I think I'd build some grates on that Rig & have a diverter. It is sometimes very nice keeps you not so bent over the table area though. Hopefully Drilling hasn't ceased for everyone? Been drilling now for 14 yrs and now it looks like I might be venturing to another career??
man, i did this shit for 4 yrs. good money but can be hard work. the owner of the company was screwing me on pay, so i did somthing diff. thinking about maybe doing it again.
well i get paid 10 dollars an hour but we're working 80 hour weeks. we also do geo thermal so that might be a whole other show completely, but its still drilling. the hard hats are annoying as all hell to wear (we take them off when we can) but they have come in handy a few times. for example it saved my buddyes life when the cable on the winch snapped and dropped a rod. the cable cracked his hard hat.
drilling is good but its dangerous, i know a few drillers who only have 7 or 8 fingers left
If the government pays for your rig and the wells you drill in Africa than you can do well. Here in Ohio, well if you work really hard you may beak even if your lucky.
mate FFS get some hardhats. If a bolt or nut comes loose from up top, or something breaks, your gonna save yourself a lot of grief. Might keep the sun off your noggin too...... Have you thought about putting an operators platform on the rig? Keep your feet dry, specially with a cuttings diverter as well. Nothing worse than working in mud up to your knees and going home with wet feet.
Hope the young bloke becomes a driller, its a great life and the money is fantastic too.
They go through bedrock in mexico by hand its right here on youtube. The just pick axe the rock and break it up and use a pully and bucket to pull it up. Pretty simple plan but back breaking work. I imagine its a job that would take 2 american men 4-5 months to pull off for a 30 foot well. But hey if you dont have 10-20,000 and you need water or have dreams of cheap off grid property than its not a bad idea
thats indian music shithead

Why would you work 80 hr weeks for only 10 bucks an hour? really! We pay our driller assitants $28/hr plus bonus. our drillers are at $34-40/hr.
Put a diverter on that rig! How can you stand in that mess!

If the money is fantastic being a driller somewhere in the world, Then I need to move. Water well drilling in Ohio doesn't pay that much.

Looks like t64 to me, we run pin up on ours.
I like the midget helper - he's probably great for the stacker valve oil lines.
