lol "eesum", of course, the young kid didn't know the I is a J in Latin ... but the most important thing is, that this child became baptised and was thus made a child of God and that it is properly raised as a good Catholic, for her own salvation and the greater glory of God.
It's not that I is J, rather that there was no J in latin, it needed none because the sound of the J was pronounced Y (said as in 'Yea verily'!). So Jesu is spelt Iesu and pronounced 'ee-ay -zoo' and said fast you get 'yayzu' as the latin based languages still say it. I love Latin with it's simple and consistent vowels, you always know what it should sound like, except for all the regional variation. My experience is from 13 years singing sacred early latin polyphony.
@FComme -the pronunciation is still terrible? I'd like to see how many non-Latins could pronounce Latin so that it sounds decent, let alone adults without even considering this is a very gifted child!
Can He join Us in the Church Choir to Sing Salve Regina..??? ha ha ha ha.. Dont work hard reading about it Young Brother.. Pope Venedict XVI will lose His Job for YOu.. ha ha ha ha.. joke only!!!! God Bless...
YOUR KID'S AMAZING. say hello to him for me! (and most probably for the rest of the people who have commented here!):D
question: does anyone know the correct pronunciation for this song? my school choir from singapore is going to italy to compete, and we're singing this song. if you can help, do message me(:
Thanks for the compliment. Find "bebahsilang" here on youtube and you'll find a gentleman with great wonderful voice singing this prayer. Or search 'salve regina solo" and the you'll find the video clip. Good luck! By the way, where abouts in Singapore are you? my first cousin & her family live there and we communicate all the time. Singapore is a beautiful country!
Pray for protection for this child.
