personly I think Demon's Souls seems better than Dark souls gameplay wise, here the friendly NPC's actually move and attack enemies and your character makes more movements in execution moves and strikes

Brotip: If you're new to the game and kind of afraid of dying at 3:10, you can just sneak attack his back and he will fall into the middle of all of them.
He will kill every one of them, and you will get the points.
You can troll these guys by standing just around one of the corners and letting them failjump at you. If you're high enough up, they'll even die in the process.
There are hundreds of zombies all around. He doesn't seem scared, but seeing you, possibly the only human he's seen in ages, he doesn't seem relieved.
What the fuck man?! C'mon Japan! I see this crap in western RPGs, but I expect more out of a Japanese RPG. JRPGs are very story oriented and character driven, while western ones are all about choices with characters being almost unimportant. I actually like JRPGs for that reason. Why fix what ain't broken?

This games focus is (like you said) choices, choices in which all have a different effect and are all a challenge to the player. They tried to create something where the player would have to sit down for a long time and play out every scenario, which all in all is exactly how Kings Field was.

I love this game to be honest. Hell yeah I'm dying but after some time shit goes down fast because you already know enemies move patterns. The only thing I'm trying in 1-1 now is the dude with the lance(knight) on the wall, hell hes hard.

@MeRenegade I chose the magician D: pretty good magic attack that cleans off those blue guys with 2 hits all other weaker ones with 1 hit. Other then that it's pretty weak on the HP side, D: 4-5 hits will kill you,
@MeRenegade After playing with different classes, I would say mage or Royal is best way to go for beginners (also always choose male and not female as lot of "Good" gear is male only). the reason for choosing mage or Royal is for having spell casts and that makes a lot of fights super easy as you can cast from distance for example against blue or red eyed knights. Melee classes for new players are imo very hard.
@thematthewmccloud if you are playing as a fresh player, use a mage, it will make your life super easy. Also always make sure your carry burden is 50% of what you can total carry for max dodge speed. Royal is also good choice.
Very challenging. It does take a few (ha ha) attempts to learn when to rush in and when to hang back to make enemies come single-file, when to slash and when to thrust,. Save those firebombs for the big bug after the first save. I can't wait to buy a bow. Eesh. DEFINITELY jump down as shown and help the knight in gold with the Drelings. He's a good temporary ally and knows a safe way to the top of the castle wall AND FIRST SAVE.

@cabielol if you have the cling ring ( found in 1-1 ) you have more HP when in soul form so your health isnt halved. you just have 3/4 of your health back, as in without the ring you only have half health
Demon's Soul really isn't touch for people who played the older action RPG games. Ninja Gaiden for xbox on hardest difficulty is much more difficult than this game, along with Enclave.
This game was incredible hard but I have to admit it- I farmed a lot and mosty used magic and arrows on bosses. If I had no magic or arrows, and I couldn't farm, I doubt I could ever beat the game.
@HardcoreBriggs there isn't a "hardest" class to play as. your ether good at one class or another. each class is so different, plus you can shape your char. into any class by the fifth time playing through.
lol, Demon's Souls will kick you straight in the nuts and laugh at you. I swear, the first time I played this, I was just cursing at the T.V. because it was so annoying. But, over time, you WILL adapt to the game and learn the weak points and such of each World. Eventually, you'll feel proud after you've beaten the game. I just beat the game once, lol.
Try GOW or Dante's Inferno on hard. Those games are stupid difficult if you want them to be. Difference is that in those games deaths can feel cheap, in Demon Souls it seems like I should just be more careful when I die.
@jstagn well that and the game gets .2% harder each time you die, like more enemy stats inc, damage done to you inc, how you die (whether it be by enemy or by killing your self) you'll get different item drops. dude damn list goes on.

Yeeeeah you don't want to attack a red knight this early. They're pretty much meant for like 30 and higher. But... If you're crafty you can do it... just not with a weapon. More like... a cliff? Hehehe.

@ibarewitness786 he helps you fight some bad guys later on but he's not too helpful, if u save him through the game he gives you a pure stone (forget which kind) but those are extremely rare

When you first start out I would have avoided killing him because he's an excellent distraction and ally if you wish to farm the map for soul. Before I kill the Blob Demon i usually clear the level a few times to prepare myself for whats ahead. Anywho, if you kill him he should drop a key which is used later in the game. but like i said... if you want to farm for soul, keep him alive as he's a good distraction ^_^
a while ago a game was released called mdk 2 on an old system. looking at demons souls it reminded me off mdk 2 in the premise that if you died it wasnt the games fault, it just meant you were not good enough. it may be harder than a coffin nail soaked in creosote, but what a game.
Thinkning that Ostrava was an enemy I accidentally backstabed him...Laughed for like 2 mins. Saw that he cleared the floor, talked to him and he still gave me an item. Pure wtf moment. He dissapeared shortly after..Phantoms I guess.

well first off... make sure ur playin as a temple night ... seccond ... there are sort of check points... as u progress through the map u open the gate and later u can walk through there instead of going through the whole map again!

you dont go back to level one, you just lose all your souls, (which act as currency and can also be spent on xp.) But if you get back to the spot where you died, without dying again, you can get it all back.
oh. you just lose all money. thats not so bad. the way i heard it explained was you just lost everything and like money weapons levels. if that was the case i wouldnt have bought the game. losing only money thats cool.

That's so true, and I'm not even being biased. A study on Metacritic (I think) showed that while the 360 had more exclusives, PS3 had more highly rated exclusives (75% or higher). I'm not even talking about ratios here! The PS3 literally has more awesome exclusives, which means that most of the 360 exclusives are crap to mediocre, while most PS3 exclusives are great to kick-ass! While you may not have as much variety, you know you can't go wrong with PS3!
for corpse. if u look from bottom, you'll see dead corpse hanged to the chain. u will get hair comb , and old raggy clothing. trade hair comb to vault guy in the nexus. he'll give u something in return.
Finally, a game that brings back the meaning of "hard". Let's face it, American games are too easy, even on the hardest difficulty... Japanese games have always had some good degree of difficulty in them

@jstagn well that and the game gets .2% harder each time you die, like more enemy stats inc, damage done to you inc, how you die (whether it be by enemy or by killing your self) you'll get different item drops. dude damn list goes on.

Yeeeeah you don't want to attack a red knight this early. They're pretty much meant for like 30 and higher. But... If you're crafty you can do it... just not with a weapon. More like... a cliff? Hehehe.

kids are complain about the dificulty of this game, but for old school gamers like me, it´s just another chalange. The dificulty of this game is nothing if you compare to ninja gaiden from NES

@ibarewitness786 he helps you fight some bad guys later on but he's not too helpful, if u save him through the game he gives you a pure stone (forget which kind) but those are extremely rare

@ibarewitness786 The game doesn't really change all that much... When you first start out I would have avoided killing him because he's an excellent distraction and ally if you wish to farm the map for soul. Before I kill the Blob Demon i usually clear the level a few times to prepare myself for whats ahead. Anywho, if you kill him he should drop a key which is used later in the game. but like i said... if you want to farm for soul, keep him alive as he's a good distraction ^_^

a while ago a game was released called mdk 2 on an old system. looking at demons souls it reminded me off mdk 2 in the premise that if you died it wasnt the games fault, it just meant you were not good enough. it may be harder than a coffin nail soaked in creosote, but what a game.

Thinkning that Ostrava was an enemy I accidentally backstabed him...Laughed for like 2 mins. Saw that he cleared the floor, talked to him and he still gave me an item. Pure wtf moment. He dissapeared shortly after..Phantoms I guess.

hey im from germany, could somebody told me if the german version's degree of difficulty is set on a lower level? well everybody said that the game is so hard but i finished the 1.1 at first time with 0 deaths...and thougt that it is easier than all the game magazines had said bevore...

Yeah this game is so hard, yet it's so fun and enjoyable. I like games like this, where it has great challenge yet no matter how many times you die you just want to try again and attempt to rape again

The only thing the ps3 is missing is party chat and a better invite system which is the only reason i play my 360 anymore :P cant wait to get this game hopefully gamefly will pull through and actually send me it >:|

like me! i failed sooo many times on the first level! ... but i was playing as the barbarrian that was my first mistake... seccond i wasnt using the lock on button as much as i needed to and third ... im not used to the control scheme ... i just finnished playing assassins creed two and i was pressing square a lot and that got me killed so manny times

well first off... make sure ur playin as a temple night ... seccond ... there are sort of check points... as u progress through the map u open the gate and later u can walk through there instead of going through the whole map again!

you dont go back to level one, you just lose all your souls, (which act as currency and can also be spent on xp.) But if you get back to the spot where you died, without dying again, you can get it all back.

That's so true, and I'm not even being biased. A study on Metacritic (I think) showed that while the 360 had more exclusives, PS3 had more highly rated exclusives (75% or higher). I'm not even talking about ratios here! The PS3 literally has more awesome exclusives, which means that most of the 360 exclusives are crap to mediocre, while most PS3 exclusives are great to kick-ass! While you may not have as much variety, you know you can't go wrong with PS3!

for corpse. if u look from bottom, you'll see dead corpse hanged to the chain. u will get hair comb , and old raggy clothing. trade hair comb to vault guy in the nexus. he'll give u something in return.
