  • This is a great drink. have you ever tried using vanilla vodka, in Australia i get Absolute Vanilla Vodka. Absolute is one of the main vodka suppliers in aus i duno what type of flavoured vodka you have in america but yeah, vanilla.

i am a huge fan of the whole coastal scene and love the beachy type drinks that you can see yourself drinking under a tree at the beach. keep them coming. i also love malibu... keep that coming

  • dude were you drunk filming this lol

  • nope! Of course I get that a lot (I answered the question more in general in some recent videos)

  • You must tell me where I can get a measuring cup like the one that I always see in your videos.

  • The OXO Measuring cups can be found on amazon, my website (linking to amazon), Linen's and Things, etc.

    Hope that helps!

  • lol, you'll have to start now, I'm already scheduled out until mid-july :) So, if you start now I'd have 'em for august :)

  • I got a pousse cafe style shot.

    Hot Apple Cider :

    1/3 oz Apple Schnapps

    1/3 oz Cinnamon Schnapps

    1/3 oz Apple Juice

  • Freaking Green Drink :

    1 ounce midori

    1 ounce sweet/sour mix

    1/2 ounce blue curasco

    1/2 ounce spiced rum

    1/2 ounce white tequilla

after you shake sink some grenadine. It's stronger than my usual drinks haha.

  • Derrick! Good stuff buddy. I'm glad you've liked both my drinks! ;)

  • I've been waiting all day for your comment. :) I knew it would come eventually, just thought you'd have caught it sooner! I'm too fast! too fast I say!

  • Lol, maybe I'll try really hard to get you a recipe every week. (Doubt it)

  • I'm relatively sure it was blue. and its easy to tell if someone is a witch- they float hahahahah

  • I usually drink Absinthe straight- sugar with cold water dripped over untill the sugar dissolves- but I did try a Absinthe Frappe once which wasn't to shabby. I think it was:

    .5 oz of curucao

    1 oz of Absinthe

    2 parts orange juice

    1 part lemon juice

and there was an orange slice.

  • Blue or orange Curacao? Probably blue, but just confirming my suspicions.

  • Absinthe: I've never mixed it with any other liquors.

  • I know some classic cocktails utilize Absinthe, so I'm probably going to work towards a few of those in the month of July. Get a little fennel/anise flavorings, sorta like a high potent sambuca with less sweet factor.

  • seems like you were just having one of those days derek, hello from across the pond by the way over in the UK... your videos really inspire me to keep working on my cocktail knowledge, thanks :)

  • Hey, glad we've got some UK folks on board. I was over in London last year for the first time, great place, nice bars!

I did a lot of walking, getting in a car in the middle of a city which drives reverse from my own was way too much to handle :)

    Drink on!

  • haha, I know the feeling, it throws me when I get over onto the continent over here :)

Would be great to see some more ideas for the frangelico, It's fast becoming a favourite at the bar I work at...

  • Yep, I was lucky enough to be in the back seat of a car driving into Boston and the driver was from London. It was an extremely scary experience. We once turned into oncoming traffic at a green light and managed to get out of the way just in time not to die :)

I'll work more on the Frangelico, it's tough too use too much as it can quickly overpower a cocktail. It's got a great nutty taste to it though!

  • One you may be interested in is the choco-nut martini...

    1 Oz Smirnoff Blue Vodka

    1 Oz frangelico

    1 Oz creme de cacao

    2 Oz half and half

    Sprinkle Chocolate Powder

5 oz Martini Glass Add all ingredients to Boston Shaker and shake well over ice. Strain and top with chocolate powder

and absinthe... I don't use it in cocktails, just straight after the standard sugar drip ;)

  • That sounds good, I have some chocolate powder for a chocolate wine cocktail (with ecco domani) next month, maybe I can use that powder for this as well. Unfortunately the last two guest episodes with HelloVino using ecco domani have been too large to fit on youtube (gotta cut 'em down a bit).

As for absinthe, I've always louche'd my absinthe w/ sugar too. Is absinthe popular in the UK?

  • I think its more popular than over in the US, but it's still quite hard to come across any good proper absinthe, it still has quite a stigma around it due to the wormwood aspect...

  • Yeah, the "hallucinations" and all the pre-prohibition bullcrap that is unfounded and build on lack of science and proper understandings from the 1900's. We also used to shoot each other in the streets in duals and thought witches weighted the same as chickens :)

I'm going to work to remove such stigma's in the coming months (I hope)

  • hope you manage, it's something that most definately needs to be done...
