  • 1 week - 1 man 15000-30000 $

  • Back in the day all you had to do was show up in Dutch and look for work, seasons were a few months long, plenty of Crab, lots of Boats to choose from, Ah, the good old days.

  • question. the wheel that pulls tho pots up... does it pinch on the rope to get its grip?

  • @snowbiker111 yup, two sheaves opposite each other with a finger to pull the line out as it comes in!

  • Maybe after another year of sockeye, spot prawns, and herring ill give take a crack at this.

  • how do u get involved in working on a fishing boat

  • 2:54

That King Crab is hiding for dear life. :|

  • you have to know what you are doing...or you could lose a hand...

  • Check out us english Supercrabbers on FUNNY,EXTREME, CRAB FISHING

  • Good camera work, no stupid music. Well done.

  • You freaks, yeah this is the first vid I've seen on the tube that shows the real crabbing. Still you all are a bunch of pussies. I was fishing when you were a stain on the bed sheets. No sort tables, no freakin coilers. Run the line though a nigger head and coil. Sissies

  • Its the F/V North Sea not the Pacific Sun

  • does that shoot that leads into that water go back into the ocean, or a place where they keep the fish?

  • That was definately super Bob in that video

  • Waw that sucked

  • "Look at those snappers!"

  • gostei

  • My favorite part is when the dude put the crab in the boat.

  • I like watching raw footage like this. Show's you what it's really like. No one's even talking. If you keep your eyes on a specific person you just see them seamlessly doing their parts of the job. It all comes together in a really neat streamlined process.

  • ohhh

  • This boat is the Pacific Sun. If you want to go crabbing forget it. You will never get a job. If you fly to dutch, you will end up working in a cannery with a bunch of philipinos and east africans.

  • @limberjim007 racist

  • @AirlinePilotZJ Racist = truth? Idiot, just stfu asshole.

  • Hey Pretty Boy. Its Chad. Post my video response.

  • Mate i wish i was on that boat with you guys,i used to Go crabbing alot, newport oregon,i used to be there all the time on the pier either fishing or crabbing with friends and school mates.

  • I enjoy crabbin'. I'm only 14, so I've never done this kind of crabbin'. However, I usually go crab- lining up at whitby and Staithes, and in about 2 days I once caught a total of around 70 doggers and even a Red, I was told that almost noone had caught a Red before on lines.

  • Nice fishing system

  • The Earth's Hardest Job

  • i just watched a show on tv last night .... They stay out in sea for about 5 days mostly working none stop throwing in up to 100 crab cages, after the five days it a race back to the loading docks before the crabs die off. The Wage/Money is pretty good with each person getting around $16,000 to $20,000 each .... Not bad for 5 days of work.

  • that has to be if not the hardest job not just physically but mentality

  • I've been a crabber for 13+yrs I love this work! These lines are 300ft

I remember when you didn't have to sort, They were mostly large!

  • Why some big crabs and squid were being thrown back to water?

  • ive only seen the show but squid are no good (for this catch) and i think you can only catch males not females

  • Squid would be considered as by-catch and yes you can only fish for male crab.

  • How long are the lines attached to the trap?

  • Probably depends on the depths st the point you're fishing. But it appears to be quite deep here.

  • THAT WAS LATE (BITCH BITCH BITCH)

  • amazing didnt get muc on that pot thoe o well better luck next time :D

  • Respect from Poland. I'm watching on Discovery Channel this job.

    I LOVE THIS GUYS :):):)

  • nice

  • Be careful out there! Haha, Bob looks really happy =). Love you <3!

  • maybe some one here can answer this, why dont they use the round traps, like we do on the east coast? there'y easyer to handle, safer to work with, and can catch just as much crab. on these larger boats, they may even be able to carry more traps. i dont understand why they stick the the square.

  • I assume it has to do with stacking 300 round pots on a boat securely

  • they stack like ice cream cones, and open from the bottem. all ya do is tie them down from the top, and they're solid. i've fit 65 one a 45 footer, the boat looks in the range of 100 feet, pile them 15 high, and thats 20 little piles about six feet high. you could safely pile them at 25 more more traps to save more room. not trying to be rude, just never understood this.

  • they weigh 700 pounds empty my friend. :) square they are too..

  • mmm craab

  • Do captains earn a lot of money in the crab business?

  • I dont know abot the Captains but deckhands earna round 30 thousand in a good season!

  • Makes me wanna just grab a couple of those and cook them. UMMMM they look good!!!

  • YUMMY!!! Thanks for all the hard work guys!

  • I could do this if I was blind and missing both limbs..seriously..Nice work Damien.

  • No, REALLY you couldnt.

  • i don't no can say this is the boat american star well his burning in the sea and going under :(

  • nice footage, who was on the hook, jim or damian? its good to see bob running over to cut bait after he tied up the bags. hope you guys still have my custom hook JB and i made. who took the video?

  • Good vid. We fish for tuna, purse seine. What happens if you miss the floats with the grapple?

  • If somebody misses with the grapple, it's called "The circle of shame" because the captain has to circle back for another pass. In rough seas, the maneuver can take 20 minutes, which wastes time, and wasting time on a crab boat costs everybody money.

  • We have a similar thing on our trawlers. Another story. Looks like good fishing, not much bycatch.
