  • Actually, the Midway base wasn't "Shattered." The Japanese had done damage, but nowhere near enough to guarantee a successful invasion. In fact, it is doubtful if the Japanese could have successfully taken Midway even if they had won the battle as they weren't well trained or prepared for amphibious assaults.

  • so what's with the bad english used for the narration by the 'japanese' guy? what the fuck? what a shit documentary, designed to appeal to children and idiots with attention deficit disorder who refuse to watch anything unless something happens on the screen every second and they don't have to use their brains at all.

  • Only 6 of the 26 US fighters were Wildcats. The rest were Brewster Buffalos, far inferior to the Wildcat. Properly handled, a Wildcat could defeat a Zero while a Buffalo could not. Of course, the US planes were badly outnumbered as well.

  • Dear Santa, The briefcase...

  • All these are immaterials. Even if all American ships were wipeout. They would produce much much more shortly. While the gaps couldn't.

  • the imperial japanese navy should have never underestimated the american navy especially when the americans are a bit emotionally fixed on kicking their ass and get some payback

  • The Lesson: "The element of luck is so crucial in achieving success in all human affairs."

  • This battle may have turned out differently if Raymond Spruance wasn't in command. Bull Halsey would have been in command during this battle, but he was stricken with psoriasis and thus sidelined. When Nimitz asked Halsey about who should take his place for the battle, he said Spruance, without hesitation.

  • pure luck or something

  • Americans had an egde over the japs, it was the longer range microwave radar, they could see the japs long before they could see them

  • Americans had an egde over the japs, it was the longer range microwave radar, they could see the japs long before they could see them.

  • Japanese people all have small penis, that's why the Jap-Devils lost the war

  • @SachaVassilevsky You should join the UN.

  • @parabat7 . Maybe I should, too bad UN is so bullshit : ) & besides, I f&*king hate George C Marshall

  • What is the name of the music at 3:58?

  • The story thats not being told is how reluctant US Command was to reveal to the enemy the fact that they had broken the code by obviously anticipating the surprise.

  • Ensign George Gay was the sole survivor of his squardron, torpedo squadron 8, USS Hornett, at Midway. Every attack american planes made on the Japanese carriers was beaten off. but they kept coming and finnally delivered the knockout blow. In the end, 4 japanese carriers sunk to the loss of the USS Yorktown.

  • @haynes1776 Bert Earnest was the survivor of the torpedo attack from midway in the new TBF Avenger torpedo bomber.

  • i love this clip. i must have watched it over 50 times now. 5/6 is good now but i like the drama that builds up during 4/6. "...so...in one of the greatest naval gambles in history...Spruance ordered all his aircraft in one massed attack..."

  • thekrazeone radar cost the ijn navy as did fate .yamato told his people not to be overcofident and what a gamble

  • no... your an idiot.... the p-51 mustang was only operating in the pacafic since the second semester of 1944 ... tghats how much you dumb ass know

  • u idiots p-51 mustangs can beat the zeros

  • one braked code decided war

  • japan has on of the best navy's in the world now

  • I'm not sure I agree with you there.

Although before I start to say why, I'd like to ask: why do you say that Japan has the best navy in the world as of today?

  • @executer40 japan is unreal

  • ??????wtf??????? US and UK have best navy's in world consisting of manpower, number of ships and superior technololgy.

  • @ UIIM4C5

I'm sorry, I can no longer take you seriously.

And by the way, Japan doesn't have gundamus, as of yet.

  • Good Video, but the Comments are an Epic Fail.

  • If iwo jima had air support the american would have never captured the island.

  • fat chance against the 40 cv's of the usn

  • By 44 the War had been decided Allied superiority was by far, Of course Japan still had a chance but it was highly unlikely as they were much stronger in 41 and hadnt succeeded then.

  • What?! The marianas had plenty of air support not only from the islands but also from carriers. The Americans still slaughtered them. Ever hear of the Great Mariannas Turkey Shoot?

Even if Iwo Jima did had air sopport they would have been no mach for the U.S by that time in the war. Seriously what were you smoking when you came up with that comment?

  • you fail to mention is that the pilots flying these craft were inexperienced compared to american pilots. In '44-'45 the average jap pilot had 40 hrs flight experience before being sent into battle (their planes winched onto carriers because the pilots were deemed not skilled enough to land them themselves).

your jap pilots flying air cover would have been ass raped.

also japans officers viewed fighters more useful attacking carriers..again, there was no chance of air support to begin with.

  • uhh...get your facts 100% correct before presenting them, or you'll get torn to pieces on here. not critizing, just lookin out for ya.

  • haha....do you want me to cite it? for fuck sake its just youtube.

I took that from the book retribution by max hasting.

    excellent read

  • well max hasting is a FUCKING IDIOT and that book needs to b burned ya stupid shit.

  • u do know it took like 5 billets to shoot down most japanese planes rite?

  • well yes but u knw at that time it took ages to shot down a plane without machine which can lock down like gundams do it? plus it took men to aim at the plane

  • yeah, but jap planes had for the most part no protection for the pilot. ask any us naval aviator from ww2, they will all tell ya that a short burst took down a jap plane in pieces.

  • @ShortCardinalsFan262 and did you know that Zero was the best air based plane in until 1943?

  • after the war, they were criminals, but during the war, their skills cant go unnoticed

  • Yeah let us confuse some aviation pilots in the Japanese navy for generals in the Japanese army.

  • We should know miserable the warfare is, but it would be biggest and most ferocious warfare in the history. It's sad, how my country lose in the battle and war. But, there is still hope by learning how the country lose.

  • You must know how cruel Japanese are in nature. Get ready to eat more atomic bombs if you dare to take another advance. Get ready and learn from the ignorance of your ancestors; the world has changed.

  • haha stfu, your all talk, look at north korea i dont see americans doing shit, so go stuff ur mouth with a load of shit and stop acting like america would dare to use A-bombs again

  • Shut up otterboxiphone. You don't know shit. I've lived with the Japanese for years, and they're some of the nicest people I've had the pleasure of staying with. Go fuck a razor with your wrist and do the world a favor.

  • FireCaptain, your ignorance about WW2 and foul language say a lot about how well you're educated. Can the horrible Japanese War Crimes be forgotten just because the Japanese people you lived with were nice? They were even more brutal and humane than the German SS. Whenever enemy field hospitals were found, they never hesitated to beyonet the wounded and the nurses. When a multitude of Japanese died in an earthquake, they blamed on foreigners and slaughtered 6000koreans and others.. Want more?

  • I'm saying they aren't those people anymore. That was a generation raised on chauvinism and right-wing ultra-nationalism.

Also, it's spelled "bayonet". I suppose that says a lot on how well you're educated.

  • You are just stupid and still do not realize their politeness is faked. They are well known to hide their emotions. Even if they are displeased, they will not tell you, wake up, kid!

  • Anyone can hide their emotions. It's not exclusive to the Japanese, and it's not a hallmark of the Japanese people. Go be racist somewhere else.

  • Who cares about your blind faith and bs? Learn to grow up!

  • I'm sure many people care about others not being racist, as I'm sure many people care about being racist, judgmental, and ignorant.

  • You may sound very pessimistic, but I agree the Japanese has an exceptionally cruel history.

  • And the French surrendered...not even a part of the battle but just in case

  • 3:00 the best shot. the wildcat vs the zero

  • Sailing forde04 i was not serious about the bag thing but still it is a cool bag

  • I always thought that the fighters that the US sent up from Midway weren't necessarily all Wildcats, but rather Brewster Buffalos. While the Zero was a better airplane than the Wildcat, the Wildcat was able to hold its own while the Buffalo was a horrible fighter.

  • Affirmative, I thought i had read the same thing.

  • The F2 Buffalo did see action at Midway. The P40 as well. Some 40 fighters stationed at Midway Isle were sent to intercept the attack. They were sucessful in downing 6 D3s and B5s. The unfortunate part was all but 3 of these fighters survived. In all, some 110 USN fighters were shot down that day to only 26 IJN fighters and bombers lost. Unfortunately for Kido Butai, it ended up losing 160 aircraft and alot of pilots due to no carriers in which to land.

  • I agree. According to all accounts I've read of the battle, only five or six of Midway's fighters under Major Parks' command were Grumman F4F Wildcats. The rest were outdated F2As, and the Buffalo was a flying deathtrap in combat against A6M Zeros.

  • @Will87 You are right. The Marine Unit on Midway- VMF-221- sent up 20 Buffaloes and six Wildcats. 14 Buffaloes and two Wildcats were lost and they downed at least 5 Japanese planes in return. One witness who watched the battle said that the Buffaloes looked as if they were 'tied to pieces of string' compared to the Zeros. However one of the Buffalo pilots- Marion Carl- downed a Zero and survived and later that year on Guadalcanal became the Marine Air Corps first Ace.

  • Kewlios
