@naggedd Adjust the dpi settings/sensitivity. For every inch i move the mouse i spin around twice, and thats only medium sensitivity. It also helps to have a foot wide mouse pad such as a steelseries qck+

Since I've had consoles with controllers most of my life I'm accustomed to them I still play on the PC with a game pad. Controller is way better than Mouse/Keyboard. You can't sit back and relax on your couch with a keyboard and a mouse. The WDAS for movement is arkward and give you only 2 choice of movement Run/Walk. The joystick is better and you can actually manage your character speed. Controller vibrate which i prefer when playing fps game. That why i rather just buy console version of most game even if the graphic is a little bit worse. I only bother buying big game like the total war series for the pc.
@Longmachao all you mentioned are preferences and nothing technical about certain games. In an FPS, the mouse has higher range of motion, meaning I can easily stop to a dime to lock in for shots with absolutely no effort while console players have to twiddle their thumbs to get to a specific point. Also non console port PC FPS games won't have a form of aim assist or sticky aim to handicap a mouse. Console FPS games DO, especially in multiplayer.
@newagepun Yea, that what most people usually tell me. I totally agree mouse gave you pin point accuracy when it come to FPS. I wouldn't recommend using a controller to play a fps on the pc competitively . But if you're playing on a console your just playing against other console player with the same advantages/disadvantages. @Innovaytor it gives you the option to disable it, but disabling it only lessens its effectiveness. your cross-hairs will still slow down or "stick" to enemies when you pass your cross-hairs over them.

@Ionic0 it just takes time to get used to. someone could pick up a controller right away and start playing without difficulty (granted they'll probably still suck, but at least be able to move and shoot). giving someone a mouse and keyboard, they'll take a long time to even get decent at it. even longer to get good. but even a decent mouse and keyboard user will always have faster and more precise aim than a good controller player.
@Ionic0 oh, try playing quake live for a couple of months. keyboard movement on that game is insane. then when you switch to other games like CS or Call of duty, it'll feel much easier and natural.

@crazychainsaw007 Aim assist in multiplayer cannot be turrned off.Aim assist is a server side function.When you play single player, the server is on your computer and you can turn it off, on an official server it stays on and you can test that.I play games that are ported from console and have aim assist, its extremly easy to hit, especially when you move, where you would have no chance with a controller against a mouse.

@crazychainsaw007 the button pressing reaction isn't much compared to the precision the mouse offers with its larger range of motion. I have a finger on the crouch and stand buttons too. The difference is while you are fooling around with your small sticks where to exactly aim, I already had to move my hand on my mouse a few millimeters to get a bead on a head shot and I just click. Even more so if the game had no form of sticky aim for online multiplayer.

No, for simple reason. Auto-aim. Every console FPS has it enabled because quite frankly a console controller is broken without it. There is no auto aim with K&M. It is pure skill playing a FPS on PC. Go play a PC game with a controller, go into the menu and disable auto aim. See how broken and awful it is for yourself.

While on PC's they have to manage many things, like different services, Windows 7 hogs up a total of 800 FREAKING RAM , The Xbox 360 itself only has 512 mb of ram, the PC also has to manage more than 100 different fonts and if you're a big user who runs many things at once like BitTorrent, Avast antivirus, Skype, and tons of others I can't really say right now will be running at the same time with your "game"

I admit PC gaming is superior, I've only just got into it and the graphics on Crysis 2 running on my m15x is fucking amazing compared to Xbox but I just have to use a controller, it's what I've grown up with.
The only thing I don't agree with is people saying PC gaming is a lot harder, my ratio on COD4 on Xbox is 1.54 and on PC it's 1.50 but taking into account a lot of my deaths are from going into some shitty glitched/hacked lobby (which is another problem with PC gaming).
PC is better, but is way more expensive. You can stick to a console for years.
Your PC will only last as good for a few months. Your XBOX that you bought for 699 1 year later its for 500. Your PC you bought for 3000 1 year later is worth 1000. So yeah, if you can handle upgrading your PC every year at a high cost, PC is better. If you dont want to waste money and play games, grab a console and you can stick to it for 2-5 years without any kind of upgrade being necessary.
@OMGFishoo You do not need to upgrade your PC every year. I have an $800 gaming PC that I have played on for six years. Never had to upgrade once. And unlike the Xbox 360, my PC has never failed me.

@Mahaney82 Play lots and lots and lots of PC. I used to suck at counter strike source back when i first played it in December 2006, but 4 years later I'm a whole lot better on pc, on half life, team fortress, call of duty, counter strike.

@Ionic0 it just takes time to get used to. someone could pick up a controller right away and start playing without difficulty (granted they'll probably still suck, but at least be able to move and shoot). giving someone a mouse and keyboard, they'll take a long time to even get decent at it. even longer to get good. but even a decent mouse and keyboard user will always have faster and more precise aim than a good controller player.

@Ionic0 oh, try playing quake live for a couple of months. keyboard movement on that game is insane. then when you switch to other games like CS or Call of duty, it'll feel much easier and natural.

@crazychainsaw007 Aim assist in multiplayer cannot be turrned off.Aim assist is a server side function.When you play single player, the server is on your computer and you can turn it off, on an official server it stays on and you can test that.I play games that are ported from console and have aim assist, its extremly easy to hit, especially when you move, where you would have no chance with a controller against a mouse.

@crazychainsaw007 did you undestand what i said.I dont speak good english but im tryn to be as clear as possible.In COD5, you cannot disable aim assist, its a server side function, i suppose it was the same in CoD4.When you turn of aim assist it turns off only in single player, dont matter if you think you turn it off.So do a test, put a friend to stand in front of you and spin and youll notice spin speed slows down as your targets passes him.Cos you got aim.

@Olengher yes, it has, i found out.You are a console player, this is tehnical shit that you wont comprehed unless you are familiar with server configs and cvars but CoD has aim assist on console, nothin is enabled or disabled, it is a mild aim assist same for everybody, controlled by cvars from server side, not on client side.Like aim_autoaim_region_height, aim_slowdown_enabled, aim_slowdown_pitch_scale, etc

@nghiahuunguyen i love how i can do all that stuff at the same time and in most games u cannot run and aim i also love how can walk at a certain speed (on pc its just a button) with us u can adjust and i can react on a time on pc theres a whole keyboard with other keys also in the way on console u can have prone or crouch under ur thumb already = super fast reaction and for console i can start up my ps3 when im outside coming home from school pull out my controller ready when i walk in the door.

@crazychainsaw007 the button pressing reaction isn't much compared to the precision the mouse offers with its larger range of motion. I have a finger on the crouch and stand buttons too. The difference is while you are fooling around with your small sticks where to exactly aim, I already had to move my hand on my mouse a few millimeters to get a bead on a head shot and I just click. Even more so if the game had no form of sticky aim for online multiplayer.

lol this is sad. Some random tournament no one's ever even heard of. The scrubs using controllers on a PC game doesn't make controller better than mouse and keyboard, it makes the scrubs using mouse and keyboard terrible players. With two players of equal skill, one using a mouse and keyboard and the other using a controller, the mouse and keyboard user will always win in every game. There is no game or genre where controller is better than mouse and keyboard. Sigh.

No, for simple reason. Auto-aim. Every console FPS has it enabled because quite frankly a console controller is broken without it. There is no auto aim with K&M. It is pure skill playing a FPS on PC. Go play a PC game with a controller, go into the menu and disable auto aim. See how broken and awful it is for yourself.

@naruto52222222222222 You should be able to play almost any game except for really hight ones.... well... maybe on lower settings. i dont really know the crd much right now, but the first thing you want to turn off or really low is:
-shadows
-reflection
-& blur
its the less usfull things, but first you should try demos of the games you actually want to play, to actually test if it works like you want, but im sure 100% you wont be playing crysis2 on hight... or BF3 on extrem(wich is not out)

for FPS games the mouse and keyboard are much better ,faster to aim and moves are smoother.Game pads are nice to play RPGs or simulators.Wich is better for gaming between pc and consoles ,oc it is the PC ,consoles have a lot of ram but graffics arent so good as on the PC .XBOX n PS3 video cards have something like 256mb,well on PC its possible to have cards with more then 1Gb or even 2 of them together.

pc's are unreliable expensive and not very portable. consoles are not exactly cheap tbh but beta than a pc, plus they wont get outdated. when it comes to controller vs knm gaming it probably mostly matters on skil of gamers i rekon. i much prefer the controller though cos it feels like im having fun and playing a game rather than feelin like im writin a spreadsheet at work or some shit on the pc, not to mention the desk n all the crap tht goes with pc's, infact ive convinced myself pc's are shit

While on PC's they have to manage many things, like different services, Windows 7 hogs up a total of 800 FREAKING RAM , The Xbox 360 itself only has 512 mb of ram, the PC also has to manage more than 100 different fonts and if you're a big user who runs many things at once like BitTorrent, Avast antivirus, Skype, and tons of others I can't really say right now will be running at the same time with your "game"

I admit PC gaming is superior, I've only just got into it and the graphics on Crysis 2 running on my m15x is fucking amazing compared to Xbox but I just have to use a controller, it's what I've grown up with.
The only thing I don't agree with is people saying PC gaming is a lot harder, my ratio on COD4 on Xbox is 1.54 and on PC it's 1.50 but taking into account a lot of my deaths are from going into some shitty glitched/hacked lobby (which is another problem with PC gaming).

PC is better, but is way more expensive. You can stick to a console for years.
Your PC will only last as good for a few months. Your XBOX that you bought for 699 1 year later its for 500. Your PC you bought for 3000 1 year later is worth 1000. So yeah, if you can handle upgrading your PC every year at a high cost, PC is better. If you dont want to waste money and play games, grab a console and you can stick to it for 2-5 years without any kind of upgrade being necessary.

@Dimitri0809 Umm, I bought a gamepad and it does have an X and Y axis, but it only detects WHERE the analog stick is going, such as x.1 and y.1 would mean Northeast and x.1 and y.-1 would mean Northwest, in games that would mean if you held x.1, y.1 for 5 seconds at the acceleration of +5 pixels per second every 1500 ms with 20 pixels per sec as the base speed, then it would get 35 pixels per second at best. With mouse the speed is not fixed, it will adjust to the speed of your mouse instantly.

I'm pretty new to PC..... I was born with an Atari stick in my hand and graduated to an Xbox 360 and PS3. So I'm mainly a console gamer and have been all my life. I still recall light PC gaming as a youth, but nothing major like today's gaming standards. I'm 28 now and am trying PC for gaming. I bought The Orange Box as it might be a simple start and am finding out I suck @ WASD and mouse. I'm good with a controller on a console but I know if I use one, "I'm doing it wrong." Any tips?

@Mahaney82 Play lots and lots and lots of PC. I used to suck at counter strike source back when i first played it in December 2006, but 4 years later I'm a whole lot better on pc, on half life, team fortress, call of duty, counter strike.
but yeah, when you first start playing pc it takes awhile to get used to it. oh and use a wired gaming mouse, they're way better than a standard wireless mouse for example.
