Its never hard to know those whose hearts a re filled with fear... deep within your heart, you know there is God and Heaven but you are too scared to face the truth so you'd rather be in denail and if possible, like you are doing now, try to convince people that God does not exist. @weasalw No, I didnt know that, God bless him for that! Ya know, Carman always gave free concerts until his ministry started to have some real financila problems. Ughhh, I remember I saw Carman in Baltimore in 1996 and, you could tell he was just,....spent!! He said people wpuld rather spend money on drinks and snacks at his concerts then to put money in the "offering." SO VERY TRUE!!! Nowadays, Christian concerts just feel like mere,.....entertainment! There is just no Jesus present!!

I posted a reply to a different post but my reply seems to fit here better. My memory of something I read 20 years ago says Keith would counsel against that idea. He refused to listen to any "current" music, Christian or secular, because he didn't want any of that to influence his music. He only wanted God to influence his music. But I definitely understand and agree with the sentiment behind your post.

Once upon a time our church leaders were harping on money to the point that it was disgusting. Our choir leader picked a song by Keith Green called "I don't want your money, I want your heart." We sang it that Sunday morning and the next day she was fired from being choir directer. She was being led by the Spirit and the church board of directers fired her. I have loved his music ever since because I know he writes from the Spirit of the Lord, He is one of the cloud of witnesses now.

From what I read and heard, Keith Green got very "God OCD". That is definitely not a bad thing. While he was a new Christian, his fire for God was huge. And he could not understand why older, more experienced Christians were were just embers. I am a Christian but I am merely one of those embers. O, to be like Keith... ...and Melody, what a soulmate for him, even after his early departure.

I cried the other day because God took him so early, but I listen to his music all the time and it inspires me to love God with my whole heart and soul. I am far beneath Keith but we are all growing in the knowledge and grace of the Lord Jesus and in the day that we are living in He is hasting his work in us to perfect us. Not that this ties in to what you said but I thought I'd give a bit of trivia. Keith's music doesn't fit "time-period" classifications well because he refused to listen to other music of his day. Not Christian or secular. He didn't want them influencing his music. He only wanted God influencing his music. This is what I read once, a long time ago. I believe Melody said it in an interview or something of the sort.
