From U.K. - This is THE amazing live track for me this year - 2011 ! Thank you so much for uploading. I have been playing it over and again. Thank you.
I agree wholeheartedly with longtimegone55's comment. I was sent this song by a friend on Last.FM while I liked the track even better than Hendrix' version, This video is linked onto that page. I watched it and was blown away. The violin is perfect for this song it fits even better than a guitar because the ethereal qualities and the subject matter are both haunting. This vid is by far my favorite version of this song..EVER. I need to explore more but I doubt that I'll find a better version.
Absolutely haunting version, from the lead in melody of They Wore Blue to the long silence as the last notes die away. I love the pared down version of this band, with Chuck Campbell assuming the lead guitar role, balanced by the exquisite violin of Anne Harris. They turn this song, which most of us know from Hendrix' fiery version, into a sublime and deeply felt instrumental exploration & commentary on the original blues text. Superbly shot, great sound; I'll be back to watch this over & over.

Big Hendrix fan. Think He would have been proud to here this version!!!!
tinasdude 6 months ago 2
@tinasdude
Yes he would have. But this is an Otis Taylor original. Hendrix covered it. Hendrix just put a heavier groove to it.
atsstockburn 3 months ago
@atsstockburn Hendrix covered it, but so is Otis Taylor doing here. He didn't write the song, no one knows who did.

@simihm Billy Roberts wrote it in the early 60's.
