  • lol i like that song.just version bonnie+good and have + history)

  • repent everyone to Jesus christ. Worthy is true is Jesus christ and his judgements.

  • I never knew this was originally an Irish folk song, good though.

  • lo, this was first...bonnie blue flag was written to the tune....those irish influenced alot of CS songs

  • @larsjake Well, I think that's because the Confederacy was mostly made up of Irishmen, or Irish descendants.

  • @TheJamesDun Ah, not as true as you would think. The english were quite prevalent in the south, along with the french and german. I would not say as a fact that they were "Mostly made up of Irishmen" though.

  • @larsjake,

Have you ever noticed that the Irish tunes are often anti-war, but the Confederacy changed the lyrics to make them pro-war?

  • @MegaAstrodude the british did the same, johnny i hardly knew ye being an irish anti war song, then being used by both sides of the civil war as johnny comes marching home, then being used by the british as tommy comes marching home, just shows how governments use pop culture to subvert folk music into propaganda

  • @blackstonewielder19,

I didn't know that. The Confederates also took "Johnny I Hardly Knew Ye" and made "When Johnny Comes Marching Home" and the Union even wrote their own lyrics too. I guess you're right; governments make propaganda out of folk music.

  • Hoorah for the Bonnie Blue Flag that bears a single star.

  • great stuff good ol' irish music just visited last summer

  • Lucky. I would love to travel to some of these places.
