  • Always a class opening when Youngy and the boys played this at the Apollo (their spiritual home! happy days indeed ... just wish I could turn back time and live it all over again! :)

  • Back in 82 me and mrs DP rode 40 miles to Leicester Poly on an icy Feb night to see this band. They were fucking great. Their music stills cuts it . Brilliant band.

  • As this was the opening track to so many gigs it always fills me with anticipation! The best live band of their generation.......simply brilliant, thanks Dave xx

  • I keep watching these Sad Cafe videos and thinking the last song that I listened to was my favorite of theirs and then I come across another one. I remember hearing this one on the radio back in Buffalo NY when I was a kid.

  • Saw This band three times 78/79 in Liverpool and Southport. They were such a hard working band, they definitely 'paid their dues'. Fantastic live all great musicians

    R.I.P. Paul Young

  • Amazing band, great song - the live version took the roof off. I so hope we get to see Sad Cafe - Live re-released on CD.

  • I saw 'em @ Fairfield Halls back in '78. They played to an audience of about 30.

Fanx Ta Ra & Misplaced Ideals were part of the soundtrack of my mispent youth.

  • Pity the sound is so shit cause it's such a great song.

  • Versatile band. So full of imagination and musically really talented. I still can't understand why they didn't become more popular after 'Every Day Hurts' but I suppose we see this all the time. Another such British band, which had immense talent but never became 'popular' was Swing Out Sister. It's amazing what dross gets to the top !

  • I saw Sad Cafe as a warm up band for Santana back in Buffalo,NY 30 years ago. I was never much for unknown warm up bands, but these guys were great. I ended up buying two of their albums. This just happened to be one of my favorites. Thanks for the post.

  • Misplace Ideals was the tape I listened to in 1978 whilst recovering from an accident - just played it again OMFG it rocks. Saw Sad Cafe at Wigan Casino March 78 or so and a few times afterwards at the Apollo b 4 moving to Canada in 81
