@blueskidd96 I have played with one but didn't own one... Their prices are lower now since they had less options than the 2nd model. At least that's what I think...
Oh, it is a popular (although pricey) guitar pedal that has already reached version 2 and is about to reach the end of its production due to the lack of decent bucket brigade chips.
Having said that, there are many delay (and non-delay) pedals that can be used to create sonic mayhem, and this is just one of them...
I believe it would, but those screechy sounds are usually only produced by the self-oscillation of analog circuits.
However, there are exceptions. For instance, if you find the Boss Space Echo pedal (the emulation of the famous old Roland Space Echo) give it a try... it's digital but the way it freaks out is surely analog (and sounds pretty analog-ish too)!
Oddly enough, the "echo" setting on the cheapie Ibanez DE-7 can do the same thing. Just got one today, and was having a lot of fun acting like a mad scientist. heh.
I was under the impression that this was a guitar pedal.. I don't see or hear any guitars in this demonstration...? I certainly wouldn't buy it for all those strange noises.
I have a question. If you are using the pedal and you have some feedback going, if you press the switch again, does it the sound of feedback stop or does it keep going?
That's a good question. I don't own it, but I believe the "trail" does not exist. At least that's what happens in my Dlx. Memory Man (it actually goes so wild that in order to fully enjoy it when it's "freaking out" you must place a compressor after it... ) :-)
they CLAIM to use real old stock Panasonic MN3005 BBD chips. NO. They use current Chinese productions that have a bootlegged logo on them. Close, but not nearly as warm or potent as an Ibanez/Maxon AD-80 m(not re-issue)......Memory Lane is ok.
By the way, does anyone know if Electroharmonix have run out of the Panasonic BBD chips for the Dlx. Mem. Man? They were still using them until something like one year ago, according to the Analog Man website. They are pretty rare, so sooner or later they will run out of them, and maybe resort to those Chinese "bootlegged" ones (although I don't really understand what that means).
Nice... and there is an interview of the guy that owns Electroharmonix by Geekwire (eeh.. I meant Gearwire) where he says they only have old Panasonic BBD chips for their Dlx. Memory Mans for 1.5 years. After that it's probably bye bye DMM.
The point is to show what these analog delay guitar pedals are capable of, and how to make them show their full potential. They have their usual warm spacious delay - reverb sounds (that you don't hear in this video), but can produce these very very cool effects as well. Very useful to add dramatic soundscapes in the song. I know many friends of mine (and some of them being non-guitar players) that would be very interested to see how these sounds are created.

my oscillation sounds really clicky.....
supern00b 4 months ago
I can't understand why so many folks think it's important for a delay pedal to self oscillate like this. Sure it sounds cool, then what.
ampaholics 9 months ago
@ampaholics You can see it as a bonus. I really doubt anyone will buy a delay only for its self-oscillation.
bloodySunday77 9 months ago
How much did you get this for? I'm assuming that it was cheaper than the Memory Lane 2.

what?? you dont play that much with knobs when you are playing live... sheeesh
animeLo 2 years ago
You are SO mistaken... you've obviously never seen a live where this is done, let alone play one.

Anybody use this to play guitar thru or just use it for cheesy sound effects?

3 knobed mad professor delay pedal is better. I would take the MXR 129.00 pedal over this.
tele0507 2 years ago
Comparing two pedals with such a huge difference in options and price is not valid.

Is it only using analog delay pedals you can get these sounds? Would something like a Boss DD-3 work aswell?

That's the first time I've heard anyone say that an oscillation is too... clicky!!! :-D

How does it sound with a guitar pluged into it?

It is a guitar pedal!! Check out the response video.

There must be more videos around... anyway, I hear there is a new version out already. Supposedly better.

If you didn't know what "feedback" means (as stated in the video title & description), you most definitely do, now.
And you can easily pay me for a small memory removal operation...
bloodySunday77 4 years ago
Not if he has the deluxe memory man! (Woah shit pun)
gilbertgodlyddd 3 years ago
um, I don't know if these effects are really 400 bucks worth, I can do this on a crappy Ibanez Echo/Delay pedal too :(

So, to answer your question, I believe everything stops when you step on the OFF switch. Any D. M. Lane owners feel free to post any comments.

Some really sweet oscillation. I'm looking into getting one of these.

And just to note that I am in no way affiliated with the Diamond Pedals brand, although an endorsement would be nice :-)
If I did, I would not mention that the Deluxe Mem. Man costs about half as much, would I?

That's really cool, but what's the whole point of it?
