kinda cool toys, but look nowhere like the cars from the atari arcade game, must not be the same, oh, well, thanks for the upload, kinda cheesy ad, but that was the order of the day, it seems, thanks for the upload
ive been looking for the name of this toy for a long time, i didnt have any as i was a poor kid and small toys were often the fastest to be lost so no lego or matchbox but i want to say thank you as my inquest is done
These were absolutely THE best damn die-cast cars EVARRRR~!! I had the "leader" of the bad guys -- the coolest AND fastest of them all (yes -- these things actually had trademark SPEED).
Damn I've forgotten 'his' name. It the one one the left in the commercial here. The one on the right is the leader of the goodies.
Anyhoo... in highschool we'd race these on the roof of a sheltered walkway. And they wondered why I always won (simply coz I got the char who was fastest in the series)!!
I actually completed both teams when they were still available. Was the Roadblasters line the possible forerunner of Hot Wheels' World Race, Acceleracers, and Battle Force Five lines?
it most certainly is related. the music heard in the ad is an arrangement of the theme played in the attract mode in the original arcade version from atari, 1987. i think you have to let the attract mode cycle 3 times before it plays the music.
Blimey, I remember thinking, I wish I had a place like the ones in the commercial. the flat lands or rocky mountains. Jungles. All I had was the back yard of the trailer park. LOL
If you buy 50 of them, you get a free t-shirt :-)

I never knew that there was a toy tie-in to the arcade game until fairly recently.

I love the laser effects in the CG part. Back then, lasers went "pew pew". No exceptions.

Oh yeah -- and these were SO much better in design and finish as those crap ass Hotwheels. Hotwheels sucks arse in quality compared to these.
