better 3 point shooter. MJ was a better scorer, rebounder, passer, defender and athlete. Jordan was a vastly more efficient scorer, MJs field goal percentage was .497 to Kobe's .454. Michael also won 6 rings as the number 1 player on his team, only 2 of Kobe's rings were from when he was the main man, thats not taking in to account Pau Gasol being the better player in the 2010 finals. I really think Kobe ruined his chances of being a top 5 player of all time when he threw in the towel in against
of a far inferior player, that player being Kobe due to his penchant for styling his game after MJ. Truth be told a far better argument would be whether Kobe is even a top ten player. Many players such as Larry Bird,Magic Johnson,Bill Russell,Kareem Abdul-Jabbar,Wilt Chamberlain,Shaq,Tim Duncan,Hakeem Olajuwon,Oscar Robertson and Jerry West could all be argued as being superior players, many of them are in my opinion. I still can't quite decipher what the case for Kobe is, other than him being a
MJ is undisputedly the greatest of all time, the only reason some people argue Kobe is better is because the NBA is the only major North American sport that has a clear greatest player of all time whereas the NFL,NHL and MLB all have multiple players throughout history that an argument can be made that they are the greatest of all time. Some NBA fans feel left out being that there is no real case to be made for anyone being superior to Jordan. Those certain fans have decided to plead the case
@cmh522 lebron james didn't play 15 years yet.... also, buzzer beaters can be a bit overreated, would you rather win by 5 with a minute left or have to come back? Bulls played a lot of close games... He has 2-3 and 1 vs Orlando in the playoffs, and you can't say buzzer beaters, because more than half of Jordans were with time on the clock, especially the last one... last made shot of the game, that's the key, either down or tied,
Along with what should be considered freakish athleticism, Jordan had the best shot release in the game. He could double or triple clutch and still fire the shot as if he had all day to set up and shoot. Always amazing to watch
you want to know why we all still think michael jordan is the best that ever was? Just look at all the people in the stands. They stand up every time he gets the ball near the end. EPIC
LA has been my team for ever but I was always a Jordan fan. It was hard when the LA dynasty was on the way down the Jordan era was on the way up. Against anyone, you just knew Michael was gonna do something to turn a game around so they could win. And when it didn't happen we all knew he was gonna put a pounding to em the next time they met and the next. When the Bulls lost it was like the other team just got lucky.
The reason Jordan was such a clutch player was because he had a hard work ethic. He practiced those types of shots constantly and whenever his team trusted him with the game-winning shot, he never got nervous because he wasn't scared to miss it. He knew that he did everything and anything possible to prepare himself for those kinds of situations, so he'd have no excuse if he missed the shot. If he missed, he'd shrug it off and just say, "It wasn't meant to be" and move on.
What was amazing about Michael was his ability to thrive under extreme pressure that has eaten other players alive. He had numerous buzzer beaters in the playoffs when there is intense pressure to succeed. Him and Jerry West thrived under those conditions like no others have. Look at #3 in this list. It was an elimination game down 1 with three second left and Michael takes the ball, double clutches and drains the shot to eliminate the Cavs. Very few guys would make that with all the pressure.
@Beaverfan731 I'm with ya. That guy completely abused people mentally. He was a superior athlete physically, but his mental game is second to no one. I miss watching that guy play. I buy Jordan stuff all the time so that when my kids are old enough to appreciate it, I'm gonna but him out and say "watch this shit." They'll be in awe as I still am when I watch these older clips. Crazy thing is, I remember where I was when I saw these highlights happen live. MJ was redonk.
watch it in slow motion the last shot, yeah he had hsi hand on him but there is no push off, this might sound stupid but check his arm muscles when u push stuff they come out, they didnt he was crossing over and switched ball hands if ur pushing someone with your furthest hand ur not going to switch hands with the ball, he broke russells ankles, sucks to suck
He's the best, but the last one @4:15 which is the most famous (title clincher), he pushed Bryon Russell aside- offensive foul! What ref would have the balls to call that one?
@leepipesateneo OK, just for you I checked it again. 4:30- Yep, I see Jordan's left hand push Russell's right thigh- Russell loses his balance... allows Mike to create space... shot- dagger! ___Yeah, just what I said.
@emmettk they couldn't call it an offensive foul at the time since no hand check meant you could have your hand on an opponent but as long as you don't knock him over, it was good. very hard to call but it was obviously not a charge and it looked like a slip, so to call a sketchy offensive foul with the game on the line...you're right,no ref would have the balls to call that one. it's funny how in the nba today, a little hand contact and it's already a violation haha. 90's ftw
bballgmr, dam son that is sickkk. That's spurting from someone who s the shortest on his team but finish alley dunks. I followed the dunk training program over at "50-inch-vertical(dot)com" and gained past 15 inches on my leap.
I feel like there's no real pressure when the scores tied ya know, cause if you miss then you still get another chance to win the game. The real pressure is when you're losing by 1 and you absolutely have to make the shot.
@tazzythespazzy yea I agree. I'm a HUGE kobe fan. I think the difference between them is that there were alot of playoff game winners in this video (5 of them were in the playoffs i think- cleveland, detroit, utah 2x, and the lakers).
@ajbq I am pretty sure a carry is if you hesitate to dribble for a second while taking two steps and dribbling again. I'm used to calling out carries because I used to do it all the time. I know what it looks like.
@Demonman26 do u play basketball yourself? if #8 was carry then #2 is also a carry. how do u think they do cross-overs? of course they put their hand out for a second and put back in to trick the other player. watch iverson cross-overs. also are u a MJ fan or not? also are you familiar to hop step or bunny hop or jump stop?
@Demonman26 Lmao, everything is a foul for you. You're not a pro like Michael Jordan. Are saying you know more than Michael? If u say 10, 9, 8,7 are all violations then the referee would have called them. There's only one time i saw Michael Jordan travel and that was 5 steps, you can search it here. Although I might agree with you at #8 because I just looked closely now and the ball did rest on his palm. So you're right about #8, but everything else you're wrong.
@Demonman26 I also take back what i said. theres nothing wrong with #8. u're wrong on #10 too. at #7 the defender knocked the ball off Jordan's hand so he's allowed to dribble again. also he didn't move his pivot foot if u look closely. Lastly, talk to some real referees and show them this video and ask them if 10 and 8 are carries.
get an official rule book and study what a carry really is.
@ajbq Obviously you're look looking close enough. Take a CLOSE look at number 7 when Michael gets the possession of the ball. Right away you can see he changes his pivot foot during the possession. It was THEN the defender picked the ball after he took the steps. Those other two violations WERE, in fact, carries because they hesitated while taking their two steps and picking up the dribble again. It doesn't need to rest in the player's palm. It is still considered a carry.
@ajbq Way to comment 3 times. Wanted to get my attention huh? You can go back to playing basketball with the special ed class and I'll go back to playing fundamental basketball.
when he got the ball.. look closely on the left foot.. he just lifted his heels, not the entire foot.. second, the ball was knocked from his hands.. while the ball was bouncing, he dribbled it.. LOL!
@kingtoooooot I don't even think you watched the clip. First of all, watch BOTH feet. He pivoted on both of his feet when he first caught the ball. I realize the ball was knocked from his hands, but that was after the travel.
@Demonman26 LOL! I think ur the one who didn't watch..
Look closely.
He JUMPED to get the ball. When he landed, he moved his right foot, then lifted his left heel, then he moved his right foot again. Tell me.. where was the changing of pivot foot?
@xxBRossxx Exactly. Plus when the game is on the line, refs don't care about small details. They'll look for big things like fouls. Although, if the violation is blatant, they will call it. Jordan slips by a lot.
@Demonman26 That's not a carry, inorder for it to be a carry Jordan would have to have taken a full forward step and not a bounce in his movement! and his hand was never fully beneath the ball, he brought the ball up and moved forward by time he took the step the ball was already on it's way down to the floor, not at 1:18 the ref is looking right at him. It's close, but not a carry!
@vincespell I'm so sick and tired of arguing. Look at number 8 CLOSELY, OK? Watch when he gets possession of the ball, he plants his feet. WATCH HIS FEET. 4 steps. He took 4 steps, how are you not going to call that a carry? By the way, during crucial moments of the game, refs aren't paying attention to small shit like carries and travels. They look for fouls. They only watch the hands.
Jordan=NBA Greatness! Lots of great players these days, but this guy, ...The legend of all legends! The game should be called Michaelball ,instead of basketball...
Anybody comparing Kobe to MJ is just a fool. Kobe won his first 3 rings with Shaq. The Lakers wouldn't have even made the playoffs without Shaq. Kobe came to a good team. MJ came to one of the worst teams at the time and took them all the way to the championship. Watching these highlights just showed how different the two are. Did Kobe ever have a buzzer beater to win a series? Did he ever have a last second shot to win a championship? HELL NO. Kobe is a great player but he is not MJ.
@GreenKadi People comparing Kobe and MJ have a valid point. He's the closest thing to MJ... You don't have to down Kobe to praise MJ. MJ's game speaks for it self as well as Kobe's stands alone. But I also give MJ the nod
@sinles15 Dude, Kobe is a great player no doubt but MJ is the greatest hands down. I would compare Kobe to the likes of Magic, Bird and Kareem but not MJ. MJ is in a league by himself.
@GreenKadi Bro get real who wins a championship by THEMSELVES ......
"Kobe won his first 3 rings with Shaq" well yea ?.... Jordan won his 1st 3 with pippen ....he said it himself he would NEVER be jordan & doesnt wana be jordan .
Chamberlin > Magic/Bird > Jordan > Kobe > LeBron > Me :D
@AIRKIDonDECK First of all he can't be Jordan since no one can. Secondly, it's different to win with Shaq who is one if not the greatest center of all time. Jordan would have the title every year had he had Shaq from the beginning of his career :D
Also, Chamberlin could have been the greatest of all time if he had the passion that the great ones had. He was more concerned about his stats more than anything else and ask Bill Russell about it ;)
@AIRKIDonDECK with pippen? a player with 16 points per game in all his career ??? magic won all his championships playing with kareem apdul jabbar (6 regular season mvp,s) and a lot of all stars players like worthy, nixon, wilkes or mcadoo...and bird played with a initial team whose all the players were players of all star games: mchale, d. johnson, d ainge and robert parish... so dont say stupid things
@GreenKadi Like Kobe won his rings with Shaq. Jordan won his rings with Pippen. Do you think Jordan would have 6 rings without Pippen playing PG at times, rebounding, and with his excellent defense? No. It takes at least 2 stars on a team to win a championship. Like you said Kobe won them with Shaq, Shaq couldn't have won them without Kobe, the guy averaged 26 Points, 6 Rebounds, and 5 Assists, clearly a reason why Shaq has 4 rings, other one was from D Wade averaging 34.7 PPG in the Finals.
@GreenKadi well actually when jordan left after his 3rd chamionship the bulls won 55 games and probably should have gone to the eastern conference finals if it wasnt for a controversial call in game 5 witht he game on the line. You people give mike way too much credit. Jordan is and will always be best player to ever play the game but kobe is the closest thing to him which is why we all compare the two
@chesschampion94 Dude, winning game 5 wouldn't have meant winning the series. I agree that Kobe is the closest thing to MJ. When u get in trouble offensively, u can just drop the ball to Shaq and he will take care of it. Few people have forced the NBA to change their rulse and Shaq is one. Pippen couldn't do that but MJ had to do it all the time. Even u see Kobe try too much these days to win games by himself and still gets bailed out by the likes of Artest and Gasol.
@BeastMode26944 If you really compare? You have to compare many things. Like competition and defense and % and clutch and leadership and all around game. 80's ball was better than jordans ball anyway
thumbs up if u think mj is the best player ever

@tazzythespazzy yea I agree. I'm a HUGE kobe fan. I think the difference between them is that there were alot of playoff game winners in this video (5 of them were in the playoffs i think- cleveland, detroit, utah 2x, and the lakers).

Lmao number 8. What a carry.
Demonman26 1 year ago 3
@Demonman26 looool never noticed that. He definitely did haha
bballgmr 1 year ago
@Demonman26 that wasn't a carry since he didn't carry the ball in his arm. it's allowed.
ajbq 1 year ago
@ajbq I am pretty sure a carry is if you hesitate to dribble for a second while taking two steps and dribbling again. I'm used to calling out carries because I used to do it all the time. I know what it looks like.

ajbq 1 year ago
@ajbq Well he still picked up his dribble and dribbled again while still in motion, all while taking two steps.
Demonman26 1 year ago
@Demonman26 do u play basketball yourself? if #8 was carry then #2 is also a carry. how do u think they do cross-overs? of course they put their hand out for a second and put back in to trick the other player. watch iverson cross-overs. also are u a MJ fan or not? also are you familiar to hop step or bunny hop or jump stop?
ajbq 1 year ago
@ajbq I play basketball on a regular basis. I also noticed that 10 was a carry, 9 was a travel, 7 was a travel.
Demonman26 1 year ago
@Demonman26 Lmao, everything is a foul for you. You're not a pro like Michael Jordan. Are saying you know more than Michael? If u say 10, 9, 8,7 are all violations then the referee would have called them. There's only one time i saw Michael Jordan travel and that was 5 steps, you can search it here. Although I might agree with you at #8 because I just looked closely now and the ball did rest on his palm. So you're right about #8, but everything else you're wrong.
ajbq 1 year ago
@ajbq 10) Scotty had the ball, rested in his palm and he even took two steps. Started to dribble again.
9) I'll take it back. It was only two steps.
7) Mike had the ball and changed his pivot foot. Twice.
I call every violation I see in the games I play, whether it be against me or my teammates.
Demonman26 1 year ago
@Demonman26 I also take back what i said. theres nothing wrong with #8. u're wrong on #10 too. at #7 the defender knocked the ball off Jordan's hand so he's allowed to dribble again. also he didn't move his pivot foot if u look closely. Lastly, talk to some real referees and show them this video and ask them if 10 and 8 are carries.
get an official rule book and study what a carry really is.
ajbq 1 year ago
@ajbq Obviously you're look looking close enough. Take a CLOSE look at number 7 when Michael gets the possession of the ball. Right away you can see he changes his pivot foot during the possession. It was THEN the defender picked the ball after he took the steps. Those other two violations WERE, in fact, carries because they hesitated while taking their two steps and picking up the dribble again. It doesn't need to rest in the player's palm. It is still considered a carry.

when he got the ball.. look closely on the left foot.. he just lifted his heels, not the entire foot.. second, the ball was knocked from his hands.. while the ball was bouncing, he dribbled it.. LOL!
kingtoooooot 10 months ago
@kingtoooooot I don't even think you watched the clip. First of all, watch BOTH feet. He pivoted on both of his feet when he first caught the ball. I realize the ball was knocked from his hands, but that was after the travel.
Demonman26 10 months ago
@Demonman26 LOL! I think ur the one who didn't watch..
Look closely.
He JUMPED to get the ball. When he landed, he moved his right foot, then lifted his left heel, then he moved his right foot again. Tell me.. where was the changing of pivot foot?
Do u play bball? just asking..
kingtoooooot 10 months ago
@Demonman26 lol, he gets star treatment
xxBRossxx 10 months ago
@xxBRossxx Exactly. Plus when the game is on the line, refs don't care about small details. They'll look for big things like fouls. Although, if the violation is blatant, they will call it. Jordan slips by a lot.
Demonman26 10 months ago
@Demonman26 That's not a carry, inorder for it to be a carry Jordan would have to have taken a full forward step and not a bounce in his movement! and his hand was never fully beneath the ball, he brought the ball up and moved forward by time he took the step the ball was already on it's way down to the floor, not at 1:18 the ref is looking right at him. It's close, but not a carry!
vincespell 10 months ago
@vincespell I'm so sick and tired of arguing. Look at number 8 CLOSELY, OK? Watch when he gets possession of the ball, he plants his feet. WATCH HIS FEET. 4 steps. He took 4 steps, how are you not going to call that a carry? By the way, during crucial moments of the game, refs aren't paying attention to small shit like carries and travels. They look for fouls. They only watch the hands.

GreenKadi 1 year ago 24
@GreenKadi People comparing Kobe and MJ have a valid point. He's the closest thing to MJ... You don't have to down Kobe to praise MJ. MJ's game speaks for it self as well as Kobe's stands alone. But I also give MJ the nod
sinles15 1 year ago
@sinles15 Dude, Kobe is a great player no doubt but MJ is the greatest hands down. I would compare Kobe to the likes of Magic, Bird and Kareem but not MJ. MJ is in a league by himself.

@GreenKadi i totally agree.

AIRKIDonDECK 11 months ago
@AIRKIDonDECK First of all he can't be Jordan since no one can. Secondly, it's different to win with Shaq who is one if not the greatest center of all time. Jordan would have the title every year had he had Shaq from the beginning of his career :D
Also, Chamberlin could have been the greatest of all time if he had the passion that the great ones had. He was more concerned about his stats more than anything else and ask Bill Russell about it ;)
GreenKadi 11 months ago
@AIRKIDonDECK with pippen? a player with 16 points per game in all his career ??? magic won all his championships playing with kareem apdul jabbar (6 regular season mvp,s) and a lot of all stars players like worthy, nixon, wilkes or mcadoo...and bird played with a initial team whose all the players were players of all star games: mchale, d. johnson, d ainge and robert parish... so dont say stupid things

dimitri1990 10 months ago
AllKobe24 11 months ago
@GreenKadi well actually when jordan left after his 3rd chamionship the bulls won 55 games and probably should have gone to the eastern conference finals if it wasnt for a controversial call in game 5 witht he game on the line. You people give mike way too much credit. Jordan is and will always be best player to ever play the game but kobe is the closest thing to him which is why we all compare the two
chesschampion94 10 months ago
@chesschampion94 Dude, winning game 5 wouldn't have meant winning the series. I agree that Kobe is the closest thing to MJ. When u get in trouble offensively, u can just drop the ball to Shaq and he will take care of it. Few people have forced the NBA to change their rulse and Shaq is one. Pippen couldn't do that but MJ had to do it all the time. Even u see Kobe try too much these days to win games by himself and still gets bailed out by the likes of Artest and Gasol.
