Why exactly would I want to buy a collection of songs that were (and still are) on heavy rotation on the radio station my mom listens to? And that shove certainly didn't look all that gentle.
Frankly, I think the couple in the mattress commercial had the right idea. How are you supposed to tell if a new mattress is a good one unless you spend the night on it?
I certainly hope some talk show host springs that Rap Hotline ad on Will Smith next time he's out promoting a movie.
@SaskBlade Well, I was a teenager back then...most CDs were about $25 apiece...this breaks down to $10 a CD. These days you still only find a price like that on a closeout CD. So yes, yes I would.
@smoove1971 Yeah these sound like the songs I would hear on the Delilah show, if you know who that is. I just love the way the lady pushed him off. And even when he sat closer to her, she had the look on her face like, "I thought I told you to GET OFF!" lol
I think the blonde in the deodorant commercial is the girl that played Caitlin on Degrassi Jr. High. Also the woman at the end looks like Patricia Heaton.
I thought that I was the only one who remembered the songs on that secret Love commercial. It's amazing what the brain will remember over 20 years. It's just like riding a bike
OMFG!! I remeber the Secret Love Album!!! Some great songs on that album. I also remember the CigArrest commercial also. I use to bug my parents all the time to get that because they were heavy smokers, my parents would just laugh. Thanks for posting and Happy 90th post by the way!!
I so miss those record collection commercials! The name "Secret Love" makes it sound vaguely innapropriate, tho. ;) this is back when they were offering music on vinyl, cassette tapes AND CD! those were the days
Rap Hotline? Amazing.

Well, considering the relatively high price of CDs at the time, the cost of that cheesy compilation seems pretty good.

"Planet of Dinosaurs" used the same stop-action animation used in "Land Of The Lost" that was on Saturday mornings in the early 1970s.
Hank, the husband in the Security Life Plan, was 68 in 1988. Now he'd be 91. Still with us Hank? Or did the Security Life Plan pay off?
Out of curiosity, I called 1-900-909-JEFF and.... it's no longer a working number.

$30 for three CDs in 1988 wasn't a bad price.

@StormsongK You wouldn't be saying that after 25 years of inflation.

Is it just me or was there TONS of long-form ads on a lot of cable networks in the 1980s?
Good description on the Liquid Plumbr ad, so it would be like... I'm in ur sink, cleanung out ur pipez, right? LOL

Here's the sad thing: I remember the order of every song played in that Secret Love commercial before the song was even played.

Think that's bad? Every time I hear "Saving All My Love" on the radio, I expect it to jump to "Baby Come To Me" after the chorus.
