there is no need to debate jennifer vs bailey. they are 2 sides of the same coin. like stevie nicks and christie mcvie, laverne and shirley, scarlett and melanie, mary ann and ginger...... they belong together.
I was wondering if anyone knows where I can buy all of the WKRP episodes with the original music. Its my favourite show - I'm only sorry I didn't tape them when I had the chance. - the new version with the altered music just isn't the same.
@1Delly - I was in the production department at a set of 6 radio stations in NW Arizona several years ago. Having been forced into a sales meeting called to look for promotions for Thanksgiving/Xmas...I actually made this suggestion about dropping live turkeys out of a chopper. Being the station manager/owner was not the smartest cookie in the book...I thought they might do it. Ended up throwing paper cutouts of turkeys from the roof of the grocery store.
wkrp was a great show, and this was a great episode, and yet i think this scene has a misspeaking in it. i think carlson meant to say, "with god as my witness---", instead of saying, "as god as my witness---". i would certainly use the word "with", not "as". i think it's a blooper. on 2nd thought, maybe he said, "as god is my witness", not "as god as my witness.", in which case the video-poster got the word after "god" wrong. i think my 2nd guess is right. i think he said, "is" after "god".
@usagitobasu thanks for the info. i wasn't even thinking of that movie. i've seen only little pieces of it. based on what i've heard, i think ms. o'hara's side of the war didn't fare so well.
Hysterical! When the show was rereleased for rerun on tv I taped their marathon. I let my sis watch it while she exercised. She was working out with light free weights. I came in to catch her reaction to this episode. I got there in time to see her laugh uncontrollably and drop the dumb bell!
If anybodys interested I've just uploaded THREES COMPANY episodes in HIGH DEFINITION 1080p check out my channel. Leave a comment on them episodes and tell me hows the quality.
I loved this episode. Another was the one where they all meet in the 3D porn movie. It wasn't until years later that I figured out why they were all ducking at the same time. Classic.
This was the best show of it's time and after working in radio all these years it was just so close to how it really was around a station....we had people just as these who should have written for this show....I knew people over the years WKRP actors could not hold a candle too. However this line was one of the best....I am from the country and wild ones do fly....
My wife didn't get why this was so funny. I had to give her the context that, at the type this was shown, this kind of humor was really out there and edgy and, thus memorable.
This episode had to be one of the all time great moments of comedy. I still remember laughing until it hurt, and when I thought it was over, it was punctuated with that last line and I was laughing again.
It was a brilliant comedy moment but I was shocked to recently read that even the heaviest male domesticated turkey can fly for up to 100 yards to nest in small trees so even if they were dropped from 2000 feet some of them might have been able to glide to a safe landing. Or maybe not.
I allways like this show from the start. Some of the funniest people and best lines on the BOOB-TUBE at the time. Who could complain about the women?? Bailey was the hottest ! ! ! Fever was cool man.
One of the genius things about this show - and this episode in particular - is that so much of the subtext and back story was never seen or heard, yet it was there in our mind's eye, primed and ready when the punchlines were delivered.
Case in point, there was not a single turkey in "Turkeys Away!" and I don't think there was even the sound of gobbling as Les was making his live report.
@Kirok Trust me, you're definitely NOT alone. She was, and probably still is gorgeous. She's in her 60s now and I bet she's still every bit as drop-dead beautiful as she was then.
