@Nickthemonkey08 without a doubt. 4th and 9 was the play that everyone knew after that usc would win. im a ND fan, after that play, it was inevitable.
this was the game that bought charlie 4 more years of mediocrity. when your greatest achievement as a coach is having played a team close and almost beat them on your home field, you know that 'other' team must be pretty damn revered. i don't know if you can say that about any other team in CFB. what coach as leveraged a 'close loss' into a huge 5 year contract at a school as prestigious at notre dame? i don't see anybody handing out bonuses for beating texas, bama, florida, auburn, etc.
@12345678midgetman lololol i guess 5-3 is a bad record for a team in transition...USC has a new coach, current NCAA sanctions, and lost to a great Stanford team by only 2 points. Notre Dame on the other hand is located in a declining rust belt town and just lost to Tulsa....please make me laugh a little harder.
@tomlambsays I just watched the irish take care of usc , Even with the ref's doing there best to fuck us out of every call. It looks like the University of Sucking Cock
trHOjans aint shit ! Brian Kelly will own Lane Kiffin's ass for the rest of his two year career.
I went over to my friends house to watch this end of the Michigan game -_-. This was the greatest Saturday in the history of college football. Sooo many unbelievable finishes.
This game is now vacated after the NCAA proved USC cheated with "pro" players in this game. ND now has won this game. Congrats Charlie. And thanks for running a clean program.
Im ready to hear all the SC fans cry about this one. :P Its all good, SC have fun crying for two years and losing scholarships for a few more years :P
@mrjackcoffee I don't like SC . . . but that is pretty chicken-shit to try and claim a victory in this situation, W's are earned on the field, not in a board meeting 5 years after the fact. It is a good illustration of how desperate ND fans have become though.
Didn't USC play this game with a bunch of payed players? I still can't believe they didn't have to forfeit any of their games. Is, Bush still in court or did they settle?
I cried more when vince converted the 4th and 5 running to his right. he always runs to his right and yet usc never figured it out. horrible. the defense lost it for us that year. notre dame scoring 31 points in this game. almost two loses. horrible.
a couple of "what-if's" in that NC game. at the beginning of the game when Bush had a big run and for some reason decided to try to lateral to another USC player and turned the ball over...he NEVER did anything like that the whole season! that was the first WTF moment.
the teams seemed pretty even throughout the game. it was as if the last possession was going to win the game. even though SC lost I enjoyed the back and forth action. You cannot win them all.
yeah it was a pretty damn good game, but I can't but help to think what if White had converted that 4th down play....they surely would have run out the clock, you know? but oh well..it is what it is...
Even after the failure to convert the 4th down, USC still had two chances to win the game. Brandon Ting had a SURE interception and dropped it. And Darnell Bing getting the obvious blatant face mask on 4th down...That was more of a WTF to me than Bush's lateral. I mean had the play been successful he'd a been a "genius." But it was so early in the game it wasn't as much of a factor as the two other WTF moments I just mentioned
I have never had my heart broken like this. Greatest game ever played... maybe... probably... but the Irish gave it away and to this day I cry myself to sleep.
HAHAHAHHA That's so true. It's not really the "history" that the game has, because for a half a century Navy always lost, but the series itself that I love. I would love to see Army play Alabama because it would be a great chance for the troops from the Iron state to see their team. What I loved about the Navy-Notre Dame game was how Irish fans serving in the Navy (and Navy personnel serving overseas) got a chance to be "distracted" from the reality of service.
A typo occurs because of a misspelling. They are not the same thing, dumb ass. You can know how to spell something and still commit a typo. And you used the wrong tense of "too"
Notre Dame overrated? Possibly with football. The University itself? I don't think you are in any position to make that assessment.
The football team AND the University - both overrated. Obviously one of the greatest team + school in history but not anymore by FAR. Way too overrated
it has nothing to do with not knowing how to spell it and everything to do with pressing the wrong key. Honestly, why even comment then, if your a USC fan?
Everyone talks about the "Bush Push" and rightfully so as that was the winning play but dont forget, had D Jarrett not caught that ball at 4th and 9, USC would have lost. USC football is FABULOUS. Beating ND is ALWAYS GREAT!!!
@Deuce2you oh believe me, you won't find many nd fans who don't remember 4th and 9. The bush push was understandable, but 4th and 9 was a damn travesty.
Gators, winners of two out of the last three titles. This year we will make it 3 out of 4!!! USC had their run a little while ago, now it's Gator time!!!
Poundcakebowler ur a total idiot what happened the past 3 years hahahaha notre lame got their shit kicked so stfu USC is stacked with stud players and they did get the #1 qb recruit so I would watch wat you say cuz USC will still win Notre Lame is garbage
They do? USC, LSU, and Florida all have 2 national championships this decade. So.... maybe if one of them wins the 3rd they'll be the team of the decade.
I know that this is a bit revisionist, but why did NFL scouts not notice that Jarrett could not break away from the defender he beat while in a foot race in the open field? Heck, even a safety (who obviously blew the coverage) caught up with him. That is not what any pro team wants in a No.1 receiver; brings a lot of clarity as to why he is struggling so much right now. However, he can turn it around...you can never give up on size in the NFL at that position.

Ohh NO! Sanchez gone to the NFL?!?!?!?! What will USC do? Pay a recruit to come from another school just to win the one game that they cherish most? Get a life. See you in 10 months.
Wow. 3 Years later and you Notre Dame fans still haven't gotten over this. It's also funny how you say SC can't win... but we've been the Pac-10 champs continuously since 2003. O yeah, and who won this year? Last year? The year before then? Or the year before that? O yeah, SC did.
O and please do remind me, whens the last time Notre Dame won a bowl? Was it '94? '96? I know its not recent.
Yeah, usually I would think it was a school night for him, but with it being Saturday night.... now I just think he doesn't know what to say..... agreed.
