That's because it's a base model, dipwad.

OP, you need to rev match those downshifts, or you'll either be paying big bucks for new clutch or a couple of new gearsets. It's also wise to stay out of VTEC range on downshifts.

@bixler90 i have to disagree strongly with the vsa helping you launch, its not a launch control it will continue to retard the ignition until u gain traction resulting with your car falling on its face outta the hole. these cars make power in vtech and u wanna keep it as close to it as possible and u do that by spinning of the line keeping ur revs high and running first gear all the way out until it hooks then shift. i just cant se how it would help or all pros would have it?

Um, yes, plenty of cars have shift lights indicating when it's time to shift. Si does to.

It has nothing to do with being lazy, it indicates to you, the driver, without looking at the tach (you know, because you should be concentrating on driving, if you're redlining the car), when you are getting close to the redline, and to lets you know, easily, and quickly, that you need to shift.

Oh old comment spam btw; yes kmr386 (btw, hi on the 8th), my Mom had a VW Golf that actually had a light on the dash tell you when to shift, not redline. It wasn't a lazy thing, it was something to tell you how to get the best mileage or something. It worked horrid, and no one ever paid attention to it.

But yeah, they've had it, didn't work out, and I would imagine that's gone into the trash at this point. Probably could do a better job with it now, considering technology (this was like 96 btw)

yeah i have an 07 civic ex automatic trans and I'm always accelerating fast from fist gear to 2nd until i hit d, i know is not a manual trans but i habe so far 22k miles on and it still works fine no problem, so yeah i think the si could handle that and waayyyyyy more, because i sometimes abuse mine, and its not for racing, so i think honda r ok.

It's called heads up driving. The corvette and a cadillac have it too. I have an Si and it's nice not having to look down everytime to see the MPH. Also this guy is not a great driver. Maybe because he has a camera in his hands. "Dropping the gears" from 6th to 2nd is not a smart move. That never happens in racing. Maybe you can skip a gear when downshifting, but not four. Thanks.
