I am not impressed with Vliburn's interpretation. I have always loved this piece and know every note of it. I don't know where Cliburn got his music. Sorry, I think he bangs his way through it.

This performance by the legendary Van Cliburn is a tour de force extroardinaire.
He also recorded the best Prokofiev 3rd piano concerto for sheer wit, irony, and spirit eminating everywhere.

Yes, it is one of the best interpretation of this extraordinary piece I have ever heard.
