  • Can it be a good idea to sandpaper the corners of the blade?

    For a beginner

  • @fearofgodblablabla no, not a good idea.

  • I've been using my grand dad's Gillette adjustable single blade razor since about 1990. I have rarely shaved with anything else, and get a super comfortable close shave. I used to cut myself often in the beginning, almost never anymore. And, the blades are only $2 for 10. That will last me several months. I also use soap scraps and a boars hair brush. No waste, no cans to buy and throw away. Everyone should try shaving this way.

  • Thanks, sir! I'm a dark-skinned man and hate how the regular razors give me bumps. This technique really worked for me.

  • The smug attitude, it hurts.

  • Very creative work on the vid lol

  • Good show!

  • im 19 and i use a safety razor badger brush and shaving cream :) its much better than stuff in a can with a multi blade razor my dad thinks its funny how he uses the can n fusion and im a traditional shaver :L

  • I have been a little disappointed with my DE razor experience so far.

I have been DE shaving for about 9 months now and I have been using a Merkur HD and a Edwin jagger DE89. Both of these razors leave my face feeling irritated as well as leaving an unacceptable amount of stubble. I have tried using different blades, shaving techniques and creams, but nothing seems to have improved.

There's a lot of marketing bullshit surrounding multi-bladed razors, but they really give me great shave!

  • @SpitfireK5054 Getting a close shave with a DE takes time I suppose. But if you have plenty, then you should be able to get as close a shave as with the multi-bladed ones.

Not that I would know, I never tried a DE.

  • Where can I get the Mach 12?

  • this is just fucking funny idk why i watching this LMAO

  • i have the cheap one..is it soo bad?(i am new is safety razors)

  • After watching your videos I decided I wanted to try traditional wet shaving. I picked up a Gilette non-adjustable DE razor at a charity store for a whole 20 cents! I had a few nicks to begin with, but I've been shaving for a few months this way, and I very rarely nick myself now. The shave is nice and close, and I don't have to worry about the razor clogging up with soap and whiskers, like disposables. And it's cheap, only about 40 cents a blade. What's more, I've actually come to enjoy shaving

  • I just started shaving with a safety razor 2 days ago and I butchered my face a bit. I have cut myself shaving before, but every time before this it has stopped bleeding within a few minutes. But this morning when I shaved with a safety razor, I cut my lip slightly and it bled for almost a half hour. For the parts of my face I did not cut, I definitely had a better shave than with the fusion I was using previously, but the parts that I cut bled forever. Do you have any advice regarding this?

  • Mantic: where do you find the old school razors... I.e., the ones from the 40-50s?

  • @Tillerman7 ebay or antique stores

  • Mantic:

Sorry to keep writing you, but I have been trying to shave with my new Merkur HD for about 3 weeks now. However, I still seem to irritate my chin and immediate jaw line. Currently, I'm useing a DE blade purchased from Walgreens. Suggestions?

  • my dad used the one in the right~!

  • i have a crem not a soap how i can do it with a cream from a tube? please write back

  • @CUBETechie check my videos page, I have many videos about lathering.

  • Can anyone give advice about shaving around/over moles? With my Gillette Mach 3 I have been comfortably able to shave directly over my mole without cutting myself but I am a bit apprehensive about doing so with my new safety blade. Is there any specific technique I should be using in this case?

  • can i sharpening the blades and used it again?

  • good thing i will start shaving my 1st shave with a safety razor :D (never shaved before)

  • I am a woman but watching your videos make me wanna shave my face too.. unfortunately there is nothing to shave ;)

I may teach my boyfriend after watching some more of your videos!

  • WHERE CAN I GET ONE OF THOSE BLADES I THINK I COULD DO BETTER SHAVING WITH IT

  • @videogamefreak50 check my blog at mantic59(dot)blogspot(dot)com for the links titled "blade sampler pack sources."

  • does this work for bald-headed dudes too? I mean shaving the head.

  • @HaveFaithInU I know of several people who use a safety razor to shave their heads.

  • @mantic59 You forgot Astra DE blades.

  • Would you say that safety razors help in stopping folliculitus? No matter what I do I cannot stop my face from breaking out from shaving, and I use an electric shaver now, steaming my face before hand, and using moisturizer after, etc. etc. I'm thinking about switching over to safety razors if they can stop this.

  • @sharpbiohazard a safety razor *and* proper lather and technique will definitely reduce folliculitus.

  • This might seem like a really dumb question, but when loading a blade into your DE, does it matter which side is up or down, or are both sides identical. They look identical to me, but I am not certain, and don't want to start out wrong.

  • Thanks! Its a treat to find someone who doesn't ramble in their videos, and especially for such valuable information to all of men kind.

  • Good stuff Mantic59 I enjoy watching your videos. Very informative. I'm now going to shop an auction for an old double edge kit!

  • Recently I ordered a safety razor after a bad experience with a cartridge one where the plastic shoulder snapped under work and nicked me. I've been paranoid about returning since.

It wasn't until it arrived that I realized it would be a completely different ball game.

Excuse my ignorance, but the description states it "uses standard single edge blades." I stopped by a few shops and they only carry "double edge." Are the loading styles completely different or are they interchangeable?

    Thanks.

  • just tried this for the first time. not as easy as it looks boys...

  • Mantic is the shaving Man! I have switched more than a year ago now. It did take several safety razor/ blades combos to settle on the Merkur progress adjustable razor. I recommend starting with this particular razor, as you can start on a milder setting, and can grow into the razor, it adjusts well and can be as aggressive a razor you will ever need. Try some Crystal, Sharp, Personna blades to start with too. Good luck!

  • Mantic59

I was wondering i got my brother a murker HD with feather blades. should I get him different blades or what? I already ordered them though..

  • @rbtupper I'd say you're in the minority. Odds are you simply weren't taught properly.

  • @mantic59 I agree!

  • @mantic59 striat and safty razors cut way better especially for long beards and they never clog!!!

  • @rbtupper yeah man, thats cause u dont know how to shave!!..modern multi blade razors cost way more money in the long run..and clog up way to much..your father never taught u how to shave..or your just dumb, and stubborn

  • @rbtupper safety and strait razors never clog!!!

  • The title DE (double edged) blade is something of a misnomer since you can't, at any one time, utilise more than a single edge during a shave with this so "double edged" blade and quite unlike the brand name I have previously mentioned.

  • Your voice is so pleasantly monotone and relaxed, I love watching your videos. You got me into DE wet shaving! Thanks =)

  • Hi, below you say in response to 'stnicholas54' that 'if "protection" is an issue you can use a holder for the DE razor as well.' What's a 'holder'? Many thanks.

  • mantic59 I just ordered a vintage butterfly de razor are they good razors?

  • mantic59, where would you find all these old razors?

and how can I get that ecstatic look like that guy from the 50's who just shaved?

  • stnicholas54 - i don't know what a M3 cart costs in ireland but here in the states a DE blade is less than 1/10th the cost (in bulk), and if "protection" is an issue you can use a holder for the DE razor as well. Plus there are many brands of DE blades so you can find one that won't give you a bloodbath. But don't take my word for it, listen to your own countryman at boards. ie/rec/facial hair/safety razors

  • @mantic59 Forgive my ignorance but what do you mean by holder for the double edge razor? Where can I get one and what is it? I'm really interested to find out as I'm cutting my face on a daily basis with my new safety.

  • @ashton10012 : I believe he's talking about a case used to store the razor when it's not in use. If you're just starting out with a DE razor, I'd recommend watching the rest of Mantic's videos, and pay close attention to the techniques mentioned. If that still doesn't work, you might try googling the following wetshaving forums: Badger & Blade, The Shave Den, and Shave My Face. They all have subforums with titles like "shave school", filled with tips for newbies, and help for specific problems.

  • You can get the closest shave using a DE blade, with out the site of blood. A good razor, with quality blade, and proper skin prep will ensure that. A DE blade will last me on average 3-4 shaves. You may be able to keep a Mach 3 blade around for 2 months, but that doesn't mean its good for that long. A Mach 3's blue "wear indicator" usually turns white after 2-3 shaves, which, according to Gillette, means the cartridge is dull, and requires replacement.

  • How much does a Mach 3 Turbo cartridge last?

I paid $2 for my DE razors 2 months ago, and I've gone through a little over half of the package (about 12 of 20). I have a very thick beard, BTW.

  • @stnicholas54 it's a myth that you cut yourself more with a DE blade. there's no way I got 2 months use out of a Mach3 cartridge. I got 5 or 6 shaves, 2 weeks use maximum. I get 4 shaves out of DE blade and at a tenth of the price, there's no contest. since i stopped using a Mach3 my ingrown neck hairs have gone - DE shaving is the best thing that's ever happened! give it a go.

  • Total B/S. DE blades went out for a reason and don't give me all that "yank hack" horseshit. Shaving with a Double Edged blade was like shaving with a rusty nail.

  • Razor manufacturers wanted to increase profits. That's why they did away with DE blades and now charge you $3 to $4 for each blade. You can shave a lot closer and a lot cheaper with a DE.

  • Yeah, they went out because newbies couldn't deal with DE or SR shaving. I understand why it went out - DE and SR is not always the easiest thing to do. It takes time and practice.

However, I've been using a straight razor for about 2 months now...I will never, EVER go back to disposables or cartridge systems.

I paid $2 for 20 blades for my disposable straight razor, and in 2 months, I've used about 12 of em. Call that a good deal.

  • One main reason DE's went out was because all the blades were standardized. You didn't have to buy blades from Gillette to replace the blade in a Gillette DE razor. One main reason Gillette started using cartridges, is to make the cartridges proprietary to the handle. You can't make shick cartridges fit Gillette handles, & vice versa. Theres a reason for that. Gillette & Shick force your repeat business since you've purchased their shaving "system", I.E. the plastic handle with their name on it.

  • I would not be surprised if gillette released a mach 12 in a years to come, £30 for a pack of 2 blades haha, rip off

  • mach 12 wtf

  • The face used when showing the different regions of the face looks an awful lot like Andre Agassi...

  • What is your opinion on shaving your head with single blade razors?

  • what's a good Merkur to start off with for the average guy? And one that would last for a loooong time is preferred, rather than starting off with a beginner's model and having to buy another one as I go...

  • Thanks for your very educational videos. Can you please tell me how many times on average I can reuse a DE blade for shaving?

  • What makes me saddest is that I have been shaving (with irritation and much frustration) since I was eleven and wish I would've had all of this information then.

  • I have developed a very thick beard and a phenomemon known as "monster hair" where clumps of hair show up a single thick strand. I attribute this to the "lift and shave" plastic razors. (In my case - Gillette Fusion) Also everytime i try an upward shave with the fusion i get very irritated skin and visible razor bumps in the following 2-3 days. I've bought a merkur set on ebay and lets see how this goes.

Fcking plastics should come with a warning -" shaving with these is injurious"

  • @mobiustwister any luck?

  • Incidently i had my Merkur set delivered just today - Singapore. So ill let you know when i've tested it for a few days.

  • You look exactly like Jimmy Kimmel.

  • I'm starting to obtain the philosophy of "Old things working better than new ones"

  • nice to see someone explaining the science part of shaving, which would you say is the gentlest razor in your experience? (least aggressive) thanks for all your vidz...unique!

  • Glivity- For me Weishi razors and vintage blue-tipped Gillette Superspeeds are the gentlest

  • thanx alot 4 your reply, i'll make a note for my next purchase

  • man talkin bout shavin is like talkin bout politics everyone has a say in it lol

  • karnaf - The Azor is not available in most of the US yet.

  • When I switched from cartridge Mach 3 razor to DE safety razor I definitely noticed an improvement in facial skin quality. When I use a regular razor now, it feels like the blade is just scraping the hair of my face. More of a passive shave. I do have a beard that is industrial sandpaper strength though.

  • Then you should get the 'Azor' from the 'king of shaves'

  • i use japanese feathers and im not that experienced, my first straight razor shave was with a japanese feather... so people dont be afraid of em!

  • Help.... what kinda of steel are single razors and Gillete double and triple razors made of? What would be a good shaving cream? And aftershave lotion??

  • I currently use The 'Art of Shaving' brand shave cream w/ a badger hair brush. The stuff is a little expensive but I like it for its rich texture and smooth performance.I also use Everyman Jack Shaving Cream (w/out using a brush) which you can get for about $6 at Target. Good cheap alternative to the more expensive stuff I use. I always use a shave oil before I shave. Currently I use a Merkur D.E. safety razor and Wilkinson Sword blades. The Wilkinson blades are very sharp and hold their edge.

  • im tired of the green mark on my mustache could anyone help me for that

  • I just bought myself a '58 gillette superspeed. I can't wait to start experimenting with my new shave.

  • fuck yes i want to get into real shaving, its alpha

  • ah- so you can shave, good -

  • Recently Watched Darjeeling Ltd and Royal Tenenbaums, saw the safety razors, and fell in love. Wes Anderson must be a safety razor fan. Went out and bought a Gem single edge razor, a couple of Gillette DE. razors, and bought a "Travel Aire" set from the 30's with a mint gillette DE razor in it. Waiting on my Valet Auto Strop from England. Trying everything out to see whats best for me. Shaving was a chore, now it's a blast. Amazing videos, Helped a lot! Now gotta find a better brush.

  • me MERKUR VISION I have bought the razor but is it very heavy and uncomfortable to shave then me I also have an adjustable 1963 Gillette you thing recommends me?

  • supermusica11971- Yes a 1963 Gillette is good.

  • I retract my previous comment, I did alot of research inspired by your video, I decided to get my own double edge razor. It is a vintage Gillette Tech razor. I cleaned it, gave it a try, and I am impressed, it was more comfortable, I felt no tugging and it sounded much cleaner.

I am uploading a video of it now, any help to find the era which it is from would be greatly appreciated.

  • MACH 12!!! LMAO! We're probably only a year or two away from this!

  • i'm getting back into wet shaving. what's the difference between fixed and adjustable head safety razor's?

  • bumbacutthoat- See my "Adjustable Safety Razors" video!

  • i just finished watching it, very informative, thanks

  • scott78246- I think as long as you have a decent lather the strip does very little good.

  • what are you thoughts on the aloe vera strip on some commercial mach3 blades? do you think they help?

  • "you may try it on your arm first" - nice advice ;)

  • wow this is very interesting. thank you.

  • One question about the blades. I used to use a pivot head cartridge razor, and it was easy to know when to change blades, now since I have just begun to use a single blade safety razor, I would like to know when it would be necessary to change the blades on it. I hope this isn't a stupid question.

  • raven1485- Not at all. In fact I just uploaded a video addressing this very question a couple weeks ago. Check my channel page.

  • Mantic,

I have a lather question. I am building (what I think) is a pretty good lather. I apply it to my neck and face shave my face and by the time I reach my neck my lather is dried and I have to reapply. Is there not enough water in my lather or am I taking to long to shave my face?

(Sorry if I posted this twice)

  • jrlosh- probably a little of both!

  • that hack photo should have been of indiana jones.

  • Mantic59

Thanks so much for these great series of videos. They are informative and very funny, too!

You are a man with a mission. Thanks again!

  • Thanks for this video! I just got done with my first wet shave using a single blade razor, and it turned out pretty good. I've still got to work on the curved parts of my face, but your video got me well on my way.

  • Ok I am new to safety razors, I just picked up a Gillette Super Speed from EBAY. I have what may be a silly question. Seeing as the handle is made of aluminum it is said to be prone to oxidation creating rust. My question is how do i care for my safety razor and make sure it's properly clean and will last me for the rest of my life. Also any blades you would recommend, I get 1 Gillette Thin Blade and I am thinking about getting some Merkurs.

  • who makes the injector razor that's modeled after the Schick?

  • greeterboy- In this video the razor was from nationwidecampus(dot)com but they no longer carry them. You'll have to use your favorite search engine to see if anyone else is making them.

  • is it good for bolding your head?

  • Hi mantic59, thanks for the videos. I came across with an ingrown hair problem earlier this year out of nowhere. I used to use a triple blade, ATG, without any ingrowns.. and now my skin is going crazy on me..What kind of shaving cream is good for ingrowns, I am also using a BIC sensitive, any suggestions/advice? thanks

  • kkel19- If you use a shave brush try a hypo-allergenic cream or soap (Taylors of Old Bond Street or Art of Shaving, or something unscented). If you don't want to go the full wetshaving route with a brush and lather cream/soap, at least use something from a squeeze tube rather than a pressurized can. Also try gently wiping your face with a cotton pad soaked with Witch Hazel after the shave (rinse with lots of cool water afterwards). If that doesn't work you may have to try another razor.

  • How can I Know the time to change my Double Edge blade (I Shave with grain only)? Is the Platinum blades is the best for wet shaving? Thank You

  • combomember- When the blade start to tug and pull, and doesn't cut as much as it used to, its time to change. I can generally get about 5 shaves with mine, but its dependent on the brand of blade and your beard. Blades are something you might have to experiment around with to find the right one for you.

  • i ordered the merkur 570 adjustable safety razor

    is that a good product?

  • razorwhite- That razor is also known as the Merkur Progress. I have one and really like it.

  • Hats off to your videos...My question: my local supermarket carries "wilkinson sword" blades -- what is the reputation of these blades in the eyes of an experienced d.e. shaver?

  • irish7bri7bri7- Wilkinson blades are generally regarded as pretty good!

  • Hello Sir.

Thank you for your guides. I've learned a lot.

  • Hi I have a question. I've always shaved my beard upwards and the rest of my face going downwards. I've read on sites that you shouldnt shave against the grain because it can cause ingrown hairs. So does that mean I should start shaving my beard downwards? I use a single blade razer.

  • Dan16381- The "safest" thing to do is to shave with the grain first. Then across the grain. Then, maybe, against the grain. The key is the beard reduction concept. If you're using a single blade razor and proper lather you might be able to "cheat" and just go straight down, but that's to learn technique. If you already have your technique down then you can take your pick. Just don't go against the grain straight off.

  • Well isn't that nice for you. And how much is that a time to replace the blades ?

  • rahulsarathy82- Not at all, there are some fine 3 piece razors.

  • "Hey mantic59 ! very good job on shaving videos. After seeing your video , I have started using DE razors ,iam from india and I don't get good DE razors like merkur heavy duty or other good brands ,the problem is I have only three piece razor and an old aggressive gillete slim razor which gives me cuts & razor burns although the shaving is close. The question is wether i have to shift back to mach 3 or continue using DE razors for better shaves ?"

  • rahulsarathy82- There is nothing "wrong" with a mach3 if it gives you a close, comfortable shave. If you cannot find a good DE then stick to something you are comfortable with. However, look around for "Parker" razors--they are made in India and not a bad razor.

  • hey mantic ! thanks for your reply . The good news is that I have got a new DE three piece razor which is preety good . I think there nothing wrong with using an three piece DE razor right?

  • Whats your best advice for getting rid of ingrown hairs? Don't shave for a few days for the inflammation to heal itself? I love a close shave but a ingrown hair or two ruins the pleasure with an acne like appearence on my chin :-(.

Also- how would you recommend to get rid of that tight skin feel after you shave, is it all in the aftershave balm?

Great vids and awsome tutorials - If you haven't try metacafe/ you'll earn a few bucks for these great vids i'm sure! Thanks

  • norby16- Ingrowns can be tricky. Sometimes you can use a tweezer to coax the hair out of the inflamation (but don't pluck it out!). Some have reported good results with a product called "Tend Skin" but I've never used it.

  • After I watched this video I started shaving against the grain and I couldn't believe the results. My face was so smooth that I could barely feel the hairs. -thanks mantic

  • Hey Mantic i've been watching your videos on safety razors, and i have a couple of questions for you. What's the best way to dispose of the blades, and which shaving cream / brush do you recommend? I usually just use a foam and rub it on, but it sounds like i can get a better shave with the proper cream.

  • djjfresco- I have videos on both those subjects. Check my channel page.

  • Nice Job... Lookin forward to the new website.

  • My girlfriend would like to know if you've got any advice for shaving her legs with a DE razor? Thanks.

  • craigthetallguy- Yes, for shaving legs lather up, gently shave downward first, relather then shave upward.

  • dt1345 dont be affraid of cuts, i have been shaving with my Merkur 34c for about a month now and have only had two minor cuts that stopped bleeding after i had washed my face with cold water.

So just stick with the DEshaving principals that our SHAVINGGURU- Mantic59 tells us: dont press down and be gentle...

  • Awesome. Thanks. I've been wanting to get a better shave.

  • Oh man Mantic, you are my hero, I started to watch your videos a couple of weeks ago and finally got my stuff, the Merkur Progress of course =) And I have been shaving for 2 days now. Had a little trouble with the lather though. But got it right in the end I think, after watching your videos again.

  • mantic, this is so awesome. I read about wet shaving on zen habits, and just recently dr. mercola posted your videos. Thank you, I was so imspired I picked up a brush and some shave cream called "Florena" Not sure if it's any good, but I'm excited to get started.

    Thanks!

  • thecat029- Florena is an excellent brand!

  • sounds too hard. i'll stick to my mach 3

  • great video

  • Also I noticed that many people on this DE shaving forums say that shaving foams and gels in tubes, like Barbasol is complete utter garbage, and they won't use it at all and you only need soap lather. Why is that??? I don't like that sensation of brush on my shaved face, it irritates my skin. Is there is any other way to go about it?

  • dr1345- Pretty much anything in a pressurized can is considered the low rung of the ladder because the propellants dry out the skin and have to be compensated by adding artificial lubricants and topical anesthetics that can themselves irritate the skin. There are some reasonably decent brushless products (King of Shaves, Anthony Logistics, Cremo Cream, Sharps Kid Glove) that come in a squeeze tube and don't need a brush.

  • How is double edge razors are better than cartridge ones, besides saving on the blades? Thanks for the great video. Just what I need. I hate saving and thinking going that DE route cause I'm not happy with cartridges, but I affraid of cuts.

  • Mantic how do you know so much about this stuff? Great Videos!

  • bariswheel- Most of it comes from learning from others on the shaving discussion boards like shavemyface and badgerandblade.

  • Pretty cool, I remember wathing my dad shave with these type of razors...

  • Hi mantic,

I also do only shave "wet", like we say in our country. Thank you for your nice movie- I enjoyed it!

  • Thanks mantic,

Also I have heard it advised from a variety of sources that shaving against the grain is not advised as it encourges ingrowing hairs, could you comment ?

I got my Merkur razor the other day, it came with blades and a brief leaflet showing how to insert them, it should really come with a shaving guide, without your guide Im sure I would have a lot more cuts on my face, so thanks again.

  • visulube- Shaving against the grain can indeed promote ingrowns but its usually from using multi-blade cartridges (or over-stretching the skin). If you have sensitive skin you might not be able to shave against the grain but beard reduction using a single blade razor and decent lather will minimize the chances. You'll just have to try it and find out. :)

  • Hi Mantic

Thanks for the video, great series.

You comment that different razors have different characteristcs, Ijust bought a Merkur Futur, do you know what characteristics /reputation this one has ?

  • Visulube- The Futur is generally well-regarded: reasonably well built and a good shaver. Some have trouble with maneuvering the head (like under the nose) and some don't care for the "pop off" top. Check my "Adjustable Safety Razors" video for more info.

  • Great video series. I have been shaving this way (mostly with a straight razor) for several years now. I just recently was turned onto a GEM single-edge razor, which I feel is absolutely awesome! How come no talk or videos shaving with a GEM, or other single-edge razor? I think these would be very good options for those who can't quite get along with a DE... or in my case, just another weapon in the arsenal.

  • windycity72- I admit I tend to shy away from talking about single edge razors like a GEM or an Injector, because you can't buy them new anymore. Getting a vintage razor is always a crap-shoot.

  • I use a Mach 3. It's the only razor I've ever got on with. Good video. Surprised you recommend upward strokes. I thought they gave ingrowing hairs, although I shave like that and just get a really smooth face.

  • LOL! but your probably arn't gonna wait that long lmao!

  • I can't believe I need to learn how to shave at my age. So much technique and sophistication in a thing I thought was simple and a hassle. Great video.

  • thanks!

    Ron uk

  • Shaving is shaving, in my opinion. Just use your intuition a little common sense. I recently switched from a mach 3 turbo to single razor, and it was a smooth transition. Been getting a great shave every time.

  • Interesting. I should try this.

  • hi another ? i live in the uk and iv'e only noticed wilkinson blades as i said my razor is an old gillette 1 as shown but it's like the 1st 1 where the handle screws into top , and i ned to know the best way to clean it i also pull down on the sides of my neck to make my skin taught is that right?

  • Are you asking how to clean the razor? Soak it in a solution of 4 parts hot water to 1 part vinegar for a couple hours, then give it a good scrubbing with a toothbrush. Ultrasonic jewerlry cleaners also work very very well. Yes, you can pull down the sides of your neck to make your skin taught if you need to, just don't pull too hard.

  • Hey mantic, love your videos!!

Need some advice though, I'm thinking of making the change to single blade shaving, but cautious, because of the curly hair of black men (being black), I don't know if single blade shaving is right for me. Are there any other black guys on here that wetshave? (single blade shave?)Is there any additional advice regarding black men, or is the information you've already provided suitable?

  • Syres4me- Single blade shaving is *excellent* for men of color...fewer blades are definitely better in this case. A directly against-the-grain shave pass may not be possible though; you'll just have to try it and see.
