Best big gig I ever went to. Once it stopped raining, and once Tears For Fears had buggered off, the Quo came on and everyone started moving. The rain of plastic bottles halfway-through, Cliff looking DECIDEDLY pissed-off when Hank took a solo, the moment Jimmy Page walked on to join Robert Plant, McCartney doing 'Hey Jude', and 'Run Like Hell' in the chucking rain. Awesome!
@Katiepoosful You're decidedly very lucky, Eric just resurrected the song for his 11-night residency at the Royal Albert Hall, I watched an extract from the 1st night show. A very nice surprise, as Slowhand stopped performing this August classic since 1998.
BTW Michelle John's vocals were incredible, not as good as Tina, Katie and Sheryl.
@strawer Hello there. I can never afford the damn RAH gigs. Would love to see him there though. I didn't see him at all this year :-( But am doing Derek Trucks and Mrs Trucks (Susan Tedeschi) next week. Woohoo!
i m glad u posted this.....wen i 1st seen this 20 yrs ago i think....rrrrr thats why they say brillient guitarist......plus the band is awesom and the chicks hot :)
It's hard to know where to start on this one: Is it the insane in-the-pocket rhythm section of nathan east and steve ferrone? Or Nathan alone with the bass lines that KILL, just listen to that player! WOW!. Or Eric's first solo chorus? Or at the end where they all dance and the band doubletimes it and Eric blows through another smoking solo chorus? Stunning live track! Long Live Eric!
@guglielmo64 Thanks for the info. I notice that everyone on stage is really enjoying themselves, and each other. Just a great time, and one hell of number, too. Drummers are superb, too. Don't know them, either.
@jester295 Thanks. I think they are quite good, and entertaining, too. They are both obviously having fun on this gig, as is everyone else. Quite a relaxed stage, with everyone having a real good time.
@Catsnamed thanks.. yeah it was a benefit concert for a music collage for the deaf and also the brits school. knebworth '90 i remeber it being on tv when i was a kid.
His hairstyle, combined with the tight beard, was pretty cool. It's sad he decided to not kept it anymore. But it depends the tastes of everyone to judge how Clapton would look.
A lot of people says that this particular one was the worst of all Clapton hair and facial stylings.
The man's unbelievable...through his long, dark trip through heroin and alcohol addiction, he somehow managed to keep making music. What could he have done if he had had his head together? He's sober now and sounds better than ever. Salute to you Eric...
Isn't this description a double fucking Oxy-Moron with a doubled fucking descriptor added-in, and with an unknown adjective also added in? However, I do agree with your statement that "This fucking 'ROCKS'... LOL!!!....
Whoa, that lady sings this rendition better than Tina Turner. This girl has very strong pipes. Not raspy like Tina; clear and projecting. And man is she HOT!
This vid just knocked the live in Hyde Park version from the first place. It has everything! East dancing around, cooper being badass and clapton in a pink suit!
No one loves it more than Nathan. So tight, and effortless. His showboating at 3mins is great, and his dance moves 5min45 are wonderful. He steals the show for me.
Clapton at his best
