@GooglFascists A great, great artist. An original member of The Statesmen Quartet. Ironic that Hovie Lister formed The Statesmen and hired Mosie but they were not related. Fabulous piece of history. Thank You. Charlie
True story: A tornado destroyed a small church in Yazoo City,MS on April 24, 2010. One man was in the building at the time...he dove under the communion table and escaped w/o a scratch. When he got up, one of the hymnals was open to this song...Till the Storm Passes By. You can't tell me that was as coincidence...
@navydoctrinadad..... do you have 'It Might Be Jesus' by the Statler Brothers? I know they did it at a concert, perhaps with the Gaithers. I think it would be great to see.
I've sung this on and off since I was 12 and I could NEVER hit Jimmy's highest notes. Internal joke with the group at one point was Jimmy's wife sewed his pants a little tighter in the seat and front but regardless a fantastic performance by a group that has been entertaining us for decades and still does years after they have retired.
@Knicksman76 Thanks for the note. I always envied you top and lead singers. You always knew the melody. We bottom singers hardly ever could recognize a song when we heard it away from the group. Be good and have a great Hoiliday. Charlie
Many (the Kingdom Heirs, etc.) have done this song well; but none better than the Statlers. Jimmy"s soaring tenor, from 1:50 on, is a goose-bumper. Praise God from whom all blessings flow!
Written by Mosie Lister in 1958 if I remember right.
What a great song of faith.

Jimmy Fortune might just be the best tenor in country music period. Great song.
