  • I wonder wherefrom it was filmed. I think parts were filmed from the church at Plac Grzybowski showing ao house of Polish telefon Co. Other sites?

  • What a shame, all that destruction. Thanks for sharing this film of historical value.

  • @gorque thanks gorque!

  • where exactly was the old train station located?

  • Those ruins were "made" after carpet bombings during the siege in 1939!

  • I think this is probably after the Warsaw Uprising in 1944.

  • @CRACOVIA1515

No, the film surely is made before 1944. You see the damages of the bombings of 1939. On the views from an aerial perspective you see: There is a lot of destruction, but there are also a lot of houses which are undestroyed. After the Warsaw uprising 1944 it was impossible to find any houses in Warsaw undestroyed.

  • @Blankenborn You are correct. The film is indeed dated 1940

  • @CRACOVIA1515

No niekoniecznie. Wyraźnie widać, że jest to lato lub wiosna. Powstanie skończyło się w październiku 1944 w którym już było wyjątkowo jak na tę porę roku zimno. Także nie są to zdjęcia po Powstaniu.

  • very interesting to see the old railway station - between 0:20 and 0:30. it existed for only a couple of years (you can still see the construction going on).

  • It really makes a difference when you see something like this in color. It's not just some distant black-and-white film- it's vibrant.
