"The problem of suffering" and "why doesn't God intervene" is related to the fundamental doctrine of faith. The world is transformed and redeemed according to the measure of faith, be that our faith or the faith of others. Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God, so first we have to hear the word of God, then believe it. The word of God is not the Bible per se as Ehrman and others might propose, although it contains the word of God. It is Christ and the Spirit, more than text.
I have this lecture in audio format and the Q&A in video. I'll slice and post the Q&A videos here, but the audio is over an hour long. If you're interested I can host the MP3 online somwhere and give you a link to it.
@boxubi - Yeah, I've read all of Dr. Ehrman's books and I am interested in the audio. If you can find the time and place to host it I'll d/l it as soon as you give me a URL. dowdle-at-montanalinux-dot-org Thanks in advance!
Thanks for posting this. Do you have any more video of Dr. Ehrman you'd be willing to share?
So many Muslims have been posting videos of Dr. Ehrman "proof" that the Christian bible is flawed and they usually also claim that he "left Christianity" as a result of it. That is NOT the case as this video points out.
He didn't just leave Christianity... he became an agnostic which includes not believing in Islam... and his criticisms in "God's Problem" applies to all religions.
@lsdowdle Yeah, he definitely didn't become a Muslim. We believe that what remains of the Old and New Testament has been infiltrated by others for their own benefit. But God knows what He wrote. Prophets(peace be upon them) such as David, Lot, who have been accused of immoral acts, totally unworthy of Men of God, are vindicated of those acts in the Qur'an. They are innocent.
Religion requires a mind that accepts. It is no match for relentless thoughtful questioning.
