@1Delly - I was in the production department at a set of 6 radio stations in NW Arizona several years ago. Having been forced into a sales meeting called to look for promotions for Thanksgiving/Xmas...I actually made this suggestion about dropping live turkeys out of a chopper. Being the station manager/owner was not the smartest cookie in the book...I thought they might do it. Ended up throwing paper cutouts of turkeys from the roof of the grocery store.

wkrp was a great show, and this was a great episode, and yet i think this scene has a misspeaking in it. i think carlson meant to say, "with god as my witness---", instead of saying, "as god as my witness---". i would certainly use the word "with", not "as". i think it's a blooper. on 2nd thought, maybe he said, "as god is my witness", not "as god as my witness.", in which case the video-poster got the word after "god" wrong. i think my 2nd guess is right. i think he said, "is" after "god".

Hysterical! When the show was rereleased for rerun on tv I taped their marathon. I let my sis watch it while she exercised. She was working out with light free weights. I came in to catch her reaction to this episode. I got there in time to see her laugh uncontrollably and drop the dumb bell!

This was the best show of it's time and after working in radio all these years it was just so close to how it really was around a station....we had people just as these who should have written for this show....I knew people over the years WKRP actors could not hold a candle too. However this line was one of the best....I am from the country and wild ones do fly....

One of the genius things about this show - and this episode in particular - is that so much of the subtext and back story was never seen or heard, yet it was there in our mind's eye, primed and ready when the punchlines were delivered.

Case in point, there was not a single turkey in "Turkeys Away!" and I don't think there was even the sound of gobbling as Les was making his live report.
