I find with these games it's not just the music, but the story that evokes it. I haven't played FF4 (only watched HCs LP) so I don't have the same emotional connection to it like I do FF7 (which I've played many, many times). To each their own though, and being "Old Fashioned" is not a bad thing at all :)
@Maverick6429 I definitely understand that sentiment and that's why I have more of an emotional connection to 4 than 7 since 4 is my favorite FF and the second FF i played (after 1). FF1 is a good example for me of a "connection" being just as important, if not more so than actual gameplay. No one would say FF1 has better gameplay, characters or plot but it gives me that nostalgic connection to my childhood that makes it one of my favorites to this day.
The one thing I wish they had done before going the route they did in FFX was to make an amalgamation of most of the unique aspects of the previous games - Learning Abilities, Mastering Materia and Weapons, Job Classes, having linked magic/materia, Junctioning. It would have been cool to have one really massive game where every unique element of the prior ones was there.
@Maverick6429 Well it's partially a matter of opinion, and, as you said yourself, largely a matter of "connection"/nostalgia. I think Dancing Mad was better, and I believe HC said that was his #1.
@meotwisterix Alot of Differences between a Rip off and a Rip off. If its from the same Devloper then it means they Did something they already Did and had it with better graphics. Other Rip off is well you know.
If you mimic the others and use knights of the round much much easier ... all in all good game to long on the story telling imo but worth the 10 bucks i payed for it
This may have been covered previously in the two years since this was posted... but I don't know if "Safer Sephiroth" is a typo or not... I thought it was a reference to "Sepher Sephiroth", the book of countings, from the Kaballah.
Its so funny how super nova can destroy almost every planet in the galaxy but couldn't kill 3 people and the planet earth, its so amusing when i think about it
wait wait wait....if he can expand the sun like that, why doesn't he just use the sun to destroy the world, instead of using a meteor that moves 1 mph
If they ever remake Final Fantasy VII they need to make Safer have like 12,000,000 HP and make him immune to KOTOR. He should be an epic final boss that should be a huge threat. I hope they do the same thing with Kefka in the 3DS remake of FF6
@mattiathekaiju True, but either of the wweapons is 1,000,000 times harder than Kefka. There's only like 1 way to beat them, and that is to pretty much use the final summon with W-Summon and then make the other two guys mime lol.
there is other ways but they are generally slower, one way for emerald weapon is to get 9999 hp with 2 materia equipped, spamheal until he casts aire tam storm, everyone gets lucky 7777 then just spam limitbreaks on him
1. the potential attractive force between the sun and the planet,
2. the Earth's potential attractive force,
and...
3. the area of an oval.
Heh...
Supernova can't even kill you, can it? As far as I have worked out it's sorta like super gravitaga. It deals 15 16ths of your health... And it can miss. A supernova can miss...
I thinkthose formulas were for trajectory I think he basically used meteor again but against you or rather the run against you. IDK I Iaven't gotten far enough in ophysics to be certain.
The problem with a lot of the final limit breaks, like Red XIII's and Yuffie's, is that they only hit once. Yeah, they usually do 99999 or whatever damage, but a lot of the level three limit breaks do that too, and they hit more than once. Pretty to look at but very underwhelming. Not like Omnislash and Highwind.
(too lazy to look through comments to see if someone said this already)
THAT is the reason why i say FF7 is stupid at times, sephiroth has this big attack that is able to destroy the entire friggin solar system, yet he goes for the black materia that can only destroy a planet, am i the only one who realized that?!
Well, I'm a bit late with this comment, but since no-one else said it: Safer was actually meant to be "Sefer" Sephiroth. It's Hebrew and is a reference to the Kaballah (and I can't fully explain it within the character limit of a youtube comment!) That it was meant to be "Seraph" or "Saviour" are common urban legends but since the kana do not match either of those words they are clearly incorrect.
wait a minute, didn't you had 1 HP after the battle with Safer Sephiroth???, looks like the game automatically heals you up after the battle(or revives you if for some reason he dies) automatically...
Question, what the hell does sephiroth need meteor for if he can cause the sun to go super nova and swallow up all the inner planets after completely oblitering the outer planets?
@Asildur He's not actually destroying the solarsystem, or make the sun explode. If he did, he would not only kill the whole party with that one hit and destroy the planet, but also kill himself in the process. The animation for Supernova is just to show off that he's gonna hit hard this time, mere symbolism. The meteor on the other hand is a real deal that would destroy the planet and everyone who lived there.
@ZealSeraph so at what point does symbolism turn into the real deal? it's that very same comet that "symbolically" destroyed jupiter that crashes into the sun causing the wall of fire(the sun's surface) to engulf the party after eating up mercury and venus. so if it's all just symbolism what created that wall of fire?
@Asildur When the wall of fire comes to engulf the party, that's the real deal. The animation before that is just to symbolize the power of the attack. If he really destroyed the planets and the sun in the process, he would screw up the balance of the solarsystem, making the battle itself meaningless. They would all die even if they beat Sephiroth, making the ending (and most of all the sequels) impossible. Besides how could he destroy same planets over and over if he uses supernova again?
The first time I got to this point, I botched the save crystal in the cave. I used it but after noticing I couldn't change party members or equipment I continued the game without saving. Karma prevailed and Safer Sephirtoh kicked my ass. I tried again (going through the whole cave again) with a better materia/equipment setup and won easily.
Those numbers in Sephiroth's Supernova attack actually DO have meaning! However, you can only look clearly at the ones that appear on 2:35
The first and 2nd equation calculates the Sun's gravitational force, the 3rd calculates the Earth's gravitational force, and the 4th equation is the dimensions of a sphere, probably needed to figure out how big the asteroid has to be to cause the sun to supernova.
Something else amusing of note... I let Final Sephiroth hit me in the last confrontation where it's just he and Cloud. He left me with around 200 HP. Cloud automatically countered the hit and dealt around 200 damage to Sephiroth, which was enough to still beat him o.O
@Gindelbi I had always assumed 1 hp, but I never found anything. I suppose since, you are right, it's scripted so you can't lose, that in the end it's irrelevant =P Although, imagine if you could lose at that point XD
I remember actually losing to this guy a lot because of some bad command input timing. He'd cast Supernova, and I had Tifa with the Slash-All Materia and no Ribbon. So what happened? She became confused, used Slash-All, and killed the whole group. It was painful =(
The first two equations calculate the Sun's and planet's potential attractive forces, the third equation calculates the Earth's potential attractive forces and the fourth misstates that the asteroid is working on a two dimensional level, as it is the equation for the area of a circle, all to direct the energy used to cause the supernova
Oh, and I also heard that if you don't use the limit break, Sephiroth attacks, you always survive, and Cloud does a counterattack for you, killing Sephiroth. It's not even a strong counterattack, so you think you went a little overboard Cloud?
Probably gonna be hated for this, but I never did like "One Winged Angel". I felt like they tried too hard to make it as epic as possible. It's not beautiful, it's not symbolic, it's just epic.
Cid's limit break reminds me of a special move in Skies of Arcadia that one of the three secondary character uses called Claudia. You can even hear him say "You mess with me, you mess with Claudia." Then launches a cannon assault against all enemies. I highly recommend you to check out that game, and if interested, do a 100% lp on it. But that's your choice, I'm not trying to force you into it. I mean who can go wrong with Sky Pirates?
this boss was to easy for me. i reflected his own shadow flare at him. used 4x cut which done 9999 each hit. and then somehow he died. but you did say if i use knights of the round on jenova then he has more hp. and i never used kotr. because of the over power factor. and my characters wernt 99 either.
Well Sephiroth's death sequence is somewhat quicker then Zeromus's in FFIV! But other then that lol. Haha Cid defeated Safer Sephiroth! Cloud should have done it. lol
@ 5:24 - 5:31 I couldn't understand what you said HC, the volume was alittle high lol.
The true final battle was inside of Cloud's Soul right? Well it was awesome. Cloud has finally defeated the last remnants of Sephiroth in his mind, body and soul.
haha Safer Sephiroth is sporting Kefka's final form from FFVI, through he still has nothing on Kefka, thats just my opinon, sorry if it offends anyone. I agree through that the final battle theme for this battle is so fitting. Nobuo FTW!
Ahh yes, Super Nova! I'll grab a snack while Sephiroth is wasting like 5 mins casting it xD Awesome animation through. Wasn't Heartless Angel a move Kefka used in FFVI? Nice FFVI references.
The first two equations calculate the Sun's and planet's potential attractive forces, the third equation calculates the Earth's potential attractive forces and the fourth states that the asteroid is working on a two dimensional level, as it is the equation for the area of a circle, all to direct the energy used to cause the supernova.
Ah yes, Super Nova, the "go fix a sandwich" attack. On my first playthrough, one of my 2 Game Overs came against Safer Sephiroth, thanks to SN + Confuse + Slash All. I used the Throw materia to mimic my strategy with Edge vs. Zeromus in FF4 -- throw a bunch of old weapons until the boss dies.
One of the worst final boss fights ever. Boring, too many long ass CGs, and hardly a challenge. I said it once, I'll say it again: Most overrated villain ever.
i love your commenting videos on these games. Also, if i'm thinking right, SuperNova seems to do a massive percent of damage. I believe i was playing this boss once and he got one supernova on me and then another before i could heal, but none of my characters died. idk, i'll have to look into that.
Final Fantasy 7 was very disappointing when it came to difficulty. Story was pretty good, but the game was way too easy. That's why I like Final Fantasy 2 because its actually a challenge if you don't boost your stats way high. Same with just about any other Final Fantasy game before 7.
i hated the damn summon he did it just took to damn long and then i healed him with the megaexlir twice on accident but i still beat him he is not really that hard of a boss
I'd argue that they probably could. The teams aren't composed of exactly the same people from project to project, after all, and it's still recycling ideas regardless of whether or not the original is also yours.
While we're on the topic, compare The Bouncer and Kingdom Hearts side-by-side sometime. Nomura's pretty well-known for revisiting his own designs.
I forgot to mention this last time I watched this part: Red XIII's "Earth Rave" is better against bosses like Safer Sephiroth than is "Cosmo Memory." The same could be said of Yuffie's "Doom of the Living"--better against a single enemy than is "All Creation," and in both cases the limit gauge fills up a bit faster thanks to them being Level 3 Limit Breaks. Cosmo Memory and All Creation only really work effectively on groups.
You also want Ribbons to guard against Super Nova, not just Pale Horse. The damage is essentially just a step below Heartless Angel (it always takes you to a very small fraction of your current total), but it also hits you with status ailments. You want at LEAST Peace Rings or Mystify/Hades + Added Effect on each character, because Confuse status is lethal when you're left with such low HP.
There's a giant supernova heading towards you... and all you can worry about is whether Pluto is a planet...???????

The formula goes like this
The first two equations calculate the Sun's and planet's potential attractive forces, the third equation calculates the Earth's potential attractive forces and the fourth misstates that the asteroid is working on a two dimensional level, as it is the equation for the area of a circle, all to direct the energy used to cause the supernova

second best? its best, just how its timed, its so epic the timing is just awesom

You pretty much nailed it when you said it was a good rip off of FF6.
LamentOfInnocence1 1 year ago
The funny thing is, I did a force scan using gameshark on the final fight, and he only has 1 hp.
joshuapsgibbons 1 year ago
Oh, and I also heard that if you don't use the limit break, Sephiroth attacks, you always survive, and Cloud does a counterattack for you, killing Sephiroth. It's not even a strong counterattack, so you think you went a little overboard Cloud?
luckyshotgun 1 year ago
Probably gonna be hated for this, but I never did like "One Winged Angel". I felt like they tried too hard to make it as epic as possible. It's not beautiful, it's not symbolic, it's just epic.
luckyshotgun 1 year ago
Cid's limit break reminds me of a special move in Skies of Arcadia that one of the three secondary character uses called Claudia. You can even hear him say "You mess with me, you mess with Claudia." Then launches a cannon assault against all enemies. I highly recommend you to check out that game, and if interested, do a 100% lp on it. But that's your choice, I'm not trying to force you into it. I mean who can go wrong with Sky Pirates?
trainman666 1 year ago
this boss was to easy for me. i reflected his own shadow flare at him. used 4x cut which done 9999 each hit. and then somehow he died. but you did say if i use knights of the round on jenova then he has more hp. and i never used kotr. because of the over power factor. and my characters wernt 99 either.

If this is the second best final boss music, what (in your opinion) is the best.
Kakudidan 1 year ago
Pluto is considered a non-planetary object in the Oort cloud.

Jesus in a pita bread. o_O;; Supernova takes forever to go through the battle animation.
RikkudoSennin 1 year ago
Well Sephiroth's death sequence is somewhat quicker then Zeromus's in FFIV! But other then that lol. Haha Cid defeated Safer Sephiroth! Cloud should have done it. lol
@ 5:24 - 5:31 I couldn't understand what you said HC, the volume was alittle high lol.
The true final battle was inside of Cloud's Soul right? Well it was awesome. Cloud has finally defeated the last remnants of Sephiroth in his mind, body and soul.
ProtectorChrono 1 year ago
haha Safer Sephiroth is sporting Kefka's final form from FFVI, through he still has nothing on Kefka, thats just my opinon, sorry if it offends anyone.
ProtectorChrono 1 year ago
In that final battle inside Cloud's soul, Sephiroth only has 10 HP

Ah yes, Super Nova, the "go fix a sandwich" attack. On my first playthrough, one of my 2 Game Overs came against Safer Sephiroth, thanks to SN + Confuse + Slash All. I used the Throw materia to mimic my strategy with Edge vs. Zeromus in FF4 -- throw a bunch of old weapons until the boss dies.

but it sounds SO awesomes

Same with just about any other Final Fantasy game before 7.

wait can a game company rip them selves off
scukmawea 2 years ago
I'd argue that they probably could. The teams aren't composed of exactly the same people from project to project, after all, and it's still recycling ideas regardless of whether or not the original is also yours.
While we're on the topic, compare The Bouncer and Kingdom Hearts side-by-side sometime. Nomura's pretty well-known for revisiting his own designs.
mawknation 2 years ago
Zeromus's disintergrating sequence still trumps Sephiroth's, as the most time consuming rofl. Awesome victory HC :)

supershadow125 2 years ago
I forgot to mention this last time I watched this part: Red XIII's "Earth Rave" is better against bosses like Safer Sephiroth than is "Cosmo Memory." The same could be said of Yuffie's "Doom of the Living"--better against a single enemy than is "All Creation," and in both cases the limit gauge fills up a bit faster thanks to them being Level 3 Limit Breaks. Cosmo Memory and All Creation only really work effectively on groups.
SolarisParadox 2 years ago
You also want Ribbons to guard against Super Nova, not just Pale Horse. The damage is essentially just a step below Heartless Angel (it always takes you to a very small fraction of your current total), but it also hits you with status ailments. You want at LEAST Peace Rings or Mystify/Hades + Added Effect on each character, because Confuse status is lethal when you're left with such low HP.
SolarisParadox 2 years ago
ribbons don't stop supernova btw
