  • both pedals rock! i don't know why people look for "marshall in a box" and ignore these great pedals - furthermore Jackhammer's Distortion mode is actually old Shredmaster - believe me i own both!!

  • Sounds pretty much like Angus Young ! And hey great review and great playing ! I'm playing tunes like Van Halen,Guns N' Roses,Dokken and Ratt does the Jackhammer give me the saturated overdrive/distortion for that kinda tone ? :)

  • great review

  • @soundmusiclover thank you :)

  • what amp you used in this video?

    valve? or solid state?

  • @danilo22098 Hi, the amp is solid state, MG100DFX. I don't have this amp anymore, I am getting a Blackstar HT40 valve amp :D

  • 2 MINUTES TO MIDNIGHT !!!

  • @SalamisNuvolari5001 AWWW YEAHHHHH!

  • Great review dude.. decent sound and video quality too wich is NOT the norm on Youtube. I have the jackhammer and was thinking of getting another for overdrive but having heard this i may be looking for a Guvnor. You don't need to apologise for your playing BTW.

  • @ANDYROBINSONFOLK Thank's mate, appreciate the kind words :) I did like the jackhammer, but I found it a bit hard to control and a bit to trebbley (if that's a word lol). I find the guvnor a bit less harsh. Oh OK thank's! :D

  • These pedals are excellent value for the money. They sound close enough to Marshall's to my ear. Probably why Marshall discontinued them.

  • i've got the jh-1. have you tried the bb-2? what do you think, between gv-2 and bb-2, which would be better for boosting the amp? i know, bb has the boost mode, but this can be done with od at low gain-high volume settings, too... i'm interested in gv-2 because of the deep and mid pots... maybe i could crank the mid and fatten it up with the deep pot when boosting. what do you think?

  • liiittle to much input gain on your interface there :P

  • @lolmayonnaise There's always someone! But yes your right, I had only it for a few days so I was still getting the hang of it. Thank's for the comment!

  • Jackhammer sounded better for my ears, but these are two great pedals!

  • I fell in love with the guv'nor, lol I think I'll get it, but one question: I have a solid state amp (the Orange 20LDX) how do you think it will sound?

  • @Laura94tc With the clean channel on the amp it should sound fine as the pedal is doing all the work. Set all the clean EQ's on the amp to the sound you like in clean, then set the distortion sound you like on the pedal.

  • jackhammer sounds really good, i used to have the gv2 when i was in new college and just couldnt get a decent tone out of it EVER lol

  • @inmyazuredreams Sounds quite nice if you roll back the tone on the guitar. Can get some nice Clapton 'woman tones'!

    Thank's for the comment :)

  • JackHammer rocks!!!

    Nice video, btw.

  • @LeoBrazil89 Sure does, thank's!

  • Hey man great vid :) im looking at getting either of these pedals. Which one do u think is better for acdc/ thin lizzy/guns n roses/ bon jovi kind of music? I dont really like metal sounding stuff more classic rock. Thanks!

  • @ROSSER1303 Well if you are not into metal then the Guv'nor has a more blues/classic rock/hard rock kind of feel.

    Good taste in music btw!

    Thank's!

  • I like the GV-2 best. Sounds warmer.

  • @ec101dm

    yes

  • jh1 tone at 2:00 sounds realy realy cool!

  • good review man! i loved how you were so clear on your recording setup.

i would like to know what mode the jackhammer was in: overdrive or distortion??

i'm considering putting the jackhammer through a '76 london city tube head. right now i have an overpriced vox bulldog distortion but it really sucks.

  • @xrandolphx Hey thank's :D I did spend a lot of time micing it up properly, glad to know it paid off :) I switch from OD to DIST between 1:55 and 2:33

    OD sounds better IMO.

Go for it man, just keep the gain down low and wack the volume up to squeeze the tubes in the amp and get some nice natural tube distortion.

Vox is somewhat of an acquired taste, it does Brian May well, that's it really. Some good cleans though to be fair.

    Thank's for the comment!! \m/
