Setting up Touch OSC with Ableton Live

I've been looking for a walkthrough like this for awhile. One question: my phone is not loading this video and I won't be able to watch until I get home. Is this a windows setup or apple? If it is an apple, do you know of a windows-based walkthrough? Thanks.

this doesnt work...i followed everything and when i go to the midi sync tab all i see is LV1 LX1 as a control surface...but on the input tab i see touchAble input 1

@fabs1289 There may be a few kinks in your system. Have installed the Live Control Script into the Ableton root folder? Let me know how else I can help!

hey there! so i have everything done as th tutorial said, but when i go to prefrences in LIVE, and go to the drop down menu, Livecontrol TO is not showing :/

@theirishfront12 Is there a chance you've updated Ableton Live since you first installed the Live Control Script on your computer? If so you'll have to re-install the script into your new Live Library. It doesn't move automatically. Kind of a Bummer!

great video, but i am having a problem where when i open up the liveControl and say to select livecontrol 1 port all i get is Microsoft GS wavetable or Microsoft Synthesizer which are both outputs. I followed every step in the video too

I've done everything in this video as you have (on my iphone) and now whenever I use ableton I am getting no sound at all. This is a problem as you can imagine. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

@loopsinworship yep bro, this morning i've tried and worked! now still doesn't work :| I've guessed that if i use Osculator or Processing, TouchOSC stops communicating with Live. Is it possible?

Thanks for this. I got everything working. Problem I have is I get a big black square inside the template once everything is connected. So half the screen is blacked out. Very strange, as I can launch clips where from the part of the screen that is visible.

All connected to same network etc. But had to enter ip manually. It's connected but when I try to download the layout onto the iPad it says downloading for about 15 secs until it says 'request timed out'

why wont this work for me!!

do you set the IP address as the one your computer is set as or the router IP adress.

my iphone wont pick up anything from my macbook pro when i press sync n its really annoying.

if anyone has any info on this or a video showing how to troubleshoot the problem il be grateful.

@malcomb111 With this template each clip on page 1 will launch clips in Session View. The track furthest to the right will launch the scenes in Session View. Session View is the "Vertical" view in live.

you must press the plus button and then type the ip adress manual.

@vintaking Make sure you installed the LiveControl template into the newest version of Live on your computer. I.e. as of 11.21.2011 it's 8.2.6. If it's still not working then then give Ableton or your computer a good ol' fashion reboot!

@ultra13nerd It's because it defaulted back to Network Session as my MIDI input. I just change it over to from Live Control. As long as you can change your setting to "from Live Control" you'll be fine

@ultra13nerd Have you installed the Live Control app into Live's app. folder? The most recent version of Live on your computer.. Also make sure that you have your iPad up and running Touch OSC at this point as well.

Hey man, thanks. Works good *except i get no response from the pad and keys tabs on the osc. I armed and selected the proper channel loaded with an operator, but it recieves no messages.

I would also love a link to a manual using some of the other pages, like the sequencer. I've been googleing it and haven't foubd any good documentation. thanks though. Well done!

@eldjswett Make sure you've got "Live Control 1" selected in the MIDI ports section of the Live Control app. This should let you trigger sounds and use the drum pads and keys. As far as a manual goes...good luck! You're googling is as good as mine!

Make sure you've uploaded the Live Control Template to the most recent version of Live that you're using.
