks for the reply. You're a great player! It's nice to see someone really taking advantage of an instrument's capabilities like that. Most YouTube gear demo videos just confirm how many amateurs there are with a lot of money to spend on toys. Nice to see someone paying their gear the respect it deserves.
I was never into tapping on standard guitars because I didn't like what it did to the sound of the instrument, but I will definitely be getting into it with the Baby-Z. Thanks Again!
I picked up the Yamaha and powered it into my Prodeus 2000. It worked, but its definately a cheap into into the world of guitar-driven midi (notes cutout, unexpected shifts in note volume). I'm glad I tried it out though. I'd say this is a great way to go, but if you are really serious about it, the ztar is probably what you need.
Why couldn't you just use the Yamaha EZ-AG to do this? Just use it as a controller to power your synths, you can tap it too. I mean, 6 grand is kind of steep, don't ya think? When the yamaha is uhm...250 bucks??
first of all, most ztars are under $6,000. Secondly, ezag does not have as many frets as a ztar, nor is it touch sensitive. In fact, I could go on and on about features the ztar has that the ezag doesn't. The moral of the story is, you get what you pay for. ezag is good for beginners, but a pro guitarist/midi guitarist will need a ztar. Even the cheapest ztar ($1,500) is orders of magnitude more expressive than the ezag...
I love those classic Bianco arpegios that start around 2:28. You've got to put up some more simultaneos guitar videos Michael. Some of the pre Ztar Bianco.
At 2:12 he plays C minor, Eb minor and F minor then at 2:21 he plays B minor, D minor and F minor. Right after that it almost sounds like a small passage from Debussy's Claire de Lune!
@Hakkar6993 The Ztar is set up like a guitar so any guitar chord book will take care of your left hand fingerings . you can experiment with your right hand either by plucking the string triggers ( optional on most models ) or playing melodies on the fretboard
@Hakkar6993 Yes , Harvey builds left handed Ztars on special order . How to learn Ztar is up to the individual . It's not a question of reading or not reading music , that's the same with any musical instrument . A general basic knowledge of midi is helpful also.
You're a natural at this! Few can do what you are doing. Major Kudos. Great expression and technique, great choice of sampled instruments, everything. Nice quality on the audio recording too.
Great noodler!

But... it's still only midi and therefore not a real tone...
