well, the game does not look bad, i just miss the long hair on tyris and to play as the other two... come on, is that hard to make more playable characters?, if i remember right any char could do anything on that game :p

But i think than first game was better. i don't know ,the color ,the graphics with this new tecnology i think had to have been much better than old games,but don't.

The only real complaint I had with this game,is that there is a certain weapon later on that takes an obscene amount of tribute points to unlock. I won't spoil it, but it should be obvious.

@ 7:10 if you continue straight there is a beast tele that gives you an abrax. you can use it to bust those chests w/o hurting your lynth :)

This is a very underrated, over criticized game. The combat is a lot of fun once you get the hang of dodging and parrying. I only wish the two moves were interchangeable instead of enemy attack specific. Once you get on a good killing spree, though, the combat feels great.

I think that the simple outfit of the 3 characters seen in the original arcade game was so much better than what they've "created" in this one. Tyris simply looks like a disco babe :-p not like a real amazon. and she moves around with that huge blade as if it were a toothpick.... No realism of physics in this game...

Golden axe: Beast rider was poorly recieved by most reviewers, but Beast Rider looks nothing like the first Golden Axe from many years ago.

personally, i like the gameplay of Beast Rider.

it plays like an old arcade game you'd play in an Arcade Hall down the street.

the checkpoints in the game at various points and such, it's what I've missed these last couple of years

Back in the day, Golden Axe wasn't about the beasts; it was about fighting alongside your friends and family to see who could kick the most ass and steal the most magic potions from the elves.

This game is so "improved" from the previous ones that it loses that nostalgic feeling. Why only one character to choose from instead of 3 (or more)? Why use beasts as a GIMMICK? Who's that woman supposed to be? I don't recognize her.

If they removed "Golden Axe" from the title, would it even matter?

I think in trying to modernize Tyris, the game developers lost most or all of that nostalgic feeling.

Actually, you do have a point there. I have the original copy, and tyris is supposed to have long red hair, with a colorful bikini and red boots. But to be honest, I like her new look. She looks meaner. And the gameplay isn't that bad either.

I'm a huge fan of GA, can't count how many quarters I wasted on it. And still play the sh-t out of the modern arcade ports to console systems. This is one of the games, like Conan and Castlevania Order of Eccelsia that make me tempted to buy a new game system. I'll probably just wait till 'bargain' time and pick it up for 2 years from now and I pick up a 360 and Wii for cheap at a pawn shop while people trample each other for whatever the corps sh-t out next...
